View Full Version : Navcore 8.412 Versus Navcore 8.413 differences.
VWGolfman 27th May 2009, 01:56 Hi,
Upgrading from Navcore 8.412 to 8.413 on my TomTom One V2 I have noticed a couple of differences.....
By the way I am using map UK & ROI 830.2305
1) There are at least 2 roundabouts near my house where a left turn should be indicated as you approach it (the white graphic on the blue background at the bottom). However the WRONG graphic is displayed with 8.413 and instead of a roundabout symbol, a junction with 4 roads coming off of it is displayed. This same junction symbol is displayed 3 times identically all next to each other.
Would this be an 8.413 bug or maybe a map data bug?
I didn't have this problem with 8.412 but I may have been using a different map then.
2) When I powered my device on with 8.412, I could configure it to always ask for a destination (Navigate to?). I cannot see this option in 8.413.
Does anybody know anything about this difference?
Many thanks.

1. Give me locations/co-ordinates for the roundabouts, and I'll take a look.
2. NC 8.413 Second item in Start-up preferences is "Ask for a destination.
VWGolfman 27th May 2009, 22:51 Hi tendriver and thank you for your time.
Taking the second point first, I don't have "Start-up Preferences" in my NC 8.413 menu system!
I did in NC 8.412.
In the main menu I have 2 pages and in the "Change Preferences" menu I have a further 6 pages. I cannot find "Start-up Preferences" anywhere. How strange.
For the roundabouts.....
1) 50° 45' 25" N, 2° 12' 42" W
Approaching from the North-East on the A31 and turning left to head South on the A35.
This indicates a left roundabout turn symbol initially (correct for my route) but as I approach the roundabout the symbol changes to a junction symbol (incorrect and I am unsure why the symbol changes anyway).
2) 50° 49' 47" N, 1° 52' 20" W
Approaching from the West on the A31 and turning left to head North-East on the A31.
For this roundabout the TomTom indicates a junction symbol instead of a roundabout. Not only that but it displays the same symbol 3 times next to each other (I have my info bar at the bottom of the TomTom screen and the three symbols display left to right next to each other). It is possible that the incorrect symbol is displayed once only changing to three as I approach the roundabout (I don't remember now).
Thanks again for any help.

You got a bad navcore. MM is 3 pages & Preferences is 8. I'd download a different copy. I'll get back to you on the roundabouts.
yDdraigGoch 28th May 2009, 00:43 Do you have Show ALL Options or Show FEWER Options in Change Preferences Menu?
What device emulation mode are you using?

On my unit Show Fewer Options reduces Preferences to 3 pages. He has 6. If that's any help.
yDdraigGoch 28th May 2009, 01:08 If that's any help.Yours is not a OneV2 or the Device with the prob, so not really.
Never heard of a 'bad' navcore....
Duff installs crash/reboot/etc.. this unit runs so is a SetUp issue so lets fire some ideas that fit the brief.....
Another thought is the upgrade process....
was it a clean install of 8413 files or an 'overwrite' on top of the 8412 loaded previously?
VWGolfman 28th May 2009, 01:22 Hi again guys.
I am showing all options in the menu.
It was a fresh install after formatting the device's SDCard.
I copied the contents of SE_Navcore.8.413.1237.Basicpack.rar to the root of my SDCard
and then
copied the contents of SE_ttsystem.8.413.1237.rar to the root also (replacing any files with the same name).
I don't really understand the switches and config files so used the same as NC 8.412 which is.............
Config folder with model.txt and setconfig.txt
What should model.txt contain?
setconfig.txt has the following entries......
model:x40light2
runclean
sdid:1
delgns
delmap
ttson
btoff
rm
nomsg
usesetting
danielpop 28th May 2009, 01:34 x40light & varianta - fewer options (only 6 pages in preferences)
x40 - more options (8 pages of preferences)
First issue is surely a map-related issue.
yDdraigGoch 28th May 2009, 13:28 Point 2.
x40light & varianta - fewer options (only 6 pages in preferences)
x40 - more options (8 pages of preferences)Thanks for that, danielpop
Point 1. Map Display = 2 suggestions -
easy = try other map refered to in Post #1
not so = load 8412 & compare map currently running
As it is early days for 830 maps & 8413 App, such issues will take a while to be noticed &/or reported...........
so you are your own Crash Test Dummy / Guinea Pig for the time being, it appears.....
:goodluck:
VWGolfman 28th May 2009, 21:52 I have tried 8.412 with 830 map today and still have the issue.
It seems it may be the 830 map.
Strange how this could creep in when the 825 map was fine :D

You've got nothing to lose trying NC 8.413.
