Set in a dystopian future in the year 2636, the Red Falcon alien invaders that were defeated during the previous installments, have decided to launch a full-scale war against mankind on Earth, starting the "Alien Wars". As in previous Contra games, the player takes control of an armed, badass commando (Bill Rizer or Lance Bean), who must destroy the Red Falcon forces that have already established its presence on Earth.
