Works on my htc s710 with Garmin XT! Cool, they even added the new marketplace behind my house! It`s the most detailed map... beats iGo and everything else I used. One downside though, it is really slow to browse the map! Do you have the same problem? I tried the map also on my 400mhz mio and it`s still a lot slower to calculate routes or move through map. On my 200mhz htc... it takes forever to browse for a route. :(

Settings/general/positioning/positioning methods/ check Assisted GPS. It will use the internet to register to satellites but only 4-5 kb. You should have signal in 10 seconds. But make sure you have access to internet.

It takes satellites through A-GPS(internet) and after that if you aren't outside it looses the signal. You have to be outside, on balcony perhaps and without other buildings close to yours. It depend of lot of things.

I just loaded the map and now I feel like there is way to much data on the map...the software works hard do draw the map due to excessive detailing. It's either nothing or too much...typically romanian...but I prefer more than less in a good way.
I hope Garmin will update the map to 2010 version soon, like Europe and USA.

In my navigation experience I used iGo for optimal routing and GarminXT on Nokia E71, with road2008, just for the fun of it (the "fun" of the topographical map on a navigation device).
But I must admit that with road2009 the cursor (aka gps position) on XT doesnt stay behind (position lag) as I get used to. Now I really can use it as a navigation help. Just help because, in the city, with many secondary streets and multiple change of routes the phone doesnt have the power to recalculate quick enough the rerouting.
Regarding the Garmin software.. I still get pissed when I hear the romanian female voice. Just rude, I tell you.. just rude. :p

On pdiromania you'll find for Garmin Speedcams and POIs.
POIs are an addition to existing POIs imbeded in the map.
To install both Speedcams and POIs on device, one must edit all in a single .csv file (e.g. open prox_poi.csv file (one with speedcams) and the .csv files with POIs you want to send to device, than Copy/Paste all POIs into prox_poi.csv file. You can add as many as needed.
Save the file than use POI loaded to send to device.

Dude, IT'S NORMAL
The interface (the software) it is in ENGLISH. In English first name you have to type is DIMITRIE, the given name but because the map it is in ROMANIAN the names are backward.
Given the above mentioned details when you search for a name on a Romanian map you have to type first the family name and than the given (botez) name.
Hope that was clear enough for you...don't make me translate to Romanian :partyman:

The links are not working
I really don't know what problem you facing, the link works just fine. If you have a slow internet connection, wait a little bit to see the download buttons.

It's unlocked image, ready to be transferred to your device, in garmin directory. Doesn't matter if you have or not an older version.

i downloaded the img file, but i have a question:
Title says Road 2009, but captions and my garmin nuvi 250 see it Road 2008, so which one is right?
Also automatic naming from mapsource is a bit puzzling ... Giurgiu 3, Giurgiu 4.
Thanks for sharing

It's Road 2008 (3.01) with an update in 2009 (3.02). That's why it shows on your device 2008. In mapsource it just show the sections of the map you selected, that's the way it is. But it is the last map for Garmin/Romania and also the best.

Yap, is the most complete map for Romania. The maps found in sygic unfortunately aren't that good for RO, the the interface is so much better then Garmin can provide.

I have sygic 7.6 with a map for 27,79MB, map version is 7.54. Is there a better one?
Garmin has included a lot of aditional topographic features and that's why the map is huge: more then 400MB

Same version of sygic here, so I guess we have the same map. In garmin often I can specify the street's numbers , sygic seldom knows them, just the intersections.
