I've extracted the files not only on my desktop but ive used android's zip app to do it there too..

there is no apk.

what exactly am i supposed to do? i hate to be a noob around these parts but im seeing everybody say 2 different things.. rename the extension (did that.. it still remains either a folder or a rar/zip archive file) and ive extracted. no .apk file.. i get a folder with a bunch of xml documents and dex files and stuff. i see no .apk.

help would be appreciated. as i have found 2 topics with the instructions but i still don't have a clue. ive been searching this section for 2 hours. thanks in advance.

you dont extract the file, all you do is remove the .zip part from the file. so if you have a file named bean.apk.zip, all you would do is remove the .zip so it ends up as bean.apk

that is all

How ever there are some files that need to be extracted from the zip file. Rule of thumb is:
if file ends with just .zip extract
if file ends with apk.zip remove .zip from file name
