I have an HTC touch HD and I download TomTom 7.915.9196 from the forum and map iberia 825.2159
Everything is working fine except voices! It says that there are no voices, i've downloaded voices from internet, I install them and it still dont working!

Can anyone help me?

I could not get the standard voices to work (.cab type) but the earlier ones work (.vif)

I just found out you can expand the cab files and inside are the .vif files. I then copied these to my sd card root (voices) and they work.

I think you are mixing up things a little bit... :wrong:

The voice files have .chk extension and the file name has this format: dataXXX.chk

The .vif files are not the voices files: they are simply text files that contain the description of the voice: nome, male/female, Country, flag, version, etc. They have the same name of the main voice file, only with the .vif extension (e.g. dataXXX.vif).
You can open (and modify them) with a simple text editor.

Some additional voices may have a .bmp file (same name of the main voice file)... that is the picture diplayed when you select the voice. If not present the standard (male or female) picture will be diplayed.

Voice files have no .cab extension.. .cab is an installation file for WM !
those you found and extracted are simply the voices that were supposed to installed togheted with the main TT7 program.

PS proper place for voices should be in \Program Files\navigator\voices\ (internal memory or card depending on where you installed the TT7) :good2:

Hope for something else to try, HTC touch pro 2 winmo 6.1 install tomtom to device and maps to microsd it is working fine except no voice, I have placed voice folder in proper path on device as shown in quote. Thanks in advance

create map "voices" directly in rot of SD-card.
Try DL voice thru TTHome2.
I think TThome2 place voices in that map when you DL free/standart voices thru TTHOme2.
There should be 3 files for each voice: i.e dataxx.vif, dataxx.chk and dataxx.tlv

Thanks tried it but still not luck, may reinstall after getting rid of all traces of tom tom.... folders, registry...etc. Voices are not critical but very nice to have.

UPDATE: Misread what you wrote... So I made maps/voices in the root of microSD and that worked! voices now working. Thanks again:urtheman:

Make sure the voices are a compatible format (some of the special voices around don't work for TT7), i.e. try first to use the standard voces and make sure they work.
Standard voioces are Tim and Jane for UK. Chiara and Roberto for Italian, etc. etc.

Proper place to place them is the one I already indicated.

Couldnt get the voices to work on my TouchPro with NRG ROM (WM6.5) either. In the end i removed TT 7.915 installed 7.910 official for HTC, downloaded the voices though TTHome2.7 (it will ask you where it should install the voices, I chose SD card). Upgraded to 7.915 by replacing exe and data.chk file. Still cant get custom voices to work tho.

Yep they are the right voices for tt7, path is correct, and thanks again for you help
