Hi,
I have upgraded my Go 710 before, so I am a little bit experienced ;) however, now I have come into a problem:

After formatting SD card and clean installed Navcore SE 8.410.1218, I d/l a map Western Europe v825.

However when I start up my Go 710,
I get (after initial set up question etc), the error message:

"Problem with map. You cannot use this map on this device: Western_Europe-25"

Anyone got an idea of what went wrong, and what I should do?

use navcore 830 or 832 with go 710.

Sound like you forgot to activate the map, use either alberts easy activator or easytools to activate it and you should be fine
