I hapilly stand corrected, cool tweak below by grad for running 2 different navs off a 910's hard drive...
:ilove:
ghost2 19th April 2009, 08:01 terrypot, you are wrong. There is a way to install two independent navcores on the 910's HDD. And grard31 knows how to do that. It's not so convenient as for the machines with SD card slot however possible. Anyway, thanks for your concern.

ericpedro 23rd April 2009, 02:26 Hi grard31,
Apologies in advance for my stupidity, but as far as I can see, I have followed your instructions correctly.
I think my problem is with the Loquendo files, but I am unsure what the problem is.
I have installed the files from the Loquendo folder, and then when I copy the Basicpack, it asks me whether I want to overwrite any files in the Loquendo folder with the ones from the basicpack.
I answered yes, and it did so.
Into the folder D:\LoquendoTTS\EnglishGb I have copied the folder "Kate" from my previous LoquendoTTS folder which is saved onto my hard drive.
It contains the following files:-
Kate.16000.LTTS7CodecMsx.32800.10.bin
Kate.vde
KateGildedParalinguistics.16000.LTTS7CodecMsx.3280 0.10.bin
KateGildedPhrases.16000.LTTS7CodecMsx.32800.10.bin
KateTT.16000.LTTS7CodecMsx.32800.10.bin
However, I think I must be doing something wrong, as when my TomTom Go510 boots up, it takes me through a few set up options, one of which is "English UK", and then asks me whether I want to use "Daniel" or "Emily", neither of which I have.
Can you help me please?
Thanks in advance.

are you saying that I can do either of the options that you have specified, and if that is the case, would you recommend that I use x30 or x10?
Thanks again,

If you are remotely interested, I will let you know of my progress when I try it this evening.
LoneCrusader 23rd April 2009, 22:04 Well, not for me... followed the upgrade from 8.410 instructions to the letter too...
MP3 playing now doesnt work...
nor does my RDS/TMC lock in anymore
it also has a long delay to connect to pc...
I am not impressed so far...
It looks like I will try a fresh install before reloading my backup 8.410,
UPDATE:
Decided to do a fresh install instead of just upgrading from 8.410....
mp3 works...
RDS/TMC locks in pretty quick too...

ericpedro 23rd April 2009, 23:41 Hi grard31,
Apologies in advance for my stupidity, but as far as I can see, I have followed your instructions correctly.
Hi grard31,
I have now done all that you suggested with the Loquendo files, but am still having the same problem.
As soon as I get to choose a voice, I am only given the options of Daniel and Emily - they are both "greyed out", and I am being told that they are not available if I try to choose either of them.
Any suggestions gratefully received?
Thanks.
Raffetti 24th April 2009, 01:53 You are confusing loquendo 6 program and loquendo 7 voice files....
EnglishGB is the folder for v6 voices!!! (kate 200Mb)
Files of Kates you have are v7 voice!!!
you have to put them in LoquendoTTS\data\voices\Kate
I suppose you have the original v7 loquendo voice "British_English-female-Kate.cab" (it contains v7 files and voice)
(you can find links of all voices searching on this forum)
Open the .cab file with WINRAR and extract it into the folder LoquendoTTS! (winrar puts all files in their respective right folder).
You can use the same process for all loquendo v7 .cab voices (simon too!)
You can take the LoquendoTTS\lib folder from the basicpack or from your backup (there is only the loqaudioboard.so file)
If you wish to use instead the v6 loquendo files & voices here are the links:
V6 Files:

Grard 31 - can you confirm that last bit please? I thought that you did not need anything from the basicpack to get x10 voices working, only the downloaded Loquendo folder and the x10 voices?
Thanks!
japhi 24th April 2009, 11:41 Hello grard31,
Everything works fine with my TTGo 910 and Navcore 8.412. I have only one small problem and maybe you have a solution for it.
When my TT910 is on the craddle and my pc is running, I turn on my device but it never asks "make a connection to the pc?" It make always a connection with the pc!
Is there a solution that I have the screen back with the question "make a connection..."?
Thanks in advance (sorry for my bad english)

Cainam and Raffetti,
Yes, I confirm
Otherwise, your folder LoquendoTTS, is not updated
In the folder bin : the file LTTS7AudioBoard.so = 13804 bytes for 8.412 (not 11052 bytes)
In the folder lib : the file LoqAudioBoard.so = 13508 bytes for 8.412 (not 10824 bytes)

When you say:

Do you mean:
Copy the LoquendoTTS from the Navcore Basicpack and overwrite existing files? I have tried both not overwriting and overwriting and although I can select the voice and test the voice in the menu when I actually use the device I get no voice instruction.
I am using the Kate Gb voice from my original 910

bastler 16th May 2009, 11:22 Hi Ocram,
I´m running this navcore on my 910 (the 830 map didn´t work with 7.903), it runs well, only start-up time takes a long time.
After pressing the power button (or put power to it), it takes 45 seconds before the startscreen appears, then it takes another minute before the map is shown....
TMC is working and MP3 player over line-out is also ok, the rest I don´t care (not tested)
Cheers..

I am surprised you mention the message. I haven't been addicted too much on that but... voila .... with 8.413 Navcore the message "connect to computer" is back again.:excited: So, one can choose between the options "connect to pc" or work just as an gps unit while the 910 is home docked. 2. I downloaded SE_Navcore.8.413.1237.Basicpack.rar from here: http://www.ipmart-forum.com/showpost.php?p=2625156&postcount=1

YES !
you need SE_ttsystem.8.413.1237 and ASR in your point 2. You will also need LoquendoTTS from your old backup if you want/need computer voices.

- If the car cradle is powered before putting the GO910 on, it must be turned on.
- If the car cradle is not powered, you can put the GO910 on, turned off or turned on, then you can connect the power on the cigarette lighter plug.
- Car cradle normal or FM transmitter is the same thing.
When you switch off or on the GO910 and put it on the cradle, after 45 – 50 seconds it automatically restart and connect to your computer : it is same for me.
Never use the file MapSettings.cfg of another map.

rdlbooth 18th May 2009, 11:17 Hi, I have my 910 working now with Navcore 8.412 thanks but I dont have the google option or voice control option in my menus, these are present on my GO 700 with Navcore 8.410, have they been removed or have I missed something during the install of 8.412?
Thanks
Les
rdlbooth 18th May 2009, 15:11 Also my 910 is using bootloader 4.8600 should I upgrade it and if so what is the best version to upload to?
Thanks
Les
Raffetti 18th May 2009, 16:18 You can choose 8.350 (best for GO'es) or 8.413 (best for ONE's). They both work!
There is NO need to upgrade your bootloader, but if you wish, the 5.5128 version works also on a 910 (i'm using it).
Use it taken from the ORIGINAL 8.413 cab (put the bootloader file, named symply "system" in your tomtom's root directory with battery FULLY loaded and correctly inserted on the base connected to power supply).
grard31 18th May 2009, 22:24 For GO910 and GO700, it is totally unnecessary to change the bootloader...

rdlbooth 21st May 2009, 17:23 Hi grad31, I have Navcore 8.412 on my GO 910 and would like to get rid of the licence nag screen, is this possible, also when I put the 910 in the car cradle sometimes the RDS-TMC doesnt connect, is there a problem with this navcore and RDS-TMC? also could you tell me what settings I should have in setconfig.txt, model.txt please.
Thanks

rdlbooth,
You have this message because the GO910 reboot.
In the car, for the GO910 does not reboot :
- If the car cradle is powered before putting the GO910 on, it must be turned on.
- If the car cradle is not powered, you can put the GO910 on, turned off or turned on, then you can connect the power on the cigarette lighter plug.
- Car cradle normal or FM transmitter is the same thing.
I have no problem with RDS/TMC.
- open the file setconfig.txt, keep only runclean and changedtext:TomTom GO 940 LIVE (delete all other files), delete 40 LIVE, write for example : 10 with your name, close the file setconfig.txt
No model.txt, it is x40.
If you still have problems, you can add in the file setconfig.txt : cleanflash (you have all settings to make)

rdlbooth 31st May 2009, 13:19 Hi Grard31,
I have set the emu to X40 but it reboots after awhile and starts up in X30 mode, I have tried using Navcore.8.412.1236 and Navcore.8.412.1237 and it is the same with both, is there away to make it more stable in X40 mode?
Thanks

FactionOne 31st May 2009, 18:58 Well, I've just attempted my first GO 910 upgrade (following a history of fiddling with PDA and XL)...
I tried 8.413 first but the device kept hanging at splash screen - I tried 8.412 next and left clearflash in the setconfig.txt (I would've done these steps seperately to find which one was the actual solution but it takes a looooooong time to copy voices and map so I made both changes together)...
The device booted-up and I went through set-up no problem, choosing English (GB) Kate voice (when I pressed Test the voice worked fine)...
I ran a Demo of a route to check functionality - IQ routes appeared to work, and I had lane guidance... Both really great things to see on the 910 - GREAT WORK GRARD31! - THANK YOU! :)
I've also been able to enable BT in configuration, so it seems that is fine too.
I do have two problems though - and I'm hoping you can help me out...
1) When I did a Demo to test, I didn't have any spoken navigation instructions - English GB Kate selected (and tested as above), with Western Europe 830.2305 - I followed instructions in post #1 to the letter (merging voices from my backup to LoquendoTTS folder from 8.412Basicpack) - I made sure speaker preferences were set for instructions to be routed to internal speaker. Does anyone have an idea why I didn't hear instructions?
2) Should it be possible for me to use voice control with 8.412 on my GO 910? The icon in the configuration pages is greyed out...
Many thanks and best regards,
Rob.
EDIT: I've been messing around with the GO 910 since this post and had another couple of attempts:
1) I over-wrote the 8.412 install with the 8.413 components - it still booted, but I had the same problems - version still showed 8.412?
2) I started from fresh again installing 8.413 - but with clearflash in the setconfig.txt - just as before, it didn't boot and I had the same problems.
3) I've just wiped the GO 971 again, and installed 8.204 - it boots, instructions work, and voice control works.
It's frustrating I can't get 8.41x to behave as 8.204 does!
Fleur1 2nd June 2009, 00:21 As a noob, I followed Grard31's instructions. Installed without a hitch.
:thanks::yourock:
Ocram60 2nd June 2009, 15:56 Grard31's, is possible to instal 8.351 on Go910? Is it better of 8.413?
Ths.
ghost2 2nd June 2009, 20:30 Grard31's, is possible to instal 8.351 on Go910? Is it better of 8.413?
Ths.
I'm not Grard31, but I'll try to give you a clue. Have a look at http://www.ipmart-forum.com/showpost.php?p=2694553&postcount=17 or http://www.ipmart-forum.com/showpost.php?p=2694624&postcount=18.
And btw, of course, it is very possible and you can easily do that. If you're not satisfied, you can always return back to SE NC 8.413.:goodluck:
OK I am confused ..... Where do I find the 20450368 Byte ASR file?
Progress so far:
http://i48.photobucket.com/albums/f238/jacbjacb/sofar.jpg
Trying to get all the required files together before I start.
This is my starting point:
http://i48.photobucket.com/albums/f238/jacbjacb/DSCF0024a.jpg
Any thoughts? ...... Is SE 8.412.1236 still the best option for the GO910?
Re backing up before I start, is copying via windows explorer enough or are there hidden files etc?
Do I format the tomtom with a fat32 partition from the PC or ??
Basic questions I know - but we all have to start somewhere .... I do speak PC even if I know little abot TomTom's
Thanks in advance
FactionOne 4th June 2009, 01:06 Hi jacb,
First of all... It might be worth considering editing/removing your first image - I'm not sure I'd be happy with my device code being visible (and posts by others reflect that).
Anyway, I thought it might be helpful if I re-arranged grard31's excellent instructions a little (as far as the TTHome portion) to perhaps help with clarity...
It's worth noting that I had problems with 8.412 and 8.413, but that doesn't necessarily mean you will, and when I eventually settled on 8.2x, having grard31's instructions here clear in my mind was a big help. There are slight differences when installing 8.2x, but there are separate instructions advising the method, and once you have this clear the rest is easy...
I hope grard31 doesn't mind my re-arranging his instructions... All kudos and thanks to him!
Cheers,
Rob.

Preparation:
Download JDownloader:
HERE (http://www.anonym.to/?http://www.anonym.to/?http://jdownloader.org/download/index)
Follow the example showing how to use JDownloader:
HERE (http://www.ipmart-forum.com/showpost.php?p=2566284&postcount=15)
(Follow the example, by doing so you will obtain the folder ASR which is required later)
* Download SE Navcore 8.412 or 8.413 (as required) and the corresponding Basicpack from:
HERE (http://www.ipmart-forum.com/showpost.php?p=2625156&postcount=1)
* Download LoquendoTTS components:
HERE (http://www.ipmart-forum.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=448965&d=1227044472)
* Download Suspend file
HERE (http://www.ipmart-forum.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=450399&d=1227432495)
* Select/Download Map(s)
To find which current (V830 at time of writing) map you need for your device and SE Navcore 8.41x, see HERE (http://www.ipmart-forum.com/showthread.php?t=362584) - posts 1 and 2
To find a link for a V830 map, check HERE (http://www.ipmart-forum.com/showthread.php?t=358942)
Installation:
1- Save the contents of your GO910 in a safe place on your hard drive (best to use Windows Explorer to 'copy and paste' to avoid problems with restoring from TT Home)
2- Clear all the contents of your GO910 (delete or format (FAT32, default allocation unit size))
3- Extract the ASR folder (20450368 bytes - downloaded in the JDownloader example) to the root of your GO910
4- Open the LoquendoTTS RAR you downloaded earlier, extract the folder to the root of your GO910
5- Navigate to the LoquendoTTS folder in the back-up you made of your GO910 earlier. Copy (NOT CUT!) the subfolders: Dutch, EnglishGB, EnglishUS, French, German, Italian, PortuguesePT and Spansish. Paste them inside the new LoquendoTTS folder on the GO910 - Merge/Overwrite as required.
If you did not make a backup, you're very silly(!), and you should read: HERE (http://www.ipmart-forum.com/showthread.php?t=170022)
6- Open the file : SE_Navcore.8.412.1236.Basicpack (downloaded)
Extract the contents to the root of your GO910
-Delete the folders Navcore.8.412.1236@ tomtom.com, Outsourced.8412 and the file system5.5128 from the GO910
-Extract setconfig.txt and version.txt from the switchfiles.zip (inside Config folder) to the root of your GO910
-Open the file setconfig.txt, delete all lines except for:
runclean
changedtext:TomTom GO 940 LIVE (edit '940 LIVE' to '910')
7- Open the file : SE_ttsystem.8.412.1236.rev1.1 (downloaded)
Extract ttsystem to the root of your GO910
8- Open the file suspend (downloaded), extract suspend.ogg to the root of your GO910
9- Add the folders and files (as required) from your backup:
(Folders: art, audiobooks, contacts, ephem, helpme, itn, mp3, photos, raster, sounds, zip...)
(Files: antitheftw.bmp, autorun.inf, splashw.bmp, suspendw.bmp, tomtom.ico...)
10- Install the map :
- Copy your map folder(s) to the root of your GO910
- If required, use Easyusetools to enable/activate the map(s)
Open the folder : Easyusetools_for Keygen_Mapcheck_Metacheck_ttsystempatcher (downloaded)
Double click on : Easyusetools_for Keygen_Mapcheck_Metacheck_ttsystempatcher
Double click on : RunMeforAllAutomatic.cmd
Select : 1 then 1 and follow the onscreen instructions
(If EasyUseTools prompts for your device code, press -enter- to cancel, continue from step 10 below, then once your GO910 has started-up (and you have shut it down again), re-try EasyUseTools)
10- Disconnect the GO910 (using 'Safely Remove Hardware'), let it reboot.
Wait the message : Create ttgo.bak (about 1 minute)
11- Set preferences for your TomTom as prompted.
12- Switch off and then turn on the GO910 to properly save the configuration
Caution : when you switch off the GO910 and put it on the cradle, after 45 – 50 seconds it automatically restart and connect to your computer.
For TTHome2 : I use the old method (I do not handle my GO910 with TTHome)
With XP :
Open folder : SE_Navcore.8.412.1236.Basicpack (downloaded), open the folder Navcore.8.412.1236@ tomtom .com, copy the file 8-412-1236-1.dll
In C:\Documents and Settings\ ????????\Application Data\TomTom\HOME\Profiles\xxxxxxxx.default\extensi ons\Navcore.7.903.9183@tomtom.com (or other), I paste file 8-412-1236-1.dll, I note the file name .dll (7-903-9183-1.dll (or other)), I delete the file : 7-903-9183-1.dll (or other), and I rename file 8-412-1236-1.dll : 7-903-9183-1.dll (or other)
With Vista : C:\Users\????????\AppData\Roaming\TomTom\HOME\Prof iles\xxxxxxxx.default\extension\Navcore.7.........
Thank you very much FactionOne for your very helpfull post ... if I may paraphrase .......

Anyway, I thought it might be helpful if I re-arranged grard31's excellent instructions a little (as far as the TTHome portion) to perhaps help with clarity..... Again, Thank You

There are slight differences when installing 8.2x, but there are separate instructions advising the method, and once you have this clear the rest is easy... Noted ... I will try 8.4x and see how it goes - I beleive that it has worked for some Go910 owners. Fingers crossed!
I hope grard31 doesn't mind my re-arranging his instructions... All kudos and thanks to him!
Cheers,

HERE (http://www.ipmart-forum.com/showpost.php?p=2566284&postcount=15)
(Follow the example, by doing so you will obtain the folder ASR which is required later) .... This is where the problem is ... All goes well and the all.dlc file arrives. jDownloader (following instructions) results in a file called ASR.rar (14.778Kb) and this unpacks to create the ASR folder (93 objects and 19.5Mb) ..... But where do I find the ASR folder (20450368 bytes)?
Stuck - HELP please
Am I missing something very basic or have the various files been changed? :emptymind:
FactionOne 4th June 2009, 11:56 Well, the ASR folder you have as a result of running the JDownloader 'example' - all.dlc is the one I used, but I didn't double-check the file size.
It sounds like you're on the right track though...
20450368 bytes, /1024 to KB, /1024 to MB is:
19.50299072265625...
Rob.
Thanks again FactionOne

Fractal42 5th June 2009, 06:53 My bluetooth setting is grayed out, can't turn it on. And the unit turns itself on after a few minutes after I turn it off.
Any Help?
Update:
All went well and the unit started and all looked good :egdance: ..... But the screen which appears after the user selected picture on start (before the owners details) was just a set of horizontal coloured lines. Taping the screen took one to the owners information and after that all appeared ok ... but, the spoken instructions dont work!? :oom:
Bluetooth worked and found my phone ...... I beleive that a different remote is needed with this combination .... Does anyone know which one to buy? Do you have a part number?
Then I found that the FM transmitter option was not shown. It seems that I need to crate a file called "fmon" and place it in the route directory of the TomTom (at least this is what a Google search sugested). I understand that I create the file called fmon.txt with no contents - then delete the txt extention and place it in the route directory of the TomTom. This should give the FM transmitter option.
Before I could try this my original fault reapeared .... For some time it has been getting harder a harder to start the TomTom. I thought it was software related and by formating the disk and reinstalling the entire software package without various voices etc all would be well ..... Not! I cant start the TomTom.
:blast:
So why does my device not reset (button pressed for 20 seconds+) or start on the holder (FM), USB stand or by itself? .... Some say change the battery, yes it is old and very tired and dosent hold its charge .... but would it stop it booting on the stand with the power supply conected?
Any thoughts or have I got a new paper weight? :hardcry:
I feel it has nothing to do with the software update outlined above.
Thanks
PS ..... If I ever get it started - Has anyone heard of a street map that would work in Ho Chi Minh City (Saigon)?

Second update:
After leaving the GO910 on the stand overnight and endless resets, holding the on button etc etc, the device finally started :excited:. But this is what it was doing before the software update ..... seems very reluctant to start some days and 100% OK on otherdays??? I guess on the basis of "in for a penny, in for a pound" a new battery will have to be found .... Yes, I have seen what is involved in the install !
I did try the fmon trick .... no change when NOT installed on the FM mount. I will try it on the FM mount later.
OH Boy ..... What fun!

Hmmm, may well follow your advice. What are the main differences between 8.20x and 8.41x ? Is their a page that illustrates the differences?
rodent5l 8th June 2009, 06:09 Thank you Grard31 and TTUser.

Hi rodent5l
Congratulations on your upgrade.
Could I ask you to have a look at post "76 (http://www.ipmart-forum.com/showpost.php?p=2696772&postcount=76)" above and tell me if you did anything differently? If you did not there must be more than one type of hardware that is sold as a Tom Tom GO910 .... this upgrade works for some users and not others!
I had a thought - It is possible to make and "ISO" file of the entire GO910 hard disk (Using Nero Burning Rom etc etc) The ISO file could be stored and downloaded from the internet. Whilst I appreciate that any maps etc would have to be unlocked for a different machine I am not aware that the actual Navcore cares which machine it is running on. If somebody (like you) with a GO910 that is working made such an ISO file, somebody (like me) with a GO910 that isn’t working could simply download the ISO, format the GO910 and copy the ISO files to the GO's hard disk. This would once and for all prove if the software install or the hardware is the problems with the rouge 910's.

I followed Grard31's instructions to the letter. (it is the same as post 76)
It took me a long time to get jdownloader to work, I also copied the instructions to a word document and highlighted each item as I completed it.
You also need to ensure that the maps you are using are compatible with the features you require.
Whilst I am satisfied with the current state of my Go910 there are a couple of things that don't work correctly.
Bluetooth is working but will not connect to my Nokia N95
TomTom home will update map corrections and GPS Quickfix but only after canceling out of an error
The start up is not clean, but it does start
That said, it is a small price to pay for the new maps and features.
I can't get enough of that voice recognition!!
Thanks go to Grard31 and TTUser
:thanks:
Hi Rodent5l
Thnks for the feedback.
The maps I am using are:
North_America_825.2157
New_Zealand_825.2203
Western_and_Central_Europe_ 825.2157
I believe that the maps are all compatible.
Regarding the errors you have:
"Bluetooth is working - but will not connect to my Nokia N95". I don’t have a Nokia N95 to test but it does connect to my Sonny Ericson K800i.
"TomTom home will update map corrections and GPS Quickfix but only after cancelling out of an error" .... I have the same thing.
"The start up is not clean, but it does start" ..... Same again, My user loaded picture is fine - then there is a corrupt image .... blue and red lines which clears to give normal usage.
I have made some progress - the spoken instructions now work!
I went back and read:
"For LoquendoTTS (voices x10): example EnglishGb – Kate
- Download :
http://www.anonym.to/?http://rapidsh....Basicpack.rar (http://www.anonym.to/?http://www.anonym.to/?http://rapidshare.com/files/219731691/SE_Navcore.8.412.1236.Basicpack.rar)

http://www.ipmart-forum.com/showthread.php?t=170022 (http://www.ipmart-forum.com/showthread.php?t=170022)
Extract the folder : EnglishGb - Kate
1 - Delete the folder LoquendoTTS of your TomTom
2 - Install the folder LoquendoTTS (downloaded) to the root of your TomTom
3 - Open the folder LoquendoTTS (of your TomTom)
Open the folder EnglishGb - Kate, make a copy of the folder EnglishGb (downloaded) and paste it in the folder LoquendoTTS (of your TomTom), close the folder LoquendoTTS
4 - Open the folder : SE_Navcore.8.410.1218.Basicpack (downloaded), copy the folder LoquendoTTS and paste it in the root of your TomTom (all)"
What fooled me the first time steps were 3 and 4.
3 - Could read, copy and paste the new EnglishGb folder (downloaded) over the existing EnglishGb folder located on the TomTom in the LoquendoTTS folder.
4 - Just didn’t make sense - all that work then we over right the entire folder!? Finally I worked out that it only over rights existing files and probably adds others, maybe even leaves other files untouched?
So - now the voices work but the devices is not stable and sometimes crashes! Sometime it boots with X10 look and sometime x40 tabs (or what I take to be x40 tabs - haven’t owned an x40 device).
Regarding voice recognition ... don’t know what that is or how to use it?
Any interest in the ISO idea?
Regards
rodent5l 9th June 2009, 12:39 jacb
I did all of the file work in a new folder on my hard drive. Only using the original files when requested in the instructions
I backed up my old files then deleted everything from the 910
The files were then copied from the new folder on the hard drive to the 910
the only step taken on the 910 directly was the easytool keygen
The total file size including Australia map is 3.73Gb
Any ISO image would include my device code which I am unwilling to make public
Any ISO image would include my device code which I am unwilling to make public
ok I understand you position ..... But what is it about these device codes that make them valuable? How would a third party use them? Would the device code really be stored in software and if so where?
:criminal:
rodent5l 9th June 2009, 14:12 It is not that the device code is valuable
Some of the things that we do are not exactly legal!
Tom Tom has all of our details from the Tom Tom home setup (or warranty registration) and would quite easily be able follow up on any proven indiscretions.

Ahhhhh ! :thanks:
Regarding not "exactly legal" .... That must mean Tom Tom law and not law of the land! I really dont expect the boys in blue to arrive because I upgraded the Navcore ...... But then again ... the Maps may be more a gray area ..... food for thought.
:holdit:
So - now the voices works but the device is not stable and sometimes crashes!
I can see a battery icon showing low charge just before the device dies (crashes) ..... Even when on the home dock or on the FM stand in the car. I guess it is time for a new battery - order placed. Strange I would have thought the charger could charge the battery AND power the device at the same time .... it appears that it canot!

I would like to load an 830 map of New Zealand ..... I have looked at the compaibility chart (http://www.ipmart-forum.com/showthread.php?t=362584) and 830-2349 seemed to be the required map. I have downloaded it and cant make it work!
What is the latest map of NZ for a Tom Tom Go910 runing Navcore 8.412.1236 if I want all IQ route, ALG etc?
825-2203 worked OK but is out of date.
BiggerDave 10th June 2009, 15:07 There are only 2 v830 NZ maps
830.2348 bog standard
830.2349 (**with ALG but no cspeech, ASR or IQ Routing**)
Either should work with N/C 8.412
** Perhaps tweety39 should/could amend the matrix to reflect this?
viper000 12th June 2009, 09:31 guys, i just want to ask a question, can this version work on a wince 5 stereo, i have garmin, route66, igo8 r3 and tomtom6, but the card is only a 2 gig, is it also possible to put a 4 gig on it? would it recognise it seeing as it would be a 4 gig hc?.
kindest regards.

Strange I just could not get 2349 to work - kept getting a message about the wrong sort of device and the map would not activate.
I will try again .... I need a lesson on how to use the meta.txt information. Till now I have just looked for maps with a meta file.

If you find a map which already has a meta file in then someone forgot to remove this. You need to delete this anyway & create a new one which will be unique to your device.

1) no...all the 8xxx navcores are designed to work on tomtom devices which use linux not win ce...
2) you should be able to get a 4gb card thats not hc which should be ok...I've got a win ce4.2 device happily using one but till now I've had no luck trying any of my sdhc cards on it.

varjomies,
With navcore 8.412 or 8.413 RDS/TMC works perfectly.(reference antenna: 4V00.013)
To revert to an old discussion :
If you want to move from x30 to x40 :
1- Delete the folder setconfig.txt
2- Add the contents of the folder x30andx40, for this :
- Download the folder x30andx40.rar, extract the folder x30andx40, open the folder x30andx40, copy the content and paste it at the root of your GO910
- Open the file changedtext.txt, rename your GO910 (Survitaminé for me), close the file changedtext.txt
3- Disconnect the GO910, let it reboot (select in Windows “Safe disconnect”, disconnect GO910 from the computer (take it from a cradle))
4- Making various settings
5- Switch off and then turn on the GO910 to properly save the configuration (x30)
6- For x40 go to main menu 4 of 4 => Switchx40, switch off and then turn on the GO910 to properly save the configuration
Now you can choose x30 or x40

leddi,
- Do not use the file MapSettings.cfg of another map, you can use PoiEdit
- The old remote control not working with navcore 8.xxx, but you can use the new remote control bluetooth

I think that the new remote is TomTom Part Number 9M00.002 which can be found on the TomTom website here (http://www.tomtom.com/products/accessories/accessory.php?ID=375&Product=890&AccessoryCategory=4&Category=&Tab=0).

freddy99,
Because it reboot.
For the GO910 does not reboot :
- If the car cradle is powered before putting the GO910 on, it must be turned on.
- If the car cradle is not powered, you can put the GO910 on, turned off or turned on, then you can connect the power on the cigarette lighter plug.
- Car cradle normal or FM transmitter is the same thing.

for a win ce device you'll need a navigator version of tt which will let you use the latest maps ,but, none of the maps which you can use will have ALG...that function is currently restricted to devices which can use the more sophisticated navcores:sorry:

ojciec1 18th June 2009, 15:22 Hi,
First of all, many thanks to grard31 and TTUser for the great job!
I installed SE_Navcore.8.412.1236 on my Go 910 exact as described by grard31.
Generally, the GO 910 makes its job, but there are several problems:
1. After boot - between displaying the boot-splash (red hands over "tomtom") and the first program-display - I get a distorted screen (wild multicolored stripes) for about 10-15 seconds. Then, the screen becomes normal. i.e. a map is displayed.
2. Several menus/menu-entries seem to be missing, e.g. the menu for setting the clock is missing.
3. Spontaneously during driving the map-content (streets, target-name, etc) begins to blink and stays blinking until I switch off the Go 910.
I have rather few experiences in patching TT, but for me the reason of the problems could be old, incompatible settings (coming still from the original version 7.903) that did not have been fully cleared - e.g. a mobile-phone that was configured in the original version appear again, although I formatted the HDD before patching.
May be, also the old, uncleared settings caused that I could not successfully install SE_Navcore.8.413.1237 - it hanged in boot-splash for ever.
Any idea about possible reasons of my problems?
How can I clear the content of the HDD/flash in-depth?
Additional info: I use map "Western and Central Europe" V830.2306 and I have set German language and German computer-voice.
Thanks in advance!
Cheers,
ojciec1

Hi grard31,
Thanks a lot for your quick reply!
You seem to have mistaken jacb for me and vice versa - doesn't matter.
Nevertheless, I think jocb meant FM transmitter and not RDS.
I do not understand what has changed, but now, I am having really more menus  ... you are a magician ...
... and I have still some question:
a. What ist better/different in 8.412 compared to 8.413?
b-1. While updating SW-components (e.g. QuickGPSFix) by means of TomTom Home, because of the emulator, the version of the updated SW-components is the original one (i.e. 7.903 for Go910), isn't it?
b-2. If so, are the updated compatible to the version actually installed on the navigator?
b-3. Do you know if QuickGPSFix v7.903 is the same as QuickGPSFix v8.412?
c. Do you also get from time to time a "blinking map" that stays blinking until switching off the navigator? - see the question 3 in my original post.

a: Either one works perfectly with the GO910 (but 8413 is the last)
b-1: in the root ttgo.bif = ttgo.bak => ApplicationVersionVersionNumber=7903, ApplicationVersion=9183 and ttgo.ori => ApplicationVersionVersionNumber=8412 or 8413, ApplicationVersion=1236 or 1237
b-3: QuickGPSFix v7.903 is the same as QuickGPSFix v8.412 or 8.413
c: I never had this problem

Unfortunately I had no possibly to test the "blinking map" phenomenon - I wiil report it later.
@jacb
Maybe, you also set cleanflash in the file setconfig.txt if you have not tried it yet.
I can see in your posting on page 8, beginning with text "This is my starting point:", that your displayed 61 MB RAM only, while one displays 64 MB, that seems to be standard (at least in Europe) - could it be a hardware problem in your Go910 ...?

I have changed the dll as you describe in one or the first post, but I still get an error message. By the way, I have Vista installed in this system. Any idea to solve this problem?
Is the a good and free alternative for TTHome?

Unfortunately I had no possibly to test the "blinking map" phenomenon - I will report it later.
Setting "cleanflash" in setconfig.txt seems to have helped - the "blinking map" problem does not occur anymore ;-)
But I still experience another problem:
From time to time, but relatively often , having switched off my Go910 by power-button, it cannot be switched on again ;-(.
In such cases, the Go910 has to be reset using reset-switch on the back. Then the Go910 can be switched on again.
Do you also experience this problem?
If so, is there already any solution for this problem?

grard31 21st June 2009, 23:44 fonsito35,
Before starting TTHome, check:
In the file ttgo.bif : ApplicationVersionVersionNumber=7903 => if yes : OK
If no : delete the file ttgo.bif, copy the file ttgo.bak paste it in the root of your GO910, remame the copied file ttgo.bak => ttgo.bif
toolmanz - maritime,
yes it is the same with 8.413, but I will make this procedure (2 or 3 days)
ojciec1,
- wait until it is completely extinguished before turn on
- For the GO910 does not reboot :
- If the car cradle is powered before putting the GO910 on, it must be turned on.
- If the car cradle is not powered, you can put the GO910 on, turned off or turned on, then you can connect the power on the cigarette lighter plug.
- Car cradle normal or FM transmitter is the same thing.

OK I confess, I am getting confused ..... it seems that following Grad31’s install instructions on page one of this chain will install SE_Navcore.8.412.1236 on a GO910 that will work in X40 mode with your original x10 voices...... But, when I follow the instructions and turn on the TomTom Go910 it looks like X40 ... or at least what I take to be X40.
Why do I say X40? Because if I go to “Music and Media”, Document Reader, Config ... it tells me that the current config is X40. OK all looks good but why then, did the install instructions tell me to load my original X10 voices, is this why some people have trouble with the lack of spoken instructions?
Are X30 voices and X40 voices the same?
I have now installed a new battery and things are a little better even though I don’t have the little rubber insert that tips the mount forward just enough to make good contact when charging, a piece of tape does the same job and the TomTom now charges and boots. (This is an example picture - My Go910 does not have the SD card reader).
http://i48.photobucket.com/albums/f238/jacbjacb/Back.jpg
I created an install directory on my hard drive and dumped the entire contents to my TomTom after a fresh format. I found the free program “Vice Versa Pro” www.tgrmn.com (http://www.tgrmn.com) invaluable for comparing the two directories and recommend the program to anyone during the install.
I cant try the spoken instruction since I am at work in Vietnam and cant find a map of Hanoi or Ho Chi Minh City that will work – I will have to wait till I get to New Zealand in a few weeks, but I suspect that there will be no spoken instructions – Help?
I have been trying to find a program where I can post a tree with files sizes etc so that those that understand such things can advise..... still looking.
Maybe the voices are making the x40 Emulation unstable, others have reported that all appears OK in X40 then for no apparent reason the device boots in X10?
What is the difference between, X40, X40 Light, X40Light2 etc is it just the icons or are there fundamental differences? I want the FM mount and Bluetooth and like the look of X40 ... Thoughts?

jacb,
If you follow the instructions, you have Navcore x40 with :
- Voices x10 (the best)
- FM mount (if you have FM Transmitter)
- Bluetooth (phone and directory)
For map New Zealand : 830.2349
You can install navcore 8.413, read here :

http://www.ipmart-forum.com/showpost.php?p=2723977&postcount=1
and choose x30 or x40
grard31Thanks grard31
What are the differences between the voices ...... Why are X10 the best?
Do you recommend that I change to 8.413 or are there very little differences between 8.412 and 8.413?
As I said before, I am in Vietnam and cannot find any maps for “Ho Chi Minh City” ... http://www.gps-navigation.at.tf/ (http://www.gps-navigation.at.tf/) has some but they are for Garmin GPS's. Problem is, how can I test to check that the spoken “turn left, right etc” instructions are working? I will probably arrive in New Zealand and find the Tom-Tom mute !!!!
In spite of all this may I say a VERY big thank you for all your trouble.
PS which files do I copy from my backup in order to move my save favourites?
May I also add a vote for ISO files or complete tom-Tom software dumps.
:thanks:

jacb,
- Like many users I prefer the voices of 910 ...
- Navcore 8.413 is the last but I see no difference
- You will have no problem with the map of New Zealand
- For your favourites, you can use PoiEdit

grard31Hi grard31 and thanks again
Regarding New Zealand .... its not the map I am worried about it is the spoken instructions that would not work following my first install. The problem turned out to be the LoquendoTTS folder and files. I had to replace them and then was all well. Then I had the x10 / x40 stability issues and decided to start again. Once again all seems well but I cant test the spoken instructions prior to arriving in NZ due to the lack of a local map.
During the second install I had one or two small issues. Your item:
5: "Install SE_Navcore.8.412.1236.Basicpack contents of the folder to the root of your GO910". This wanted to overwrite the LoquendoTTS folder - I said OK. I did not find the file system5.5128 and therefore I could not delete it.
8: I could not find (helpme) and I therefore could no add it.
All small items but as a novice user they cause some concern.
Regarding PoiEdit - I have downloaded and installed it .... Yet another program to try and understand. The maps are limited, EG I cant find Spain. All I want to do is copy my old favourites. Is it not possible to simply copy files from my backup to the new installation? Perhaps the V8 software and 830 maps make this harder than one might think?

Hi grard31
I did not download file system5.5128 .... after all your instructions just said delete it.
The helpfile folder has been downloaded and installed - thank you.
Regarding my favourites - do I understand that the old MapSettings.cfg is not compatible and that it is only possible to use my old favorites by converting them to "Points of Interest" (POI) and saving them in the OV2 format? What would happen if I simple copied my old MapSettings.cfg to the new map location?
I note with interest that my "favourites" button on the tom tom is greyed out as is "edit favourites" .... perhaps the favourites dont work on this software version and one has to make POI's?
I leave for New Zealand tonight and need the TomTom tomorrow. Fingers crossed that the voices work ... If not its off to an internet cafe where I will follow your instructions above.
Thanks once again
Regards

jacb,
If you copy the file MapSettings.cfg of a map for put in your map, the GO910 does not works
it is only possible to use my old favorites by converting them to "Points of Interest" (POI) and saving them in the OV2 format? : yes

Any idea why the "Change Preferences" - 2/8 - "Manage Favourites" and Navigate to .... "Favourite" is greyed out? Is it as simple as I dont have any favourites? If so, how with the new software, do I make a favourite? Perhaps all will become clear when I start to use the TomTom GO910 with the 8.412.1236 software tomorrow .... perhaps not!? :suicide:

If you dont have a mapsetting file in your map (like when you first buy a tomtom or new map) those buttons will be greyed out as the map has no favourites to manage/display/navigate to untill you add some, which isn't something new in this navcore its the same in all of them...as for adding them, just follow the prompts your 910 gives you (main menu page 2 of 3or4 if you have an sdk installed? add favourite):good2:

Grard31 - I assume you know that this is not strictly true? While it is good advice to never use an old mapsettings.cfg file (as things install more smoothly) it is possible to get an old one working if you have a lot of favourites.

zepol 28th July 2009, 14:00 gee this procedure seem complicated. i updated my 910 on the week end using a GO 730 backup i found on one of the forums also loaded the latest australian map and used the keygen provided. everything went well except i lost the remote functionality and the voice navigation did not work...i found out that the loquendo tts folders ie english, dutch, french were all empty. just copied the same folders from my archive hopefully this will work. i'll test it out tomorrow.

Here is the feed back I promised ....... Everything worked! :yourock:
BUT ..... !
My TomTom Go910 has a connector problem that is stopping it charging and this has nearly driven me mad. Whilst the green light is on, it does not charge .... now don’t go rushing of thinking that I have the "green light of death" problem. I opened up the device and all is well, no burnt components.
It took some time for me to work out that the only way that you can tell that the device is charging is by taping the screen on the GPS signal display, this takes you to a page where the word "Charging" appears below the battery symbol at the top of the page.
By flexing the mount I can sometimes get it to charge. I have tried cable ties and cleaning the contacts which all look 100%, but charging is hard to achieve. When on the odd occasion I can get it to charge it works very well ..... so what do I plan to do?
Has anyone drilled a hole in the case and fitted a bulkhead mounted 1.6mm socket? If so how did you wire the socket to the circuit board? http://www.ipmart-forum.com/showthread.php?t=347305 seems to give the pin outs but quite how to wire it up is beyond my abilities.
This is driving me mad .... since the 910 always seems to loose charge just when you need it .... nearly missed a flight!
HELP ..... Please

I had the same charging problem as you described, but this is before I loaded the current navcore and map to my go910. I didn't know that this unit has 2 years warranty, tt's csr had me send the unit and the car dock to their office in nsw via jb hifi (saving p&h). They ended up changing the mobo and loading a new firmware. It did take a month so beware. Just load your archive back and send it back if you still have warranty, you can always load the patched navcore and maps when you get it back. It was worth the wait I can tell you that.
