Hi mate,

I had this error for the first time yesterday too, I believe it is related to the fact that mapinstall always writes the map image to the folder as GMAPSUPP and overwrites any GMAPSUPP Image that resides there (a very handy trait by the simple minded folk down at Garmin). So if you have Garmin running as instucted to communicate with the program it has GMAPSUPP loaded into memory and I believe the error comes from Windows not allowing the loaded GMAPSUPP file to be overwritten.

My cure was to copy my existing GMAPSUPP image to the desktop, delete the GMAPSUPP image in the garmin folder so no more error message, load the new map as normal then rename it to GMAPPROM or GMAPSUP2 etc once it is successfully loaded to the Garmin folder (remembering to rename its UNL file as well to match) then copy my original GMAPSUPP image back to the Garmin folder and all should be well.

Worked for me anyway. Hope this helps.:goodluck:

OK I have an even better solution, throw map install in the bin where it belongs and use Mapsource as all that stupid mapinstall wants to do is generate error messages, totally useless. Mapsource has worked perfectly everytime without having to go through all the above I wrote earlier.
