View Full Version : All sound lost when installing 7.915 or 7.916 from cab files.

Having a little problem with the 7.915 and 7.916 cab's, when I install them on my Ipaq 6915 (both work great on my HTC Diamond) they turn off all the sound functions on the phone and I can't get them back even after uninstalling the TT software so have to reset the phone back to factory settings.

I have an older copy of 7.910 that is just a bunch of files in a folder that i can dump on the storage card and just run using the .exe file in there, the only issue with that is that it won't accept the newer V8 maps.

So does anyone have or know how i can make an updated version of this folder so i can run 7.916 from just the .exe rather than installing from a cab file.

Many thanks.

@theredguy

Reason is that some Cab installers overwride the file Phone.dll with a size of 0 bytes.

Credit goes to evilc for discovering this:
100% confirmed. Any instance you see of phone.dll in an archive you get from this site (Or any other) should be deleted BEFORE you patch your tomtom install with it, else you will screw your windows install. Phone.Dll is a windows file, not a tomtom one, you do not want to overwrite it. Unless you can replace it, you may have to hard reset!

1 - Reset your phone
2 - Make a copy of Phone.dll
3 - Install TomTom
4 - Place back your Phone.dll

Let me know if it fixes your problem

Hi

Thanks for the reply, however no matter what i tried I could not move, delete or rename the .dll files on the phone.

No matter as I found an old cd with a backup of the folder containing a non install version of 7.910 and just replaced the TT exe and data check file then wouldn't you know it all is well.

I shall upload the folder shortly for anyone else who doesn't want to install using a cab file.
