View Full Version : TomTom One V2 - Truck & Navcore Help Please
ukrver 25th April 2009, 13:13 Hi All,
I still cannot get my head around what I need to do to get Truck Routing on my TT One V2.
I have looked thru the forum, especially the "Truck" thread but my head is spinning and I dont want to screw up my SatNav by doing something stupid.
My specs are:-
App 7.903 (9183/081205)
OS:2344
29MB RAM (free 6.5MB)
GPS v1.21
Boot 5.3026
Map Western_Europe v660.1256
I understand that I need to install Navcore_8.070.9589 (and I THINK it needs to be an SE version ???)
I also need to install TomTom.Maps.of.Western.and.Central.Europe.TRUCK.v8 .15.2112
What I must do with when Ive downloaded them Im not sure.
I think Ive managed to download these, but dont know if my file sizes are correct for the full versions - Navcore is 44MB and Map is 1.68GB
If anyone can point me to a single post (or set of posts in sequence) which describes what I need to do I would be eternally grateful.
:thanks:

ukrver 25th April 2009, 14:34 Hi Dave
You have just given me a link to a page of threads (again).
I've stated that I'm having trouble figuring out whether I should be using SE or not so having a list of threads to look at (again) doesn't really help.
The same applies to the file size of Navcores and/or Maps - I cannot find this info in threads (maybe Im blind).
I have now spent nearly a week going from thread to thread, post by post and it is confusing for a newcomer to follow. And Im not computer illiterate by a long way.
So, if anyone can help with an answer or two rather than a link to a series of threads it would be appreciated.

The link is to the FAQ section which is where virtually everything is explained.
It's just a matter of patience & reading.
The lazy way is to search for "TRUCK" & maybe find a working dump.
ukrver 25th April 2009, 15:08 removed duplicate post
corne64 25th April 2009, 17:35 The size of the map should be 1.88GB with all the original cspeech files in it.
basflt 25th April 2009, 20:14 I understand that I need to install Navcore_8.070.9589 (and I THINK it needs to be an SE version ???)

What I must do with when Ive downloaded them Im not sure.
0 the files u have must be un-packed with winrar
1 copy content of yer device to pc , for back-up !
2 copy un-packed files to device
3 patch map [ with easyuse-tool ]
thats all
ukrver 25th April 2009, 21:06 OK, Im getting somewhere now.
Ive managed to get the Navcore sorted and it gives me choice for truck options etc.
The Map I have is 1.68GB.
When I try to copy it to the device I am short by 857MB :hardcry: thats to say there isnt enough room on the device.
Im already using a 2GB SD Card - do I need to buy a larger one or is there something I can delete or am I doing something wrong.
I also get a warning message about "dodgy software" if I connect to Home - will taht sort itself when I have done the maps and easytools etc.
Any and all advice gladly received.
basflt 25th April 2009, 21:29 remove all old files from card , after copying to pc , before copying new
do not use HOME
after copying & patching , push reset button with a paperclip
ukrver 25th April 2009, 21:40 do i just wipe out all on K: (device) drive or take out the sd and wipe that clean after putting in new usb slot?
thanks
basflt 25th April 2009, 21:50 it is prefered to use card-reader instead of tomtom docking station [ is faster too ]
if you have more cards , use them instead
if you dont have more cards , COPY CURRENT CARD TO PC , then wipe out
if something go wrong , you can go back by copying back from PC to card
ukrver 25th April 2009, 21:59 Hi
As I have already got Navcore working on device, will it delete that if I remove the sd card and delete its contents.
OR
Are the navcore elements now in the device and not on sd card
Thanks
basflt 25th April 2009, 22:14 yes , deleting means deleting , gone , away , .......
thats why you want to backup first
copy content of yer device to pc , for back-up !
if something go wrong , you can go back by copying back from PC to card
ukrver 25th April 2009, 22:18 OK
So, If I delete it all...........
I then need to copy Navcore AND Truck Map over one after the other and THEN do the easytools stuff.
Is that correct?
:thanks:
:urtheman:
basflt 25th April 2009, 22:39 yep , then reset , then reboot again [ sometimes you need to repeat resetting ]
&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&
one other thing :
if in your [ new ] navcore is a file called system , rename it or dont copy
[ this is for safety , im not sure of it , maybe other users can tell , for i dont have a one ]
ukrver 26th April 2009, 11:52 After wiping my TT One V2 and the 2GB SD Card, I copied the truck Navcore across.
The properties now show 1.04GB free for that drive, but the Truck Map is 1.68GB - it aint gonna fit on my 2GB SD card.
Are there any non-UK files which can be removed to free up the required space?
For a start, Im thinking of non-UK postcodes - but Im sure there must be a lot more I dont need if Im only using the device in the UK
Ideas anyone please?
basflt 26th April 2009, 12:06 licences , help ,
cspeechfiles and voices other than your own language
also ; your card should say 2GB free [ +/_ ] , check it again
anyway , it should fit on your card
my back-ups are 2GB , including a lot of extra's
ukrver 26th April 2009, 12:17 The winrar for my Navcore says it has 380 files at 46,447,223 - so Im thinking that is 46MB? (its condensed down to 33KB in winrar).
So, after extracting that to my device, I should have well over 1.8GB spare shouldnt I? (enough for the 1.68GB Maps)
But the device states just 1.04GB spare.
I dont understand what else is taking up space on the device.
Are there files hidden in the tomtom that need to be wiped clean with a flash program I just came across or should that stuff stay there.
:emptymind:
BTW should the SD card be FAT or FAT32 ?
basflt 26th April 2009, 12:21 no , your device does not need to connect
just use only the card , with a card-reader
ukrver 26th April 2009, 13:23 OK - I now have the new Navcore and Truck Mapping on my device.
:yourock:
But, how do I get to change the truck options? - I was allowed to set this when I added the new Navcore yesterday but have since deleted that and added again.
I cant see where in menu to alter this option?
I have no voices but thats an easy one to sort out thru Home.
Also, when I connect to Home, I get the "dodgy software" message but can still download mapshare stuff.
Do I need to worry about that message - or is there a way to get rid of it?
I also cannot operate my TT thru Home - is that normal for TT One V2 even with these new updates?
Rep added to you Basfit - you are a true star !!!
:urtheman:
$20 donation also made to the forum - keep up the good work guys !!!
:yourock:
basflt 26th April 2009, 13:30 do not let home update ! , or you can start all over again !
for "operate my TT " , you need a special .dll
i dont know where to find it , but other users will know
ukrver 26th April 2009, 17:48 Home has now stopped giving the "dodgy" message and will do GPSFix downloads without affecting the TT.
I now have the full availability of functions on my TT - all 8 pages of menu items which allow to change vehicle etc.
When I enter a route it plans using IQ.
Dont know if it all works as it should until I take it our tomorrow.
Home will start to operate the TT but states there are no maps present (but maps are OK on device) - any idea whats happening ??
Also, Ive just found the MapShare has stopped working when connected to Home - it was OK earlier.
Finally, to everyone who is struggling with these changes, Ive found that you often have to wait upto 10 minutes after each file transfer for it to work. Nothing is happening or changing on TT so you think it hasnt worked, but be patient and I found it does get there. Just one or two very small issues left now.
basflt 26th April 2009, 17:56 your map is un-official , so dont aspect tomtom to update it
aside from that , i find it the best version i had , so far
ukrver 26th April 2009, 18:29 your map is un-official , so dont aspect tomtom to update it
Of course - I meant that I was pleased to get the GPSFix updates not that I wanted the map updates too.
aside from that , i find it the best version i had , so far
I just entered a route and the IQ route has taken me along an A Road, when its only 1 junction along the M5.
Its going to be fun using this for the first few days.
Glad that Ive got my PDA TomTom at hand too.
I might even be really sad and set them both to see what each does. :hifive:
I would still love to get the MapShare to work again and be able to use TT on Home too.
