hey all,

my router is driving me crazy, i have a netgear dg834n v1. its been working fine until recently ... im having a problem where all my computers can connect to the router through wireless but non of the, can access the internet !! whats more weird is that when this happens trying to access the internet through Ethernet doesnt work too !! all the lights on the router indicate that it has internet connection, also when u log into the router settings page, that also indicates that it is connected to the internet. i have found a solution for this and that is to reboot the router, but having to reboot the router everyday is stupid. n e one have an idea what might be going wrong !!

If you are losing full access to the internet, the most likely is a synchronisation problem.
This can be noise on line, home surges ( installed any new electrical devices recently? ).
Watch the lights and see if the Line indicator is steady ( sync ) or flickers ( loss ).

Unlikely that your Router has reconfigured itself to 'drop' its connection after a period of time but maybe worth looking at the Setup.
Netgear have a Web interface, usually at 192.168.0.1 but refer to your manual.

If you are on BT line or sub-let provider, get them to run a Line Check for you.

Swap/Replace your DSL filter.

Does it lose connection around the time of incoming calls ( if on a Home line ).

thanks for the advice .. i just lost connection again ... when looking at the router the sync light was normal (solid green). when goin on the router setup page i checked the status of my router this is what it showed

ADSL Firmware Version A2pB023b.d20e
Modem Status Connected
DownStream Connection Speed 12560 kbps
UpStream Connection Speed 1325 kbps
VPI 0
VCI 101

so i guess there was a valid connection to the internet, but i couldnt access the internet either thriugh wireless or ethernet !! iv just places new filters around the house, see if that works. by the way connection drops randomly not when theres incoming call.

n e ideas what might be happening ??
