View Full Version : WAY TO FORMAT YOUR 6600 HERE!!!!

First of all make a buck up, at least contacts.

Some problems for which you need to format:
1. Blank screen phone unable to reboot.
2. Phone only able to boot-up to "Nokia" word screen.
3. Install some program but not able to uninstall it after that.
4. Unable to delete unwanted files on C drive.

Do a Full phone formatting on your 6600! as steps below,

1. Make sure you have at least 3/4 charge of battery power left.

2. Backup your contacts list and personal files to MMC memory card.

3. Switch-off your 6600 phone.

4. Press and hold 3 keys; Green dial key, * Star key, no. 3 key on
keypad and then press the power on/off to swtich on the 6600 phone.

Remember, do not let go the 3 press and hold keys until you see a
formatting word screen show!

5. After a few minutes when the Full phone formatting completed, your
6600 will back to original system and factory settting.

Bye and enjoy!

And also the old commands work...

Normal reset *#7780# 3rd party apps remains

Deep Reset *#7370# removes everything

how can i formatted 9210/9210i?

BR

just use your finger no need use SW

9210/9210i here is the formula:

Remove the sim, memory card, battery.
so it means, the phone is off.
now, put the battery back.
wait for the start up image to come out ( nokia hands )
then press buttons: control, shift, F then wait until finish....

One more, when formatting, is it makes any difference with the existence of the MMC?

dude, check it again. if the date and the clock setting is reseted, it means your formatting is correct. because after the phone format the content of C drive. it restore the genuine files from the factory that are stored in Z drive (only can be viewed by certain file manager such as seleq and fileman).

i'm pretty sure that *#7370# works very fine on my 6600 and my N-Gage

the problem with you is when you format the phone, all the contacts data is gone, but not at the outlook. so, when you tried to synchronize it, the outlook things that you delete all the content and the outlook begin to ask you wether you want to delete the outlook content also or fill the 6600 content.

my suggestion is after you format your phone, make a new sync profile. works fine with me. i've already done 5 times formatting my phone and i never had a problem with synchronizing my contact numbers with outlook

elo t,

do you knw how to format 7610? coz i can't find some files in my phone memory that i want to delete. and do you have a program that can make your op logo go blank? thank you :)

j z,
have you tried using the code? (*#7370#) ? because i think 7610is using Symbian 7.0 OS to. so i guess the code works. About the program for the operator logo and such things. you can use the seleQ (you can find it in this forum) and install it to the phone. after that, send a picture -with a blank or white picture- to the phone.

By using the SeleQ go to the blank picture and set is as operator logo (by using seleQ) after this is done, you will have to restart the phone. after that... there is your blank operator logo. if your theme has a black background, you can change the white picture with the black picture, and so on.

hope this works on 7610 :D

i think you can use the same way:

*#7780# if you just want to flash the setting

*#7370# if you want to wipe everything on your phone memory and restore everything from the factory

or you can use the three button formatting if you can't turn on the phone for some reason.

BTW, when I install and un-install games/apps/Etc. does it leave a registry entry (bit like XP?)?

ADC

it depends on which kind of formatting you use. if you use the soft format (*#7780#) it only reset all the factory setting. it didn't erase anything. only resetting the setting back to the factory setting.

registry? i think there is no registry for every programs. only a certain progs provide it's own registry.

Thanks to all of you for sharing.. beside reset to factory setting.. is there any way to erase all thing in the phone memory.. i want it free.. since i bought a used ngage.. it been dumped with a lot of thing n afraid it will harm if i just delete any data

if you want to delete the data in the phone manually, you can do it. all you need is a file manager that can open all the files and manage it yourself.

on the other hand, you don't have to afraid that your phone will be harmed if you do the reset factory setting. in the symbian phone like 6600 and Ngage there are 2 internal drive. one is Drive C. it content all the data that you can see and modify, such as your images, ringtones, videos, applications, and sort of that.

but there is another drive. its called Drive Z. it is a ROM (read only memory) Drive. you can only see it by using a certain file manager. such as file manager, SeleQ. what's in the Drive Z is the default data from the phone. so, all the phone original data are stored in the Z drive. So, after your Ngage is being formatted, the phone's genuine-data for the operating system is being taken from the Z drive. so, in the short word, drive z contains every important data for the phone. so don't be afraid on doing formatting.

me personally, i've been formatting 5 times on my 6600 (it's beacuse i install to many programs) and i never seen any problem with my 6600.

so, it's up to you. if you want to do it manually, find a file-manager and install it.
