This is a reference implementation of HTTP Internet Radio streaming (Shoutcast) for 3rd Edition devices. It is intended primarily as a learning tool for the S60 developer community. We also hope to stimulate the creation of innovative S60 audio applications.

The S60 Internet Radio reference application is a fully working example of an audio application developed for the S60 platform. The application supports SHOUTcast streaming audio playback. Currently, MP3 and AAC+ streams are supported.

The application also supports local playback of audio files in the following formats: MP3, AAC, eAAC+, MP4, M4A, WMA, 3GPP, AMR, and WAV. Note that some formats may not be supported on some S60 products. This is dependent on the codecs that are available on specific phone models, and is not a limitation of the reference application.

NOTE: NO HIT AND RUN :). Guys don't just download. To help other members please make sure to post atleast one comment detailing your phone model and working/not working status of the application. Thanks.

How is this different that the already launched (some time ago, I might add) Nokia Internet Radio?

Hi,
As is stated in first post, this is just a reference application, but it is fully working, but without the bells and whistles and components that would otherwise drain the battery life, something N95 users will like ...lol but will also be of use in older phones, that did not have the hardware capability to run later versions of such applications like Nokia Internet Radio, also unlike later versions of Nokia Internet Radio, this will play files locally (MP3, AAC, eAAC+, MP4, M4A, WMA, 3GPP, AMR, and WAV).

It comes with very few preset stations, but one can edit shoutcast.pls in E: or C: /Shoutcast folder, whichever you chose to install too, another thing that one could not do with Nokia Internet Radio, as it installs to C: only, so can save space if one wished.

Hope this helps/explains.

It doesn't play aac streams on E71. Only mp3. This is a known fact about Nokia E71
