Why step 3 and what system file are you actually letting everybody install, without them really knowing anything about it? A warning would be nice that you cannot undo this change of the bootloader and it is probably not needed as well.

Why not 8.412 but an old version?

The "system" file is actually system5.5106 renamed to system. For some reason if you don't do this, the device will boot and at some point freeze and reboot, however if you rename it to system, it is stable as a rock....

I have not tried version 8.412 yet, if anyone has a patched navcore 8.412, please let me know the link and I'll test it out.

It took a while for me to get the TomTom One LE (bottom of the unit are 4N00.005) also referred to as the TomTom New Edition or TomTom V4, to work with no bugs, I documented the method above because it worked for me and the unit is faster and more stable than ever... so happy with it.

The system file is only used once, just the time to upgrade the bootloader. Then you can delete it!
That is what Vincent was trying to say....upgrading "system" file (it's the bootloader) should be done only if you KNOW WHAT YOU ARE DOING, or if you experienced problems with the one on your device..because....the BOOTLOADER COULD NOT BE DOWNGRADED!!
Leaving the name of the file in a form like "system551etc." is completely useless. Releasers use these names in order to prevent people to upgrade their bootloader without knowing.

Thanks for clarifying, I am new at this.!

Do you guys know if Loquendo TTS works on my TomTom One v4 (4N00.005)?

I don't really know it, sorry. I don't use sounds at all, I prefer looking at tomtom most of the time instead of hearing the instructions from it!

Yes it will work, if you are able to install it the way it is suppossed to be installed. However because the computing power of the TTOneV2 units is not that high, it will not work that well. It is therefore better to use VocalizerTTS, which is also a TTS voice, but has a little less quality and comes in less languages.
