View Full Version : tutorial for Navcore 8.410 with ALG, IQ routes and VocalizerTTS for TT One
markham 16th April 2009, 17:28 I just created a step by step tutorial for Navcore 8.410 with ALG, IQ routes and VocalizerTTS for TT One V2. You can try it on other models.
It was tested on 1GB SD card, too. So yes, it will work on V3.
It includes a full step by step tutorial with pictures and the all files you need except your map.
Thanks everyone for the tools and shared knowledge.

bluehz 16th April 2009, 20:52 Thx! Confirmed working on TomTom One 125 (v.8). So far this is the first version I have tried that computer voices and TTS actually works on this model TT. Thanks very much!
One question though. How do I know if IQ Routes and ALG are working? I suspect I don't have a compatible map installed for ALG (United States 825.2159), although I can't seem to find an ALG capable map that will fit on a 1G device. Any suggestions?
Also - I notice some fluctuations in the volume of the TTS voice but its not a deal breaker.
Thanks again - great work!

ALG won't work on 1GB maps, as far as I know. I guess that's one of the differences between the two map versions.
For IQ Routes go to Change Preferences \ Planning Preferences and on the left lower corner you should see IQ Routes. Tap on it. It should be enabled.
I noticed that if you skip this step IQ Routes won't be enabled.
For ALG, I could not see them working in my home city, I had to simulate a route (prepare route and view DEMO at 400% speed) from NY to Albany. After 20Km when it entered whatever Interstate, 800m before the Hwy intersection, I could see that ALG picture with blinking green arrows on the lanes I was suppose to be.
Go to preferences and make sure ALG is visible and not greyed out. On mine, at page 3 of 6 I can see Hide lane images. That means ALG is not disabled.
bluehz 16th April 2009, 23:40 I don't have the mentioned IQ Routes option in my planning preferences - maybe it only appears when IQ/ALG enabled maps are loaded.
I have also noticed your build does not seem to respect the Dim preferences I prefer - dim between instructions. The unit never dims now. Can this be fixed with a switch?
markham 17th April 2009, 00:28 Ooo, not all maps have ALG and IQ routes with navcore 8.410 or other versions of navcore.
You have to check the compatibility chart.
a511z 17th April 2009, 10:19 Works on TT One v4, will test on streets. Many tnx!
Bluetooth options even do not exist, but who needs them...
When dealing with TT Home, according to the guide, going to 'operate my One' menu gives me the following 'Note' "This functionality is not yet supported for your combination of navigation device, you device's application version and your computer's operating system." How do we go through this?
Also, how do I forward favorites from previous map (815 to 825)? Simply copying MapSettings.cfg makes the device to reboot indefinitely..
bobby1607 17th April 2009, 10:44 Your moderator won't like it that you preferred a compatibility map from
the moderator of another forum over his map :punish:
markham 17th April 2009, 18:40 bobby1607: sorry for the wrong chart. I edited my first post.
a511z: BT is switched of from config\setconfig.txt. Edit this file.
Instead of btoff type bton. You need your 266MHz, 32MB of RAM to run as clean as possible.
When you get that error message, "This functionality is not yet supported for your combination of navigation device, you device's application version and your computer's operating system." - can't you just say OK and operate your device?
a511z 17th April 2009, 20:32 It recognizes my One as One New edition
markham 17th April 2009, 21:00 markham: after an error msg, it would not download a file to allow to operate one and returning to the previous state: page 3 of main menu.
I am running the latest home, which is for me 2.6.2.1586
Also it recognizes my One V4 as One New edition.
Mine is recognized as One New Edition. That's not the problem.
OK, browse the root of your SD card and see if you got ttgo.bif and ttgo.bak
Open both of them using Notepad and make sure the two lines are separated, as stated in the SOP.
If you don't have a ttgo.bak (which might be your problem and I will revise the SOP), start from the beginning (without deleting the map folder) and before getting to the part with the Home application, where you operate your TT for the first time, wait a minute until you see a message "creating ttgo.bak".
Let me know
a511z 17th April 2009, 21:37 I have both files present
ApplicationVersionVersionNumber=8140
ApplicationVersion=1218
markham 17th April 2009, 22:25 at this point I would just start from the begining.
SL00 18th April 2009, 17:34 Results for my one V2
map iberia 825.2157
ALG: works
ASR: don't know, need Portuguese voice "Amalia"
IQ Routes: don't know, where's that ?
Bluetooth: Can set my E66 paired with one but connection keeps unstable after 5 secs or so, like connected - disconnected, sec by sec, any one knows a solution?
TT Home Operate my One: I can't patch it, it seems to freeze on "please wait" screen after finding .dll's
despite my problems, great job indeed!
markham 18th April 2009, 17:54 ASR wasn't included for a cleaner installation. BT is turned off from config\setconfig.txt. Change btoff to bton. For IQ you need 825.2157. Check the compatibilty chart.

thanks markham
IQ works good i think, at least it's active
I already changed btoff to bton and connection keeps unstable, is bluetooth fully working on your one ?
About ASR, should I look for loquendoTTS or VocalizerTTS ? witch one works properly on a one V2?
thanks
markham 18th April 2009, 19:43 the less stuff on a 32MB of RAM the better. VocalizerTTS works on V2 or any device with 32MB of RAM. You need 64MB RAM for Loquendo.
I don't have BTon, so I can't respond.
Try the 8.412 files. I am trying to add a tutorial for 8.412 but I cannot get to the index page. It just doesn't open.
an9el 18th April 2009, 20:37 some link to get german voices for vocalizertts???

that's odd, my One is the old fat black (4N00.003), with 32 mb ram and LoquendoTTS seems to works fine. I didn't find any portuguese VocalizerTTS voice, only LoquendoTTS Amalia PT Voice, even in TT Home it isn't avaiable.
To bad about BT, everything seems to work without any problems.
I must say that I've never got BT working properly with these navcores "unavaiable" for my device, by TT Home.
vincentn1981 19th April 2009, 12:18 ASR is only needed when you want to talk to your TomTom and then give it commands. If your device does not have a mic there is no need to install it.
LoquendoTTS is indeed more cpu dependent then memory, because of the Outsourced.bin you can save a lot of ram, which could be used for things like this.
LoquendoTTS has a nicer voice and comes in much more languages.
VocalizerTTS is only in USA english, French (Canadian) and Spanish (mexican), male/female.
To prevent TomTom Home of showing your"There is a new version for your device", you can use the version.txt in the /config map. In there you put the right values for your device, as indicated in the readmenot.txt file and then a new ttgo.bak will made which contains the right values. TTusers SE navcore version forces the TomTom device to continuously overwrite the ttgo.bif file with this .bak file and then when you connected your device to Home, Home thinks you have the right NavCore installed.
To operate yout TomTom within TTHome you only need to install the right *.dll. It was included in the Basicpack of TTuser within a specific directory. Editting the ttgo.* files does not have any effect on that.
Why people want to actually operate there device within TTHome?

thanks for the tips vincentn1981
I confused ASR with TTS, of course one is input the other is output speech. Nevermind that
You mentioned a portuguese (canadian) VocalizerTTS voice, aren't you confusing portuguese with french??

bluehz 19th April 2009, 17:53 What exactly would be needed to get LoquenoTTS working in Markham's build featured in this post?
I have tried several builds, configs with my One 125 (v.8) 32mb and have never had any luck with LoquendoTTS. I can get it to show up in menus and I can pick the computer voice, BUT it never generates any sound, even the test.
I am just overjoyed with Markam's build including vocalizer - first build I have used that actually works with TTS.
markham 19th April 2009, 18:42 to answer why would you need to operate My ONE trough TTHome:
- easier to prepare a route
- from Google map I can send a navigation point or a favourite. Much easier than taping on the small screen.

Hey bluez!
I had the same problem, here's what i did to have LoquendoTTS fully working:
1. Create a folder LoquendoTTS in your sd root or flash memory root. If you already have it, delete every file and folder on it (inside LoquendoTTS folder).
2. copy disered loquendoTTS voice(s) to previous created folder, it should end with some files, "bin" and "data" folders on it.
3. important step. download TTuser's navcore 8.410, and extract ONLY LoquendoTTS folder to your sd or flash root, let it overwrite all files and folders.
there, it should work now, test it and see how it goes

vincentn1981 19th April 2009, 18:59 Indeed I ment French. Thanks for the correction. I updated my post to prevent any confusion.
Humm Google maps together with TTHome could be interesting to use TTHome indeed.
bluehz 19th April 2009, 19:30 Thanks - I read these same instructions everywhere - and it just baffles me. Instructions seem to indicate a LoquendoTTS directory is copied to the TT root then another diectory from the 8.410 build is copied onto the TT root, THUS overwriting the original directory you copied over. This makes no sense to me... maybe I'm not following (or maybe what is really meant is to copy the CONTENTS of the directory - although following directions literally - one directory overwrites another directory).

bluehz 20th April 2009, 16:06 Does anyone have any idea how to get the "auto-dim" function to work again in this build. It has always worked on my TTONE 125 (v8) even with previous 8.410 builds but it does not work with this build.
Any help greatly appreciated!
mister_tom 20th April 2009, 23:07 Hi eveyone!
I followed the tutorial on my Tomtom 2nd gen with the map USA and Canada v825.2210. I keep getting the map error. I have a feeling that the ttsystem patch is not working. Any ideas?
Thanks
Tom

Before patching your map you should start up your TT. Wait one minute untill ttgo.bif and ttgo.bak are created. Double check these two files (on the root of the SD card) and make sure they display the proper application device number. Try patching again using TT keygen.

The files are present in the root directory, the keygen prompts: wrong system or already patched.

I really appreciate you help btw
