Because in this section it's against the rules to open a thread unless it's for posting a new app or map with proper screen shots and proper description (Symbian OS9.x Apps rules apply) i decided to open a sticky thread where you can post any question, problem, info, or just general discussion symbian GPS related witch doesn't fit in threads already open.
Do not use this thread for maps requests, there is a sticky thread dedicated to it.
Of course, post here in a proper way, do not swear or verbal abuse anyone and remember this is a friendly forum so be polite & keep it that way.

Hi ioji,

My question is i have a N78. I download the latest application from here (ver 3) & maps too for my Country (India). It seems that its not working. I am having problem locating places & it seems that my driving licence has expired. The application is very slow. Do you know any other application which can provide me with this. I am also looking for it show my current altitude, position, speed (avg.speed), distance travelled.

Hello

Could someone please make a list of links to threads with gps applications working on S0v5?

I tried Sygic v 7.71 but is doesn't work on my N97. Maybe I have the wrong version, because I read that people do have Sygic working on their N97.

Also I am looking for Ovi maps for my N97.

As there is a section specially for S60v5 applications and one for S60v5 games, I wonder if there couldn't be created a subsection GPS for S60v5?

Use Garmin v5.00.50, work great with N97. Learn how to search on our forum, you will find it, also the maps you need, there are for the whole world.
And if you search, you will find the section for apps and games for your phone. But you need to open your eyes and look...

hello i've bought a new n97 but on the box there is a sticker says that the GPS navigation system is removed from it because it's only made for my country (syria)
and when i open the positioning settings i only see bluetooth GPS option
is the intergated GPS and the assisted GPS are removed from the software like some friends of mine said or the whole chip is removed from the device and how can i know??

You can use whatever you want than. It depends of your region, if there is a good and updated map.
Garmin, Sygic,NDrive,Route66,Navigon,etc, all are "free".Give more detail about witch country are you from.

You are a lucky one, all navigation systems got the map for your country. Now it depends of what interface you like. I'll recommend Garmin, very good, reliable, good maps, you will find everything in this section, latest version,maps and guide about install.

hello , can anyone help me with following problem ?
have installed garmin xt and sygic (latest versions) on my nokia 5800, the GPS on both devices showing me about 50 meters behind my actual position. first it worked well with version 5.00.30 from gmxt,
tried a lot of things like format/hard reset, again installed the devices
but no succes,
anyone ???

This is a very strange and unbelievable thing, what, if you live in Syria you can't have access to GPS? Now i am curious too... Try to rewrite your software and if it still doesn't work, you don't have the GPS module.

hmmm....how to rewrite my software?? ,u mean like update it from nokia??
the shop clerk said that they have tried to change the software but it didn't work but he said that there is a way to activate the GPS module but it will void the warranty so i refused to do it but i'm curious what is the way??
by the way the GPS isn't the only thing that is banned from access in syria
we don't have youtube ,facebook ,tagged ,the secondlife.com project is banned too ,arabic version of wikipedia :D hehehe ,etc
so it's not very strange aroud here

Yes, updating the software was my solution. I don't know if it works. If i were you, i'll try everything to make it work, even loosing the warranty... But i am a big fan of GPS. You payed a lot of money for something you can't even use. This isn't right.

My previous Garmin was working fine

Do it again or install the standalone version. You missed some files, you did something wrong. Be careful and do it again. It will work.

You can overrite files, but i, my self prefer to delete and uninstal everithing before a new install.

Yes, it has. But for how to use it, or installation of a new navigation on it, well, you have to read like everybody here. There are plenty of threads about it, just search for it. You have to understand that i cannot teach every member of this forum. Good luck.

hi still new at this, finish installing the Garmin xt version 50040 and manage to get the in-built gps working but i dun have any maps (not sure what to used in the first place) any help would be kind ... i already d/l some maps (the image file) but when i open garmin it says no map ??

I have install the MFM v1.72 malaysia & singapore maps.The problem is sometimes the maps will show the bank,petrol station and others logo but sometimes never show out.One more problem is when i press 1 or 3 the maps never zoom in or out

Once again, it's a matter of taste and it depends of witch has the better and updated map for your needs. A good navigation software with old and outdated maps is no use at all.

I guess you messed up something. You must have "settings/display/text(language) in your garmin. Try a fresh install and try another package, let's say 5.00.30 standalone. After that you can upgrade to this version. You must have a version who has all the files, including all languages and voices.

It doesn't detect it because you didn't made the sw.unl file for unlock. Make some time to read more about it, there are sticky threads, read them.

I don't know if this is the correct place to post this doubt but anyways here it goes:

Suppose I use Location Tagger to "glue" in a .jpg photo the GPS coordinates of the place where the photo is taken using a Nokia N95. Afterwards I can submit the photo to panoramio or I can use certain software to visualize in a map (google for example) the exact place where the photo was taken.

Now imagine I still have the photo in my cellular and I want to retrieve the coordinates and paste them in Garmin Mobile XT for example in order to drive to that exact place. Which software (If any) allows me to visualize those coordinates from the EXIF data and that allow me to use them in a navigator software for example.

I'd be greatfull if someone knows a way of doing this in a Nokia N95. :thanks:

If you own a Nokia N71 (and i had to guess because you didn't say) you must press two keys simultaneously, 1 or 3 plus shift.
When you have a problem, you must give all the details, there are phones very specific.

can somebody help me ????the program works fine on my 5800 but i have to turn on the agps and the internal gps i dont want the agps because every time you switch it on i am charged .the internal gps of the device seems to be weak because i cant fix satelites for a long time .(thats why i have to swith on the agps)can you tell me any solutions because i think i have to take a nokia bluetooth gps receiver which i think it has stronger receiver than the 5800 so i will not be charged am i right???please can somebody give some advise???

Yes, i think it can. But you need a program called "extgps", it's java as i remember. I didn't try it, i just have read about it.

Hi

I have a question, before I had a N958Gb phone and I had GPS installed and it worked great had a lot of help from here to make it work (Garmin). Now I recently bought a Nokia N97 and It was an expensive phone and I actually didn't know that there wasnt a free built in GPS in it, I mean such a expensive phone and I have to pay for GPS!!! So I tried to install the free GPS program that I had kept from my N95 but N97 doesnt want to exept this program.

So finaly to my question: Is there any "program" out there or information that I can use/read that works whit N97 or do I have a phone that free GPS doesnt work?

Someone that can give me a hint or something.

hi,
When i use the sygic with my e90, all works fine and the indications are played fine,
But when i use in conjunction with my bluetooth handsfree (supertooth light or jabra sp500) the
First 2-3 seconds of each indication is not played by the handsfree.
By example, if the indication was "after 300 meters you´re at destination" if i use with bt handsfree, only "meters you´re at destination" are played.
Existts any way to edit the voices to insert 2-3 silenced seconds? Or any soft that maintains active the ct connection? Or any other solution!

i'm using nokia 5800 (v30.0.011) and garmin 5.00.60 and sometimes while browsing the map it freezes and after about 30 seconds shuts down. it was also happening on garmin 5.00.50 and v20.0.0.12. anyone experienced the same problem?

I installed Route66 v8 in 5800XM. The app opens fine and the WE map is open, but there's no touch response, i can't do anything without it.
Is there any other modified R66 to recognize symbian touch or any solution?

Hi people, i`m in dilemma, so need some explanations. I`ve read all installation instructions for Garmin Mobile XT, and successfully installed it on my Nokia N73 with Adria 2.3 + SCG 2.0 map pack. My question is - Does Garmin XT need GPS device to show map or is it possible to view the map offline? I can`t see the map, although program shows them in settings, as they are in use. Maps are unlocked, program is hacked.
If answer is yes, can you suggest me alternative GPS program, with offline possibility of viewing maps?

p.s. Sorry if there are similar questions before mine, i`m new, so didn`t have time to read all posts.

I think No.Cause route66 Are usually installed on Non-Touch Symbian Phones. So maybe thats Not Gonna work.Or try Instaling Virtual Keys.

I was wondering (if you know) if there is a way to transfer my contacts from the mobile to my car.

Hi i have problem with my Nokia 5800 XM gps.
i use nokia maps to route,and use only gps,without data transfering. but its a big problem cause when i go into nokia maps it doesnt show my location.after a while i press to finde my location and it does show only my last time location!and it seems that it cannot find satellites. but sometimes i press ''drive to'' and after a while it finds satellite and all is ok!i just dont get it how to make it find satellite?sometimes i wait about 30 min and nothing and sometimes i wait 5 minutes and it shows!sometimes it helps when i press ''drive to'' but sometimes not.and place where i am is the same!is it normal?or i do something wrong?maybe it is because i have all europe map on my nokia???if i have only country where i live satellite will find faster my location?pleas guys help me!

I've finally installed everything apart from the voice files which I'm just about to do.

When I load it up it's showing the route in a straight line and not via the roads. I've read through and not seen this problem before on the threads.

Please help, I can't tell you how long it's taken just to get to this point...

Now worked this out.

Final questiona and I think I've cracked it. What folder do I save the voice file in? I tried it in a file named 'voice' and it wouldn't recognise it...

To save space put only maps for your country.
Locking in on satellites sometimes takes time. It depends on the weather conditions too. If the sky is cloudy, its hard to get the sat's locked in. Try to remain under open sky. My experience with sat nav apps suggest that Garmin locks to sat's faster than Nokia Maps. I lock sat's with Garmin, exit it, and open Nokia Maps. It detects sat's in seconds after having locked in with Garmin.

I lock sat's with Garmin, exit it, and open Nokia Maps. It detects sat's in seconds after having locked in with Garmin.

It does not matter cause the sat's do not read your maps. They just provide you your location based on GPS signals.

Personally I would recommend Garmin over Tom-Tom. Garmin seem to update thier maps more often and has a more user friendly interface.

No, you are in the right place. The voice file (vpm) must be in "voice" folder and this one in "garmin" folder.

That's what I've done. You mention the voice file is a vpm file, but I don't seem to have this on the one I downloaded which may be the problem.

The files I have in my voice folder are:
alphanumeric.pak
INFO.INI
INFO2.INI
MENU.PAK
navigation.pak
test.wav
VSSVER.SCC

The voice file I downloaded was from here and contained lots of different langauge voice files in one rar file. It contained 2 english UK voices, I've tried both and neither worked.

That's what I've done. You mention the voice file is a vpm file, but I don't seem to have this on the one I downloaded which may be the problem.

You got voices for Sygic a guess, not for Garmin. :suicide:

I think No.Cause route66 Are usually installed on Non-Touch Symbian Phones. So maybe thats Not Gonna work.Or try Instaling Virtual Keys.

Anyone has problems using Garmin Mobile XT (5.00.60) on Nokia E52?

It's unusable for me, crashing as soon as I start navigating, zooming in and out etc. It just blocks and I have to use Jbak TaskMan to kill Garmin's process.

Anyone know how and where to install the vehicle icon for the garmin?

You Download them from the Garmin site (for that you use google and do a search using these exact words: "Garmin All Vehicles Bundle" then download them directly from the Garmin. It's a 20Mb pack or you can just download the ones you want.

Then you go Inside Garmin folder (on your card) and create (if it isn't already created) the folder "Vehicle" and then you paste all vehicles that you want (extension .srf) into it.

Then you select (using the software menus, don't remember exactly where) the default Vehicle that you want to use And that's it!

I have a problem with garmin XT on Nokia 6210 Navigator.
I have been installing GarminXT in versions 5.00.10; 5.0040 and 5.00.50 (same results)
Maps: Garmin MapSource City Navigator Australia 2008
I follow the instructions everything seems to be great. Garmin sees the maps, sees in-built GPS but....
No matter how long I'd keep my phone outside and wait for a satellite signal it doesnt happen...the progress bar: "Awaiting better GPS accuracy" is getting green then white then green again (so it looks like trying) but it doesnt work. It just keeps searching.
Once I connected external GPS it was fixed stright away...
moreover the same Garmin works perfectly on N96 (with inbuilt GPS)

whats wrong?
Could be Internal GPS broken (it was working on Nokia Maps untill license expired) or blocked?
please help

Seems that your internal GPS is broken somehow or faulty...
See if it works with Nokia Maps (even without a license should work to detect your position and to show you that you are moving).

If it was a software problem from Garmin, it wouldn't work with an external GPS or would be acting exactly as it is with the internal which isn't the case!

Either take the cellular to a Nokia Repair Shop... :afraid: or you can use the external GPS...

I have the same BIG problem on my nokia 5800.
every GPS program (Ndrive, sygic, garmin) works perfect, but my battery runs for only couple of hours after I install the program. Even if I use the program just for a minute. After exiting the app it is like something is still running in the background, but I can´t see what.
anyone have the same problem or know how to solve it?

Install Garmin, latest. Run, go to tool/settings/system/launch background service, set to "on", than turn off Garmin. Run it again, set the background service off, that's it, no more drain of battery from Garmin.

those marks signify that you are connected to the highspeed network, be it 2.5G, 3G or hspda. Something is accessing the network.

I got GarminXT v. 5.00.60 from here and put it in my N95 & N96 and a new N97. Everything works fine on all 3 phones except that unfolding of the maps on the N95 is slow and on the N96 everything works with a very annoying delay.
So changed back to version 4.10.60. The result is that on the N95-1 it works perfectly and I will not go back to version 5.00.60. My problem is that I cannot make v. 4.10.60 to work on the N96 - no matter if I put it on the card or the phone memory. Can you pls tell me if there is any special trick I must use because I do not really like v. 5.00.xx because I think it is slower and has almost nothing to offer except maybe fancier graphics???

I think there is a file you can delete and turn off internet access for updated traffic info. That may help. Also if you only install the maps for your area and not the whole country it can speed it up. Lastly to speed up moving around the map try and zoom out as much as possible then move around.

Thank you Cobrin for your comment but I still have some reservations....

I read somewhere that it is mostly the POIs that delay the function of the program. Another think is that with version 5 you must delete gmsup.ini from Garmin\Apps right after installation.
Recently I tested version 4.10.60 on my N95-1 in Melbourne+Adelaide, Greece and Istanbul, loaded on the memory card with all 3 maps and POIs etc and had NO problems at all. Quick and accurate - just fantastic. But for some reason the N95 gets slow with v. 5 (maybe as it is an old-slow phone) and on the N96 the v. 4.10.60 installs OK but refuses to open....
I suspect one that one of the following thigs are to blame:
1. Version 4.10.60 is incompatible with N96 or
2. Some Garmin files must be placed in the card and some others in the phone mass memory...
I am really frustrated with the N96 which is supposed to be better and quicker than the old N95...

Yeah that sounds weird cause I have garminXT 5.00.60 on a a N96 and it's the same zippy'ness as on my N95-8gb. I had 42.00.00 on them and they were fine. I wonder if there is a compatibility problem with 41060.

I used version 42 and 50 in Cairns ,Sydney,Perth with no problems. You should try Ovi maps v3.0 it is lightning fast compared to Garmin and have been using it a lot over the last weeks and like it very much. I prefer Garmin as it's like a yellow pages and poi,redlight cams and speed cams are great.

tiz nice to have a choice...

try the ovi 3.0 and DL "only" ovi map loader for the pc you cant go wrong.

Sure something using it. Install Jbak Taskmanager or KillMe and try to see what processes are running. Maybe UltimateVoiceRecorder who save recordings to MassMemory, or similar.

it sounds like you have something that's running is using the mass memory. You need to find what is using the mass memory and either change it to phone memory or stop it from running when you want to connect it to the PC.

The EGNOS system (European Geostationary Navigation Overlay Service) will utilize three satellites and 40 ground stations to narrow the horizontal accuracy and make some improvement over the vertical accuracy.
EGNOS will be paving the way for Galileo project, a European satellite system which will eventually stop EU’s dependency on U.S’s GPS satellites by 2014.

I have a quick question.

I am running Garmin XT on my Nokia N82.

I am using an English version of my map for Taiwan.

The software is working fine. I can track my movements and I can navigate.

HOWEVER: I cannot find addresses when I type them in.

For example: If I type...."342 Maicun" into the address field it says: NOT FOUND

Question: Is this because I have not unlocked the map?

when searching your suppose to enter the city, then the house number, then the street name.

if you can try again just put in the street name not the number.

so it should be like this

1 Spell City
2 Enter street number
3 Spell Street Name

search through the results. It can also help if you skip putting in the house number, if it is not found.

It's Garmin XT, for most of users it shows position 30-40m behind. Using a bluetooth GPS won't solve the problem.

guys i have sony ericsson satio, i tried installing garmin xt v .50 i copied all the folders and then installed the .sis file, but when i try to launch the application on the garmin splash screen it asks me to switch bluetooth on, the application exits itself irrespective of i choose yes or no. plz help me guys im not new to this garmin stuff i have previously installed garmin successfully on n82, e71, omnia etc but im facing real trouble here, plz help

Hello, i finally found out how to, you have to do it with a pc program by garmin called POILOADER but, the voices didnt work for me i only heard a beep beep and i had to look screen to see the name of the POI when approaching, even though they had the same name as the pois but with mp3 extension. Anyway, after trying garmin mobile a few days i noticed it lags a bit and i dont like the way it says some indications...
I went back with good & old tomtom 6.02 because i like the way its says instructions and being able to put different voices for POI. Even though map arent updated,i use a external bt holux gps, i have to use virtualkeyb im finally happy with my 5800 gps app.Also ive noticed in 5800 it runs much better than n80. (I didnt use the tomtom gps bult in version, because that version didnt work for me before,tomtom didnt open; i used the version i had for
n80 9.1 symbian)

I loaded up Mapsource and downloaded 15 rars only to find there was an error.

So I sourced another map City Navigator Europe NT 2009 from a friend assuming it should work. gmapsupp.img. This maybe my problems but I have followed all the instructions and unlocked the software. Checked and it works.
GPS is working internally.
Base map is uploaded.
I am trying to get the Europe maps loaded and this is the problem -

The map is unlocked and loaded in the garmin directory - I can see it through the app in the MAP SET's but I cannot activate it - it just looks like the base map when viewing Garmin

I have used the keygen and loaded FID 378, City Navigator Europe NT 2009 with the UNL code.

Any ideas please.

Hi all,

I have a Nokia 5800 with Garmin XT installed. I have an old version of maps of my country (israel v1.31) as my gmapsupp.img file. now I got a new version (israel 1.58) with many more cities. I've added it to my phone as gmapsup2.img and the relevant code file and the program recognizes teh new map and displays it. However, when I look for cities and street names, it only looks up in the old version and not in the new one. So I can only browse the map and look at the new cities, but can not directly search an address in those new cities. How do I make the program re-index the names of cities and streets from the new map?

like most peeps upgraded to a Nok 5800 from a n73 so have a lot of custom poi's i have made myself.

TT isnt on the 5800 so have to convert ovi to garmin ndrive sygic...

Is there a programme out there that does the lot..

Yes thought about using my big TT but needs to be discreet so phone only option.

whats the better of those 3 btw
works almost like ease of use to a TT as in saving locations etc

I copied Garmin folder in E:\Garmin with Pakistan map set in .images folder. When I execute View Maps in the menu no maps displayed. Did I copy the maps in wrong section? Witch Pakistan map did you use? There is mapsource version witch you can use it on PC and image version that you can transfer it directly to your device. Mapsource version won't work on your device, just transfered after you install it in mapsource.

is anyone using well garmix xt on n97? because i have it but the gps signal is tooo low...i have only 1 red line (but it show me that i am connected to 6-7 sattelites) and it doesn`t work it says: waiting for better gps signal ....
On my old phone n79 i used sygic and it`s connected in seconds...with the n97 i waited outside 15 minutes and still poor signal in both garmin xt and google maps or ovi maps...

You have the mapsource version. Install mapsource on your PC from here:

Install again Pakistan map on your PC. You will find the map in in mapsource you just install it. You select it, connect your phone to PC in non PC suite and send the map to it. Try to read more on garmin official site. In the final you must have in garmin directory just two image file, gmapbmap and gmapsupp without any other subfolder.

You have to be more careful reading...

This short tutorial will detail how to download and install Garmin MapSource on your PC if it wasn't included with your GPS unit (such as the Garmin Nuvi) or when it doesn't come with your Garmin purchased map. . MapSource (or the mac equivalent) is required to install any maps released in mapsource format.

2. Download and install Garmin MapSource

Hello again!ok-i found the problem of my previos question about latvian voice.it seems that this ([Only registered and activated users can see links]) fle is TTS file which dont work in Mobile xt version.i found some softs that opens tts files, but i dont get why this file dont opens with theese softs. 4 example with gmaptool ([Only registered and activated users can see links]). but it shows me error. :( and i see that it isnt possible to make for me latvian voice file!:( maybe someone knows where to find latvian voice file 4 mobile xt....if not thanks anyway for reading this.

how many sattelites does your garmin xt on N97 see? mine found 6-7-8 .. but this still means only one line in gps signal and cannot make a route. And i realized that in that GPS Status from Garmin all the sattelites are at N..not even one at S W or E...is it normal?

on n79 i used sygic mcguider works excellent , connected within seconds.

on n97 until now i can`t connect with any software.. :( what exactly is Asisted-GPS? is your phone had to be connected to a network to work or is standalone gps? because in Garmin i can't change the connection type from Assisted gps to Integrated Gps..

p.s. i stopped A-Gps from phone options and now garmin tryes conecting with integrated gps but still no solution....i`m gonna kill this phone :P

Faster and without A-GPS? No way. One or another, you cannot have both...

A-GPS uses gprs(internet) at first connect for registering in to satellites. Data transfered is about 5 kb. But your phone should get signal without it after 15 minutes. Maybe your GPS module is broken. You're not the first.

Later edit: if the module were broken i was able to see any satelittes? as i said garmin see 6-7-8 sattelites but still only one red line..
And other thing...i don`t know that this means something but all the sattelites are drawn at N (north) in that circle...is it normal?

app: i have v12 firmware....i`m not really sure upgrading to 20 because the feedbacks i`ve read were not the best

okay i am back with impressions.

today was a clear sky day and i take a walk with the gps on. in aproximate 15 minutes for the first time since i have the phone i had signal in garmin and in the positioning software. so it`s not faulty but is pooor. bad signal..The accuracy was changing rapidly 40 90 120 60m etc...I see a tweak on another forum with a coper wire [Only registered and activated users can see links] but i don`t like this thing od DIY. i hope there will be an signal enhancer software like i had on a WM PDA or a new firmware that fix this. for example on my other phone N79 i got signal in 2-3 minutes

Don't you think it's pity that a phone like N97 has this issue? At his price? With my N95 8GB not far away from Arad (:D) i have signal in seconds with A-GPS and maybe 2-3 without it.

Hi i have a problem with nokia 5800.. I installed garmin 5.60 did everything as you said but it wouldn't recognize the internal gps... did everything with the sw.unl file (it hasnt got any .txt format).... Did exactly same procedure on my nokia 6210 works fine and maps are great.. I do the same on 5800 once it opens even though i put the sw.unl file inside still asks that 4 option.... any ideas ?

Choose the last one (bluetooth gps), after this you will be able to access the menu, go to settings/system and choose "attached".

very big problem

my garmin application dont even start as soon as it starts it crashes please see the steps which i followed & plz tell me where did i went wrong.
FOR FRESH START

1. i formatted my phone & memory card both for fresh installation.

2.i copied all files from garmin standalone folder to my memory card these files are
a. GARMIN FOLDER(which inluded around 12 folders like apps,chache,gpx etc.)
b. PRIVATE
c. RESOURCES
d. SYS
e. GARMIN SIS FILE OF AROUND 5 MB
just after copying these files but before installing the sis file of 5mb i saw garmin application in my nokia n82 application folder where applications comes after installing but garmin application was already present there after copying of files so i tried to open it but it crashed just black screen & garmin was written there in white & it crashed so i then installed the sis file of 5 mb which i copied earlier then again i tried to open the application but it behaved in the same way & again crash

please help i am getting irritated by this people here are not able to install maps & i am stuck on 1st step only

You are not from Taiwan, but from India, why use this version? As i said many times before, v5.00.50 is the latest official update non taiwaneez. Version 5.00.60 is a mix of taiwan update and europe version and you are not the first who have problems with it. And disable backround service (witch drain your battery) doesn't work very well. Delete everything, uninstall and do all over again with this version:

If you do it right, it will work.

You connect your phone to PC and double click on file, but you also need support files, you can find them on garmin site, are free, or scroll down the page and you will find there standalone version. Here is a trick: read some posts of the thread you are interested, you learn a lot from others mistakes, not just download the files. Feedbacks from others users are very useful, that's why is a forum. Now i have to go at work, good luck.

My Garmin Mobile XT version 5.00.50s60.9 (symbian) installed maps: Scandinavia, Greece, and a few other maps has a very good function. The navigation, inc. Speedcam is 100% OK, BUT - if i use the mode only show maps ( i mean: only let the device show the map when i drive ) i can not see the instruction ( norwegian letter ) driving on examp. road 85. The system cut's off the letters after driving on 85 to only two letter - like this: Dr --- The map is okay and navigates 100% when i use it in active mode.
This fenomen is for the norwegian letters: ( the instructions above translated into norwegian Driving on 85 to --> Kjører på 85 --> Kj
Is there a file with norwegian codepage/ letters avaliable in Ipmart ? Thank's in advance

Just read instructions from the Ndrive threads.

INSTRUCTIONS:
1.- Extract the rar file.
2.- Copy NDrive folder to your SD card and the maps you desire to NDrive/maps folder.
3.- Sign NDrive_Full_Cracked_by_UNDERCODE_unsigned.sis and install it.
4.- Copy all voices files you need (at least you must have English) into NDrive/voices folder (Voices must be in zip format, don't unzip them).
5.- If you have a nokia you should install pips_nokia_1_3_SS.sis, or if you have a samsung with symbian you should install pips_samsung_1_2_SS.sis instead.
6.- When program starts, select desired Map.
7.- Select WEB option.
8.- Insert serial you want (XXXX-XXXX-XXXX).

okey, this is my problem...

i've installed Garmin to my N97 and it works fine... till one day i activated the FM Transmitter on the phone and put Garmin lady talk through my car speaker. but now when i deactivated the FM transmitter, my Garmin don't got sound anymore! the phone show the msg to activate my FM transmitter...

how to play the sound on my phone again without putting it on the transmitter?

My venerable N82 has travelled a lot and is still working quite well, but I'm considering replacing it and not sure if I should choose a N97 or N97 mini.

In my N82, I use Tomtom 6 which I like a lot despite the fact that it's outdated, but sufficent for my use (old skool guy with paper maps and GPS help is only a plus, not relying always on it)

After reading some threads, and testing some recent Nokia phones, I've discovered and understanded that the Tomtom way is now dead for me, so which solution will be best ?

All new Nokia phones I've tested don't work anymore with the BinPDA GPSD TomTom hack/solution...

So what is the good way to have a sufficently good all-in-one GPS/Photgraphic tool/Web Browser/Game console/Music player

N97 fitted with Garmin, or ???

Did you got gps signal? Or browse map and zoom in over Greece. The arrow is by default over one of garmin headquorters. Also map has to be unlocked to see it.

Mapsource function appears when you have more than one detailed map, no reason for it if you don't have what you choose from....

I have tested a few apps like the ndrive, nokia maps, etc.

But none of them do the test to speech function that reads out street names when guiding you.

Any help on this would be greatly appreciated.

when i try to open garmin,nokia maps, sygic in very open space the gps doest not shows any singal strength at all. i waited for 30 mins in open space but still no reception previously i had n79 and it works very fine in it please help me

I have Samsung I550, not the w one. I had all sorts of MOBILE XT on it and all of them worked but NOT very well. It's like they have a mind of their own. Sometimes the phone connects instantly, sometimes in a half an hour and sometimes not at all. I'm in Belgrade so that may be the cause. Its strange because the phone primary second function is GPS. Its a GPS smart phone as they market it at least.
Any one managed to get a good gps gadget out of it? THE SGH-550?
Any other gps app with good Serbia map that works nice with it?
Any help PLS?

This is my first post although I've been using this board for a long. I managed to find everything with just a search. Just like to say tank you all. Greatest board for everything about mobile. I'd have much less use from my phone without you ppl.

I don't think it matters that you are from Belgrade, i'm close to it and GPS works great, they are everywere above us...Try Sygic, maybe it works better. Do you have A-GPS? Use it, it helps a lot. But if your phone is this, it doesn't:

Hey guys,

Just a quick one for you. I got a brand new 6720 classic and I found an issue. It seems that when my Nokia Ovi Maps license expired, my GPS hardware has become inactive. I've tried everything (Navigon,TomTom, other Nokia Ovi Maps versions) and the only solution so far was to reset my phone to factory defaults, that restored my Nokia Ovi Maps license to 10 days trial and now is working again... :(

This is strange and new...Check settings/positioning/positioning methods and see if gps and a-gps are enabled.

Thanks man for the advice. Already checked and I've selected both a-gps and integrated gps (btw, without a-gps it doesn't work at all)...
It's very strange indeeds, so all of you that want 6720 for integrated gps, you better think twice... I believe Nokia have finally found a way to deactivate GPS when Nokia Ovi Maps licence has expired.

I have tried numerous times to load different voices onto it by downloading a voice and pasting it in the Voices directory on my memory card, but when you try to pick the voice in the list, it doesn't show up.

Can anyone help me with that?

G' morning all....I wanted to ask you something….I loaded the file autodrive hellas 1.9 (greek)… I made all the processes and I ran the program… after that it says:
''You have install a locked map etc etc, Options: 1. buy it, 2. install the key''. Under of those 2 options, it has the buttons in order to select one of them. Also, it has another one (3rd) with an arrow and the letter S after the arrow ( -->S ). So im force to press this option with the -->S. After that im getting into the programm and NO map (Auto Drive Hellas) is load.

I must say also that, before all these above when im running the programm, a message is coming out saying : "Is not p" and it has under this a button with the word ''ok'', which i have to press it, in order to be transfer in the next page and to see all the above i reported in the first paragraph.

The message : "Is not p" im thinking that it is cuted of something like: "Is not pOSSIBLE etc"…

did anyone faced such a problem? (The files GMAPSUPP.img and GMAPSUPP.unl, have been installed with the known process)

You did something wrong. Almost all the time we do a very small mistake that we couldn't see, that's why didn't work. The easiest way is to just copy unlocked image, no need for unl file. Use one of this two:
Auto Drive Hellas v1.90 (Latin) IMG Unlocked

Or this:
Auto Drive Hellas v1.90 (Greek) IMG Unlocked
[Only registered and activated users can see links]
It must work, without any strange message from app.

ioji this is weird : the "mistake" i did is that going into the folders of the program (which i didnt at the beggining bc i saw all this mess and i was thinking that the map didnt load), the map is LOAD....i mean i saw in the "map files" another file except the main map...that means that the map is load....BUT still in the beggining is doing what i mentioned in the above msg...anyway right now im writing this msg, im downloading the link u gave me.... ;)...thank u anyway...

I formatted my N96 and now, when I have garmin 5.00.50 re installed, I cannot search for any street at all ("No result found" message) with ANY of the recent maps provided in ipmart (anavasis 4.12, 4.13, 3in1, 4in1, greek, latin... whatever). I can see the maps, the street names etc but I cannot use them as destinations for navigating.

Please help!!

Before clicking on the address button, press "near" key (bottom left) than choose "near other" and just after this proceed with address.
See if this way it works.
Be aware: Pre-Unlocked maps where modified and altered, sometimes the search doesn't work well, always better to use a locked map, of course unlocked with keygen.

You have the luck to live in a country where Navteq has its headquorter. Maps and coverage are very important, as you know, Navteq makes maps for Garmin and Ovi. If i have to choose between Garmin and Ovi for N97 i choose Ovi. But not the free Ovi, the "full" Ovi. Anyway, my preferred is Sygic. I don't live in States.

Update 1/18: Garmin officially announced BirdsEye today. Availability is March 2010.

Details are still a bit sketchy but it looks like Garmin is finally releasing an all-you-can-eat satellite imagery subscription called BirdsEye for their outdoor handhelds that support Garmin Custom Maps. For $30 a year Oregon, Colorado and Dakota users who install a yet to be released version 3.0.0 of BaseCamp will be able to download all the “sub-meter” satellite imagery they want and then transfer those maps to their device. Let network to, disabled just bluetooth. Make sure you have network access to internet, if not, A-GPS won't work.

No. But if you want to get signal in seconds, you need GPRS. Transfer data is about 5 KB at one log. Also, there are phones that just simply don't get GPS signal without A-GPS enabled.

ioji tanx for answer for sattelites and a-gps in different thread for garmin xt,i am now have another problem,i have version 5.60 and installed scg route from mapsource,for several weeks i been looking for new york map and i founded by some user from ip mart has posted,this map he says its unlocked but is like img file,he says thar this img file i must renames to name gmapsup2.img and copy it to garmin folder to memory card,buts nothing happens i still have scg route installled and theres no trace of new york map,could you tell me in 3-4 steps how to make it happen and i want to have scg route and new york map?

But be aware, mapsource send maps to your device named by default "gmapsupp" If you already have a map there, it will be replaced. You can send scg route from mapsource to your device and after copy new york map (image) in the same place after you renamed.

Try to tools/manage my data/maps/map sets/mapsource and see if both are checked.

ioji,im moron i rename image file gmapsup2 to gmapsup2.img but that file is already img so garmin didnt recognize with extension .img cccc

E/garmin and simply delete img files, but without "gmapbmap" witch is the base map.
Also when you send a new map with mapsource, it will just simply replace the one named "gmapsupp"

Hi, I have E72 with garmin mobile xt 5.00.60 TW installed, the software can run but after a while, the map will hang. the voice navigator is still running ok but the map freeze, I have tried to reinstalled the 5.00.60 but I still face the same problem. I want to return to the version 5.00.50, try to install from PC directly to the SD card, but now I can not open the garmin application on my Hp. please help.

i am using nokia ovi maps 3.01 and i want to format my phone(e66) . how do i backup all my places?? whenever i sync with ovi.com , i do get synchronized easily but after that when i delete a place from my phone, i cannot get it back evn after again sync it with ovi.com. please help guys..

Copy all folder e/cities to your PC. I think about everything NokiaMaps related is there. After formating, copy back. Didn't try it though.

No man. Just one sw.unl file. but two other unl file, both with the same name as img files:
gmapsupp.img + gmapsupp.unl
gmapsup2.img + gmapsup2.unl

While browsing a topo map garmin freezes and crashes on my mobile samsung i8910! Maybe the Europe map too big, I need to get some single maps together, probably using mapsource is the best way to put them on my device. I unfortunatly failed till now to get it right using mapsource.

Is there a possibility to change the menu language? Putting german or french for example?

Oh damn, I installed it in /Garmin!!
I guess I just need to delete the file that were copied there, right? And then reinstall on Garmin/poi

I want to change the menu language in Garmin XT. Concerning the voices I guess I only need to download them, and copy them in the folder Voice, right?

If the license expired it is normal not to work anymore, even you check all positioning methods. Unfortunately your phone isn't in compatibility list for the free Nokia Maps. You may consider to use one of the cracked versions or to use another navigation system.

From your replay i assume you have v50.00.60. Just read this:
[Only registered and activated users can see links]
And install v5.00.50. You will have all the language you want and plus less lagging...

I found now one file I downloaded, its called: "GarminMobileXTforSymbianS603rdEdition_50050.exe", it has the following folders and files in it. (see pic)

Should I know just uninstall the Garmin TX *sis App on my mobile, and reinstall the other one, or how do I proceed exactly? The maps and their unlocking files will stay the same, I guess right?

My advice is to do a clean install. You can keep the maps and unl files. But you will need support files too. You can find everything here:

There have been warnings on other forums about considering very carefully before you install the new version, as apparently the Jetmouse Keygen will no longer work for unlocking maps:ilove:]

Let me first mention I haven't received any solution regarding the 2 following probs.
2 great softwares that work like candy on my n73 are proving useless on n97, s60v5

1-Coreplayer. After signing and installing and all that , the prog isn't able to play any clip whatsoever. Just you may get some audio.

2-Media safe , another great SW is installed perfectly but when attempting to IMPORT video and pictures into the safe, the relevant folders appear empty,however, the audio and notes folders work well .
I would be grateful for any help.
