SHO_GuN 22nd April 2009, 21:08 Hi,
Thank you to everyone who provides all the information and download resources on this forum! A special thanks to grard31 for writing this how to.
I have successfully updated my GO 700 from Navcore 5.201, map v567 to Navcore 8.412.1236, map v825.2157 without having to ask a question! Wow - what a difference this made to this device:egdance:
Now that I have finished this process, I have come up with a question. I used "Dave's" voice as it was the only english US male listed on the link provided above.
Is there something I can download and extract the approriate files to make a "Richard" voice pack?
:thanks:

drvvb,
You have the folder ASR in the root ? (ASR in US : 8 files for 1871128 bytes)
Caution : voice commands with the GO700 => go to an address not working, the other commands works
grard31
drvvb 28th April 2009, 09:05 Yes I do...Thats what confuses me the most. I just dont see what i'm doing wrong. I have ASR as a folder in the root. Should I take the contents out of the ASR folder and place them in the root?
"Caution : voice commands with the GO700 => go to an address not working, the other commands works"
Does this mean we cant use the spoken address function?

No : folder ASR with 8 files inside
What map do you use ?
"Caution : voice commands with the GO700 => go to an address not working, the other commands works"
Does this mean we cant use the spoken address function?
Yes => since navcore 7.221
drvvb 28th April 2009, 09:36 Well all the other commands are working then. I just couldnt use the spoken address or spoken address dialogue keys that are found after pressing navigate to button and address. I thought we would be able to use them. My map is north america 825v2157

joepoppa 29th April 2009, 01:54 Hi,
I have a x10. I asked this question in the original 8.412.1236 thread but seems that nobody has a solution.
When unit is off:
1) If SD card is removed, after 1 minute, unit turns on.
OR
2) When unit is placed in home charger/cradle, after 1 minute unit turns on.
WHAT IS GOING ON? THIS IS A REALLY BAD BUG.

joepoppa,
1) I have only GO700 and GO910 (no SD card)
2) For GO700 : no problem
For GO910 read here :http://www.ipmart-forum.com/showpost.php?p=2625372&postcount=1
Caution : when you switch off the GO910 and put it on the cradle, after 45 – 50 seconds it automatically restart and connect to your computer

Thanks for the response grard31. Do you know why unit reboots after 45-50 sec? I have that problem (which is the same as #2 in my initial post).
ianc60 30th April 2009, 15:22 It means that the software has crashed, there is a watchdog (failsafe hardware) that will detect if the software has stopped working after 30-40 seconds and automatically reboot.

Thanks for all of this information. Can anyone answer a few questions:
1) I am running the latest official navcore for the go700. Aside from the spoken street names (TTS) is there any advantage to upgrading to an unofficial 8.x navcore?
2) Does anyone have tips for getting better voice quality when paired with a bluetooth phone? I can hear people OK, but they can never hear me well. I even tried the tomtom external microphone, but it did not seem to help much so I returned it.
Thanks

donc,
Yes, to use the maps more complete : TTS, IQ Routes, ALG
With navcore 8.412 : Mp3 player, photos, car icon, helpme...
The easiest way is to try

Thanks for the Info. I did the upgrade but am having bluetooth prolems and I don't like the fact that the GPS no longer switches on with the car.
What I really would like is the standard navcore, just modified to run the Loquendo TTS maps.
Thanks for any help.
drvvb 27th June 2009, 21:23 I have a couple of questions, for the longest time I had nav core 8.412.1236 on my go700.
1) For a while it was working wonderfully, now it seems like it has real trouble picking up satellite signal. Is there a way to make it work with quick fix GPS? Is that the problem?
2)How do I make it work with tom tom home? is that possible?

I don't think picking up sat signals is effected by different navcore and you should patch your TTHome .dll (do a quick search on the "tools")
drvvb 28th June 2009, 02:59 I have patched TomTom home however it says that there is an error and that I am using the wrong version of the software. It does let me download updates fo maps but no, quick fix..i'm very confused. Help?

drvvb,
- With the GO700, the folder ephem (QuickGPSFix) is not usable
- Before starting TTHome, check : In the file ttgo.bif : ApplicationVersionVersionNumber=7903 => if yes : OK
If no : delete the file ttgo.bif, copy the file ttgo.bak paste it in the root of your GO700, remame the copied file ttgo.bak => ttgo.bif
grard31
drvvb 29th June 2009, 05:44 ok so I take that gps quickfix will never work on the tomtom 700. The other question I have for you is why is it taking so long to find satellites. It was doing this once a long time a ago and then I went on a long trip and it got better. Is there anyway it will get better? Anyone have solutions?
saikit 17th November 2009, 02:36 voice input can not regnized...
i have the microphone in the screen and TTS is working. But when i say phone, or call, or any other command, the tomtom go 700 does not response after i click the microphone.
any idea? the size of ASR folder is correct too
