Man they should just sell maps to sygic, ndrive, etc. the symbian garmin app is slow/ugly (not vector?).

And the slow updates (low amount of fixes/improvements)...it's too bad, again garmin maps are great.

Well it failed when i chose what to add in so i had to extract to the 32gig drive an let it overwrite me old 5.00.50 garmin but it seems ok .
remember to add /remove ( Garmin xt 5.00.50 ) from ya phone first ! ( back it up to hard drive on your pc ) then after extracted... it will look chinese... but scroll until ya get
english version... then bobs ya uncle...i have noticed...

1. no more "Tear " on widescreen mode....

2. New " My photos " option under the trip computer
I love this function... if you have a N97 then any photos ( 150 Taken so far) that ya taken with the gps function on !
You can now drive straight to it.. ( yes i know nokia maps has it.. but its brill to see it on me Garmin XT )

3. Custom P.O.I still work

4. Speedcams still working

I found what was wrong. In order to update I had to erase the file C:\Private\10202dce\preinstalledAppcache. And it's OK now.
So, uninstall v5.00.50, erase this file and install v5.00.60

[EDIT] If I copy the standalone pack files, Garmin can't open. I simply use the .sis file, nothing more, and it works just fine.Perhaps there's something wrong in the App folder but I don't know what...

Uninstall older version then do clean install of original version- file ends with TW.exe. Start garmin, choose english for voice and text, and imperial or metric after this it will take you to garmin main screen. After this you can close garmin and than copy more voice file to garmin folder.

Yep! If I use only the .sis file, french menu don't show "Photos" and it seems it don't use the 5.00.60 fonctionnalitys.
When I perform the install with your standalone pack, it don't work.
When I perform the install with the .exe it works only with English, no way to show French Text but French audio works. What is the text file? When I tried to put my old files (and yours from the 2nd post for sure), the app didn't recognize it. And what an horrible font!!!

I had similar problem when I directly upgraded, but when I uninstalled, deleted Garmin files in memory card. The copied stand alone version files to card, installed, it finally worked. I got multilanguage working copying my languaga files from the pack.

i have deleted this in my file. this file comes with taiwanesse and is responsible for abnormal other languages fonts.

You deleted it in ur file, but when copy ur files on the device, the gmsup.ini is still left.
So gmsup.ini and gmsup must be deleted

had the same problem here (with nokia e66) and by deleting the file you say ,the application opened... lets see now to follow the rest of the instructions

i dont have this file and i used the method i posted. i copied the garmin folder and then installed the sis. i have only the gmobile.ini which has nothing to do with this. you installed something else first and not my file (second post).

I have installed tha same version from second post ,and there was a file ''gmsup.ini'' , so i deleted. Now its working.Thank you anyway:good2:

Yes instal the standalone version.

How to check Garmin works on your N97



If you have copied your back up copy from your hard drive to the 32gig drive on your N97 then all will be fine !

If however you copied Garmin onto a spare 8 gig memory card you will find that your P.O.I. ( points of interest ),

and your speedcams will no longer show up on your contents screen !

to check everything is ok...

1. Boot up garmin then Tools >> Settings >> About

2. Click on " Content " then scroll down to see "Cyclops UK Data " if you can see the date of the file its working ok.

3. To check if your personal P.O.I. are working click " Where to " >> extras >>custom pois if seen then thats working..

4. So if ya added ya garmin folder to ya 32 gig drive on your N97 it will work ..

5. If however ya added it to ya 8 gig card... then in the root folder on your 32 gig drive make a new " Garmin" folder.

6. In this new folder copy over your Poi folder ( leave an empty poi folder on ya card )

7. Now restart your garmin and it will detect everything.... after i have done this i might copy over " Travel guide"

see all i did is what i always do....go to add an remove on ya phone.. to remove it... then delete tha sis file... then use the upgrade to do its stuff... then look for the new sis file ... click it ... an bobs ya uncle its installed clean an up an running..
ps i am liking the geotag function loads...it also seems a lickle quicker...

How to install Garmin v5.00.60 (all files are uploaded separately) :



1) Download this pack ([Only registered and activated users can see links]) (8 MB approx.) and overwrite the content into your memory card:


2) Go to Memory Card/Garmin/Apps and delete gmsup.ini.


3) Download the updated SIS file here ([Only registered and activated users can see links]) (5 MB approx.)


4) Now you have to download the "Base Map" from Garmin website, put it into garmin folder, then choose your desired map and use the keygen to register Garmin and its maps. that's it!


If you have already installed Garmin prior version, you just do NOT need to do step 4.

I have this option on my Garmin. I though it was available for the previous version. It shows all my gallery photos. I don't care about geotagging and don't use it. You can assign a GPS position for each photo and ask for going to it, ask for the weather (not tested). or sending location (not tested).

When I upgraded Garmin with the Garmin.sis only, I can use Garmin with French language but no "Photo" option in "Tools". When I upgraded with the Garmin update.exe, I could use this option, but no more French lang, only English and two chinese langs for the text, but french voice works.

I like this 5.00.60 even in English lang. It seems it's running faster now.

still have not made compitable nokia n97 because back button not functioning normally, can not be pressed again.plz upload garmin for nokia n97.......................

apparently they've included a chinese.ttf font file that is required to run garmin..it's strange though that the previous version didn't require that..i tried removing the font and garmin just shows up the splash screen and then exits..so i had to re-instate the file back..

p.s you can replace the font with whatever font u want, but u gotta rename it to chinese.ttf

I hit "go to" , "city" and I spell the city name...the program start searching, it writes "searhing" then "searching 50km" then "searching 100Km" and then " NONE FOUND". And the same story with more locations far more than 100-150 km...
Do anybody know wich could be the problem?

Well, you don't know hot to work with Garmin. By default, he do this. Ehen you search, you have at the bottom left a button saying - in your language - "aproape altele" select this and Garmin will search more than 150 Km. You're welcome.

Installed and works fine! But like many others, even I have not got the "My Photos" Option in tools? I installed the "Standalone Version with EN (British and US) and GR language only" from Diversity's post (from zShare).

Erase C:\Private\10202dce\preinstalledAppcache.dat (perhaps no needed but if I remember I had to do that!)
Install Garmin v5.00.60.exe
I did like that and it works fine. I don't write you have to do the same, I just share my way to install this ver.

Go to settings/general/positioning/positioning methods and check :
Assisted GPS
Integrated GPS
Network based
You must have access to internet for A-GPS to work and you will get gps signal in seconds. And remember, at N95 gps antenna is under the keyboard, so, use it with slider open, the keyboard must "see the sky".

what do you mean by have access to internet for A-GPS? i thought with this garmin, i dont have to access to internet?? im having trouble getting the signal. i waited for 15min, it didnt get any signal

If you dont turn on A-GPS you wont need internet, but A-GPS needs internet for just a second to power up the signal :)

Well, you don't know hot to work with Garmin. By default, he do this. Ehen you search, you have at the bottom left a button saying - in your language - "aproape altele" select this and Garmin will search more than 150 Km. You're welcome.

Thank you for your response. I have the Garmin in English (hate any soft in other language than english). So in search, I didn't found "near others". At the buttom I have just BACK and SPELL, and 2 navigating arrows. And In the top of the page it writes NEAR CURENT LOCATION

You just got your answer, there isn't another....turn on A-GPS and navigate with slider open. A-GPS uses the internet just at the beginning to register to satellites faster, about 4-5 KB. This is the only way. Follow the advice or let it go....

Pretty good product...better than NDrive or Sygic, less customizable (navigation bar), more accurate in routing and finding addresses (in USA) maybe because the source of the maps is NAVTEQ, almost as good as TomTom as menus and not very stable in MAP BROWSING mode...freezing in less than a minute of zooming and moving the map...every time.
I hope the next version will solve the MAP BROWSING problem.
I also loaded as POI a huge collection (89472 USA points, free of charge) of speed cameras, red light cameras, combo (speed & red) cameras and places where the police is frequently hiding and it's pretty accurate.
I hope a better version will come out soon.

Yes ioji, they are for Garmin. I also have CN North America 2010.20 Map for Garmin (1.24Gb, include USA with Alaska, Hawaii, Puerto Rico, Virgin Islands also Mexico and Canada) and CN Europe 2010.10 (1.67Gb).The funny part is that this maps works on Garmin Mobile XT (on my Nokia 5800XM) as well as the very old Garmin nuvi 250 (and maybe many other models, so far tested only on this two).
To activate this maps is piece of cake...all you need is the Garmin Unlock Generator 1.5 and the IMEI Converter (IMEI Conv is only for cell phones, to convert you phone IMEI in UnitID required by Unlock Generator 1.5).
I will do my best to post and upload this info as soon as possible.

I'm having problems installing garmin on my N85 : I downloaded the standalone version 5.00.60 , copied all all the files to the root of my memory card , ran the .sis file and it seems correctly installed.
the thing is that when i try to run garmin it seems to crash at the startup.
Do you have any idea on how to check what's wrong ?

Yo, ma man, it's ONLY for US...but, as I said in the post, TRAPSTER.com might have camera POI for UK and EU...just check.
Actually there is a map on the website where u can see all the traps and cameras and that include the entire Europe. That make me think that u might be able to get Camera POI's for UK and EU...my guess.
When I was looking for camera POIs I found a bunch of them on torrent sites. I think many comes from PocketGPS but there are many other sources.
From my experience it's easier to find camera POIs for EU than US...for free.

you'll have to go somewhere in settings or maps and choose the map you want to use. Just keep looking and you'll find it. If you have problems I have a look for you.

I have a Samsung Jack i637 and I'm trying to get Garmin xt 5.00.20ws to run. I cannot connect to my gps reciever. I have tried device id, card id, imei, and imsi numbers to generate a key for sw.unl using JM 1.5 with no luck. I've ran GPSTest.exe and set to standalone. Still no luck. I have yet to find a clear cut answer as to which number I should use to generate the code; is it device, card, imei, or imsi? Any advice as to what I'm doing wrong?

No, it's not cracked, it's unlocked with unlocking code. So, you can. I did it many time to see the weather and it's working just fine.

There are services for witch you have to pay a monthly subscription, they check that and if you haven't pay, it's normal to cut you off...:roflmao:

Try changing back the date in your phone settings. If steel doesn't work, i'm afraid you will have to update your software via NSU.

Sorry guys, can I import my POIs from my Garmin Nuvi 300 to Garmin Mobile XT on my Nokia N97?

The format could be .csv, or .poi, or .gpx.

my 5800 always hang for 3-5 min, and garmin closes automatically when zooming maps (philippine map) !!! always,,, as in aaaalways.. and i uninstalled it coz it is unusable already.. i have tried all the versions of Garmin and i end up with the same problem. I dont know, but i guess the problem lies on the map itself... or is it a software (garmin) problem? any solution to this?

With the older version of Garmin, i think it was v5.00.30, i had it freeze up on me and crash all the time when i was browsing the map and zooming in. It says "drawing" and then it freezes.
This doesn't happen with 5.00.40 or above for me. But sometimes it's a bit slow when it says drawing.

I don't know if your problem is the map or not.

I step back to 5.00.50 because the new Version because the Background Service will not be disabled correctly on 5.00.60. My Phone is the Samsung i8910 :oom:

Still this version it`s not official. Very strange. Usually the thailand version you would found after a week and a half on the official website. Now it`s been more than a month and nothing on the garmin.com website.

Sounds like you haven't registered it. You need to use the Kgen using the card id in the About section of the software. You just select Use Garmin GPS so you can bypass and go to the About section.

The 400 MB free are nothing to do with RAM, but steel, it's not normal. I advice you to uninstal it, delete everything related and instal again but v5.00.50. This is the latest official update beside the one for Asia. By the way, maybe Garmin will stop support for XT, usually the asian update was followed soon by europe but now, nothing. Strange...

I really don't know, but this version is fully compatible with your phone and should work ok, i installed on several 5800 and never had one single problem. Maybe map you use is the fault one?

No, it cannot, just for services you must pay a monthly subscription. Weather works fine. Traffic don't work in my country, so, i didn't try it. You can try it, nothing wrong can happen.

it works fine on n97, i installed it yesterday and used it today to test. you need to install the full 50+mb version then use this update, i had to do that to get the app working. search for a older version, i used version 4 full. hope it helps

Use v.5.00.50, it is the latest official version for europe and USA. You will have all you need in it.

In my Nokia E71 working perfect. Tested more then 1000 miles. One important feature is bothering. With bluetooth activated automatic connection with my car sound sistem is taking place within 1-3 minuts. After that guiding voice is dissapearing from device. Does anybody know if it is normal for this navcore or it can be adjusted to work together voice guidance in smartphone and handsfree via car audio?:confused:

u need to delete a file... go read e installation guide....

It seems that you know quite a bit about Garmnin so i was wonering if you could help me. I have installed most versions of Garmin to my mobile phones (N95,N96,N97) and up untill n97 i had no issues with it. But with n97 i find that when browsing the map, both versions -5.0050.and 5.00.60 - freezes the phone and stops working. If I use the navigation it works fine but if i want to browse the map it always freezes! Do you know if this is a known issue with the v5 or is it just with my phone. I have used both autodrive 1.80en alone and 3in1 autodrive en (in separate occasions of course).
Also, this extra multi files, what are they? Are they necessary for e.g Greece

Thats the problem with garmin on n95-8gb and n97 its a bit laggy. Other sat nav apps are much smoother (more frames per sec) but this is the best one for navigating

I have E55 and can't zoom. Has anyone succeeded zooming with E55 or E52

E55 and E52 have new keyboard mapping. Either Nokia has to update their firmware, or Garmin need to update their software.

ya, me too same with you.Even through i copy all the folder to my root mmc and run garmin sis install after finish i launch the garmin in application.It load a while than closed again.Had restart phone are same too.

Hello to everyone. I have an E66 and an E52 nokia devices and I've noticed that in E52 the 4.00.20 and 5.00.40 garmin versions are not working properly. I've tried with different maps, reinstall, and soft and hard format but the problem is still there: When functions, the application stucks showing a still picture of the map while the voice is still working properly!! This problem doesn't occures on E66. I have asked in some greek forums about the problem and I was suprised when I found other people too, facing the same problem.
Is there someone who knows if this problem is solved in the new garmin version or how to solve it in the older versions?

This is exactly what happens to my Satio as well. Followed the instructions EXACTLY (fresh install - standalone version) and still it wont run. When I launch Garmin, it will display the logo then just go back to the main screen.

However, Garmin 5.00.50 works fine.

After installation delete the gmsup.ini file inside Garmin\Apps folder...

New to all this but am glad to learn.

I have seen numerous postings on how to install the GMXT into the Satio. Have spent a good part of today doing just that. I have managed to hack into the phone and have installed a Garmin folder into the E:.

There are 2 problems I'm facing:

1. it can't find my GPS and I have created and kept the sw.unl in the Garmin directory.
2. I can't seem to 'unlock' the program - I'm supposed to have an 8 character code which I can't seem to find.

BTW, I'm on version 5.00.50s60.9 - wondering whether the version is too new and hence, these problems.

I've not even be able to upload my maps yet....

You get the Card ID or ESN in the About section under settings in the Garmin software. You use that in the Kgen to produce the unlock code.

Thanks. I did get that far and the ABOUT section got me three numbers:

1. IMEI
2. IMSI
3. Card ID

Based on the Card ID, the KGen gave me 25 characters instead of the 8 that the program asked for.

Plus I can't get the program to find the GPS component in the phone.

It's the Card ID that you need.

How did you get this far? What instructions did you follow? Cause you're not doing the right thing, i don't know what instructions you're following, but you don't enter in the 8 character pin that Garmin asks you for.

See instructions below, you're up to step 6:-

Instructions:
1. Add all the Garmin files that are in the folders provided, into their appropriate folders on the root directory of the memory card. Don’t add the whole folders themselves, cause these folders are already existing on the memory card, and you will be asked if you would like to replace the folders that are already there.
2. Add the Garmin sis file also, to the root directory of the memory card.
3. Disconnect the phone or memory card from computer.
4. Go to file manager, memory card, then select the Garmin sis file you put there. Follow the prompts to install it. It may say that Garmin already exists do you want to overwrite, just ignore and install.
5. Launch Garmin, and it will come up with a purchasing window. Select free trial.
6. If Free trial doesn’t work, then select “use garmin gps unit”, which is the last option on the list.
7. Click on Tools>Settings>About. Take note of your Card ID (or ESN).
8. Launch Garmin keygen. Type in your Card ID in the Unit ID box, make sure product is selected as Garmin Mobile XT, then click generate.
9. Copy the produced unlock code to a new notepad document, and save.
10. In Windows click on Tools>Folder Options> View, then un-check “Hide extensions for known file types”.
11. Rename the notepad document containing your unlock code, including the extension so it is no longer .txt. Rename it to sw.unl
12. Put this file in the Garmin folder on your memory card, then launch Garmin. Now Garmin will recognise your built in gps. Go to Tools>Settings>System, and click on Remote GPS, or it may say Bluetooth GPS. Change it from Bluetooth GPS to built in gps.

Installing Maps
1. Rename your country specific map to one of the following (if it is not already named one of these): gmapprom.img, gmapsupp.img, or gmapsup2.img.
2. Copy this file to your Garmin folder on your memory card.
3. Run GMapTool , click add file, select your map, then select details. Take note of the FID number, it will be evident in the details, look down the bottom it will mention the maps name and it’s FID.
4. Open Garmin keygen, enter your “Card ID”/ESN/”Unit ID” into the keygen (unless you still have the keygen open from the first process).
5. Go to Select Map Product, select custom mapset, then type in you maps FID (MapID). Click generate.
6. Copy the map unlock code to a new notepad doc, and save.
7. In Windows click on Tools>Folder Options> View, then un-check “Hide extensions for known file types”, this is not require if it is still unchecked.
8. Rename the map unlock code notepad doc to “name of your map”.unl, eg: gmapprom.unl, gmapsupp.unl, or gmapsup2.unl (whatever name you assigned to your map earlier).
9. Copy this file to the Garmin folder on your memory card.
10. Launch Garmin. Garmin and map are now unlocked.

To disable tsautostart.exe (for version 5.00.30 and newer):
1. Launch Garmin, go to Tools>Settings>System. Change “Launch background service” to enabled.
2. Exit menu and close Garmin.
3. Launch Garmin, then disable the same setting.
4. Now tsautostart.exe process will close every time you close Garmin, eliminating this problem that consumes extra battery life.

Man, you didn't read enough about Garmin. That's the keygen, there isn't two keygens for two separate things. Just use it, what are you afraid of, it takes less time than just keep asking...

Thanks for the help. Unfortunately, I have done everything to step 11 (in your first section) but to no avail. Everything loads up fine but it can't seem to find the GPS unit. I have used keygen 1.1 and 1.5 and tried generating a few different codes even and that hasn't worked.

It works just fine, was downloaded 178 times, just checked. Maybe you have to try again.

You need GmapTool to get your maps individual FID to enter in the Kgen, IF your map product is not in the list of maps in the drop down box. There's only a dozen different pre-set map products in the Kgen i'm using, so most will have to use the GmapTool to get the FID i think.

Thanks guys! Almost there, keygen works fine, and i have put in the sw.unl, the gmapsupp.img and gmapsupp.swl

however, when i try to enable my inbuilt gps via settings, system, it says no gps devices are found. any idea why? using e72 so im pretty sure there is a gps.

Yes the Nokia E72 has GPS built in. I don't know what the problem is, might be phone specific, not working properly with E72's internal GPS. Maybe if you can find other E72 users who have successfully install it.

V5.00.60 works too, but as i said, v5.00.50 is the latest official version for Europe and America, and it seems that it will be the last one for XT....sad news if it is real, so, stick with it, no need to upgrade, nothing new or better. I use v5.00.50, so....

When you search far more than 250 km, it appears a key(function) "near others" (i think in english version)bottom left, use it to get the results you need.

yeah, I did that too. If you use standalone, application will close after 3 secs, use the original version if your device is Nokia 5800 XM.

have you named the maps correctly? the maps and unlock file must be the same. for example maps name is gmapsupp.img, unlock file name must be gmapsupp.unl , if the maps name is gmapprom.img ==> gmapprom.unl ... ect. sorry for my bad language.
