scoiattolo49 9th May 2009, 03:13 Very strange this post: still TT6!!
Who wants the old versione with even older maps??!!
Omnia can have version 7 (and indeed it does since it was released)...
ChillyCat 9th May 2009, 04:01 Nothing strange bout this installed version at all... :oom: ...yes, V6
I just wanted to try out TT on my Wifes Omnia. I'd
seen several post in regards to issues with gettin it installed.
And even more issues about the quality of the GPS reciever.
FACT: she will NEVER use the GPS software
:hehe: Did you really believe I was unaware there is a working V7 of TT for PPC's ?? :hehe:
C'mon, ya gotta give me more credit than that... *borderline insulting*
I
scoiattolo49 9th May 2009, 13:31 Sorry if I come near "insulting" you... no offence intented ;)
but it's still amaze me that a lot of people find difficult to install TT 7 on their Omnia's... it's sooo easy.
Just you need to find the proper .cab (WVGA res), a PDA compatible map to copy in My Storage and then activate it as usual with one of the many tools available.
Only tricky part (for most people) is setting GPSGATE (or similar program), needed for the internal GPS to properly work with TT (you need because the GPS driver used by TT is not directly compatible with Omnia gps). The virtual port (COM 6) then appear and you select that from TT
Once is set up you first start GPSGATE then TT and everything works like a charm :)
For even simplier usage, you can use Mortscript with a simple script and you have a one button press operation.. it start everything and closes all when you exit TT :) :)
:egdance:
PS use a recent ROM since the Xtra (AGPS) handling is much better in recent releases
PS PS this little tutorial/reminder is not for you Chillycat... but for all people out there that seems to have problems
ChillyCat 9th May 2009, 16:23 ... no offence intented ;)
is setting GPSGATE
scoiattolo, I wuz just busting your balls..:D [we cool] :D
Listen to this....So I was at some Omnia forum and everyone's doing this...or that, and some others were doing the that or this. GPSGate and a bunch of other shared gps type apps. Com port 80,40,60,2374 & every baud rate under the sun.
I drug out one of me older cabs left over from my Dell Axim 50, x51v days and popped it into the SD card.
Booted up, tapped the red hands and within 35 seconds had a fix and I wuz off to the races. Great fix, and everything functioned as it should.
Didn't make one settings change. No GPSGate....nothing.
As you scoiattolo, I don't understand what the big deal here is with the Omnia. It's a PPC, therefore it works just like a PPC.
Is a VERY cool phone, but i'm holding out for the HD version , which probably will force me to change cell carriers if Verizon can't convince Samsung to make a CMDA version [unlikely]
PS: Don't stop with the tutorials.... I need all the help I can get
PSS: clear out yer PM box........it's full

updating the Omnia. Took it out
yesterday for a 150 mile round-tripper
and worked great.

ChillyCat 18th June 2009, 02:58 if someone could just direct me
First of all....... hunt down both the map and the navcore you see in my screenshots
One folder will contain the TT's OS....navcore
Other folder will be the named map you'll be using
Then simply use Alberts Easy as Pie Activator and yer all done.
Every piece of info you should need is here on this forum. If you
get stuck, there's plenty of folks who'll bail ya out.

Man, did you pick the perfect day for that comment.
Mrs CC had a conference/meeting in an area of Pennsylvania she'd never visited before. On her way home, there was a horrific fuel tanker crash, and the route westbound was closed. After waiting 2 hours to get off the back'd up exit, she navigated herself thru 120 miles of backwoods country roads in a different direction everyone else was taking. She called several times telling me how thankfull she wasn't following 1000's [and I mean 1000's] of other vehicles......all trying to get the hell out of there.
One things for sure..... I'll never hear these words from her mouth EVER again.
" I don't need any GPS stuff on my phone"
Voltorr 18th June 2009, 15:01 okay... lets see, do i download the first link (below "all cracked and patched cab installers: VGA black, QVGA black and Qvga blue") or the second link(data.chk)? What is the difference between them?
Also the omnia is wqvga and all of those files seem to be for vga?
I'm taking baby steps here....

Q ='s our Phone, the Omnia
I used the blue.
So yes, that's the main installer....Navcore and everything else you'll need's, in that pack. This part of the install will nest in the folder you'll drag onto your MicroSD.
Then, simply place the "named" map folder onto the same MicroSD root. [not in the folder of the main installer above]
Then it'll be time for Alberts

You made any progress yet ??
Cisco_guy 20th June 2009, 13:49 wow you are so good
