It uses SDL version from anotheguest ([Only registered and activated users can see links]) so it must have the same compatibility of other releases from there.
I can test only on 5530 so so the compatibility with it is perfect, other phones I can just wait to any test and reply. Have u tried the v3 version? Can you post a screen? it starts or crash? try to config SDL pressing CTRL( green key ) and a number:
4 to strech on/off
2/3 to rotate
6 to aspect
CTRL again to finish.

It needs 10~12MB of ram to work so in N95-1 it must run, do you have pips installed?

0.44b version doesnt work for me. When I open a rom, the emulator crashes. Some roms work (Aladdin for example), but I can see a white stripe at the bottom of my screen. Version 0.42 works best for me. Although it has some problems too. When I press C buton in game to bring the menu screen, the screen pops up, but after any other key press emulator crashes.

Maybe you are loading the wrong file, filemanager still have a bug while filtering files, see if wht you are loading is a rom. i'll fix this in the next release.

I'm loading *.smc files. I'm sure they are the right ones. But it doesn't work somehow. I'll try hard reseting my phone, see if it helps. Speaking of future versions (if you are going to release them), an option for turning off title music (when opening emulator) would be awesome. Because it's pretty loud and in version 0.44b it's even lauder and my ears start to hurt until I get a chance to turn the sound off. :D
*UPDATE*: OK, so I've played with Snes4all a little longer and here is my report. First of all I've managed to run all games, no errors. No idea where the roots of my problems were. I guess that was my phone's fault. ^^ Secondly, I found the way to turn the sound off when opening emulator (lower the volume with CTRL pressed). It works ok. Now the problems:
1) When I launch Donkey Kong Country and press play, i get this text in a blue background - "This product will not operate when connected to a device which makes unauthorized copies". v0.42 doesn't have this error.
2) Games like Earthworm Jim and Kirby Super Star lag like hell compared to other games and vSun performance. I guess it's just over emulator's capabilities or is it some kind of a flaw?
3) Games aren't actually fullscreen, there is still a white stripe at the bottom of the screen below the FPS numbers. The option to make the screen fully fullscreen would be awesome.
4) I think saving doesn't work or I'm doing it wrong. When I wanna save the game, I have to press C, than SAVE STATE and choose the slot I want to save to? When I want to load, I have to press the slot number which I saved the game to, but this time on the LOAD STATE line?
5) No games work with Hires mode for me. Secret of Mana works with Hires mode switched off. What is this function for anyway?

Lots of questions!!! Thanks for the feedback.^^
1- It's a protected rom, try another version.
2- Special chips are heavy to emulate so SA-1 games are (depending on the game ) running slower than other games. (I can't see why earthworm jim is slow).
3- It can be done but will slow down the emulator ( try to play with hires on and you will notice the performance drop even without stretch.) but I can enable stretch and hires.
4- You must create a folder called snes4all in e:/data to be able to save.
I removed creation on the installation due to the automatic detection while uninstalling.
5- Hires mode is for full support, the game Secret of Mana works without it but you get errors on the menus.
(Sorry if my posts are hard to read. English is my second language. :) ) same with me^^.

1. On emulator version 0.42 I don't get this error with Donkey Kong Country. The game runs great there. The game doesn't work only on the newest version (0.44b).
2. Got it.
3. That white stripe wouldn't bother me so much if it was black, because now it is white with logo pictures from title screen (it looks like when a game is launched, the stripe doesn't update itself to change color to black and remains white). In older version (0.42) the stripe wasn't white, it was black instead.
4. Got it.

Update:
I have tested the new version for some days and here are some results, hope this can help development. If this emu can improve some (sound) speed i think this would be a profitable app in NL and BE for let's say 2.99 E :)
I use a nokia X6 with CFW 2.10 in combination wit a "MSI" BGP 100 gamepad.
RAM free when starting app:Between:50 and 60 MB
Overall games play well without errors and gaming expercince is a lot better then vsun.
I have tested all below games with sound as i hate playing without sound.
Sound turned off or on does not seem to make a big differnce (only becausse you do not hear the slomo sound it seems faster)
I think this emu can also benifit if someone can add a useable virtual gamepad like in the mame XM emu. The virtual keyboard is already working but only usefull for menu navigation.
Ok here goes:
Super mario world:
Playable: OK!
Sound: Slow, but no lag
Best settings:
-transparancy: off
-frameskip: 4/5
-Sound:2200
Young Merlin:
Playable:OK!
Sound:Slow, but no lag
Best settings:
-transparancy: off
-frameskip: 4/5
-Sound:1100
Killer insticnt:
Playable:Good!
Sound:OK
Best settings:

-frameskip: 4/5
-Sound:800
Zelda:
Playable:OK!
Sound:Very slow
Best settings:
-transparancy:on (very strange beginnign when set to off)
-frameskip: 4/5
-Sound:No good setting all slow
Mario RPG:
Playable:Bad
Sound:slow
Best settings:
Setting frame rate to 5 or 4 makes it at least a little playable.
Going to test more.
Really love this app :) :)

After further emulator testing I've come up with these results:
The emulator seems to work fine on N85. No lock ups, freezes or glitches. However, I've found two problems which weren't in your previous version 0.42.
These are the following:
1) After opening the rom, there still is a white stripe at the bottom of the screen which turns black after I press green key (CTRL text appears on the screen). So I have to press green key each time I save or load a game, which is tiring, because white stripe strains eyes a little. This issue wasn't present in previous version 0.42
2) Game Donkey Kong Country doesn't work in version 0.44b, it says that the game will not run on hardware connected to copying device. This issue wasn't present in version 0.42.
Despite these flaws gaming experience is really good, better than vSun for most games. :) I hope these bugs will be fixed in later releases. Thanks for this awesome app!

Maybe you have a corrupted ROM and the emu isn't setting it to NTSC.

Must be that the OS9.4 Has all or near all that installed by default,
So on the earlies versions it's must be manually installed. Have you updated your phone to the last firmware?
PS: there's no need to install SDL, it is built in the app.

hey. Yes, it is possible with the help of application MagicKey. You can find this application in iPmart. Just search for it. Here are the instructions how to use the app:
1. Press right to go to the KeyMap List.
2. Press 1 or Options->Add to add a new KeyMap item. Name it as you wish.
3. Click on the new Item you've just created, then click again to add a new Key Pair.
4. Click on the OK/Select button [the middle of the 4-ways button].
5. From the list, select the key you wish to map. You can type the name of the button to search for it.
6. After you've selected the Original key, it's scancode will appear on the screen.
7. Go down to the "Map to:" field.
8. Click on the OK/Select button again and select the key you wish to replace the one you've selected earlier.
9. Select OK.
10. Go back to KeyMap list, press left to go to the App list.
11. Press 1 or Options->Add and select you program for which you want to change the key mapping
12. Click on the new Item you've just created and select the KeyMap you've created.
13. Important - Press Exit. The program will exit, but part of it will still run in the background (the program's icon will not be shown as active).
14. Run the program you've selected [i.e. PicoDrive], and enjoy the remapped buttons.
Feel free to contact me if you have problems using this awesome lifesaver(MagicKey) :D

Hi,
installed it on my N97, after starting the first time i was shocked by that terrible menue tune wich is way to loud.
No problem for that I turned the fm transmiter on an bypass the sound.
but now i run into some trouble, i can`t navigate in menu, not by keypress not by virtual keymap that happend after i run in ctrl mode and the emulator crashed. I uninstall it and install again but keys are still mapped to hell.
were is the cfg saved so i can delete it ?
I do not know how deep you go into programming. I recognized that all V3 emulators stall when they had to rescale output to fit in 640x360pix. cause that uses a lot of cpu time. Isnīt it possible to use a hardware stretch? gpsp runs on nokias Qt and they managed to scale very fast.
Picodrive unscaled near 50fps with sound, if scaled it goes down to 10fps.
Bladeforce

daarklord
11th October 2010, 02:34
@DeKilla
The config is stored at C:/data/snes4sym_UID (UID is a number), you may delete it;
The volume you can be adjusted pressing CTRL (better to use the built in virtual keyboard 'cause SEND on s60v5 calls screen keys).
The main problem on s60v5 is the screen that has a big size and blit is not accelerated so it is hard to get high fps with full screen apps so any app lose performance when using big screen.

About DK, there's some optimization on the emulator that makes the game protection to activate and lock while entering ingame. but there are euro versions that are modified and have this protection deactivated. you can run these versions normaly.

Thanx for the answer. I was able to delete the cfg file and install again.
So i was able to test around. So far i can see is the emulated sound is ok and the hole emulation works great. Speed isuses. But faster as i expected cause all other s60 tries for SNES are much slower or incomplete.
But nokia realy does a mess with that 360mhz arm11 inside my phone.
Ur project is one of the highlights in SNES on 60V5!
Yes i know screensize eats cpupower, cause each pixel will be calculated and drawn. Since i programmed c-64 and amiga a lot of time passed by, so i now not realy inside the scene. As i can see realplayer can scale extreamly fast on my n97 for sure it uses a kind of hardware scaling.my thought was maybe same routine it is useable for scaling up the 320x200 to fullscreen.
Just an idea...

One question, i tested stunt race fx and star fox 2,they run but with lags. This emulator runs near fullspeed in a PIII 500Mhz with sound without HW dx accelerated graphics so it could at least run at 20FPS with sound on the 5630XM but the nokia phones are really slow so I can't even believe on the clock speed that nokia says it's have.
*Control can be changed with F6 key: CTRL > 1 > CTRL change num keys to function keys

*You can play superFX games with manual frameskip but still a little slow.

*Control can be changed with F6 key: CTRL > 1 > CTRL change num keys to function keys
(red FN on the screen). Press 6 (F6) to change control type and CTRL > 1 > CTRL to return to normal keys.
*You can play superFX games with manual frameskip but still a little slow.

In fact, one time, with Jbenchmarck ACE, i had a result of 531MHz which corresponds to the frequency, +/-, to the all chip of the freescalle MXC300-30 which has a frequency of 532MHz.

WOW!!
Thank you so much for adding mouse and scope support!! :)
This EMU/ is just getting better and better.
Here are some test results :
Lamborghini:
fps:ok/good
controls:wierd ?? sometimes it works perfect and you can really shoot the cars but sometimes you can not get out of the grass no matter what.
SNES scope6
fps:good!
controls:Every game i tried is playable so far wack a mole is the coolest on X6
Yoshi's Safari
fps:slow
controls:Good accuracy but no "pad" jump and no turbo selectable so the game is unplayable
Other games i tried are also unplayable due to the lack of keypad or turbo.
Still it is very cool to see updates so quick maybe some snes modders can develop touch games using this emu and wack a mole is realy one of the coolest games i have played on my X6.
Thx and loads of repp!!

@skagek
I've never played with superscope before, Can you explain how these controls work?
Wht is the need of turbo and how we make the yoshi jump?
skagek
22nd October 2010, 23:31
Hi,
The superscope used 3 buttons and 1 switch:
1:fire
2:start/pause
3:"cursor"
the switch turbo was used to press and hold the fire button "turbo" fire
else you had to keep pushing the button.
In Yoshi's Safari the " cursor" button is used to jump.
So if it is possible to map an other button in superscope mode and some kind of press and hold function we can play al the superscope supported games.
thanks again for this wonderfull app.

This emulator is nearly perfect already. If only there could be a possibility for it to emulate those special chip games a little better, because they are unplayable at the moment. Crappy nokia's processors...

On my 5630XM works a bit faster than on the phones with 369MHz and 434MHz cpus. In relation to 369MHz ones the difference of speed it's the double, because i tested with AntSnes, which it's similar, on my 5700XM and after with my 5630XM and this happens. And also it shows with Snes4Sym. On the OMAP2 based phones like the N95 or N82, i don't know, because they have graphic acceleration and this helps the emulation, but its cpu it's a bit weaker. It's possible that the GPU of the OMAP 2420 doesn't make significant difference in relation to my 5630XM.

THX daarklord,
I can now play yoshi s safari!!!!:urtheman:
I have noticed that with this new version in superscope mode "*" is being used as cursor "0" as turbo and "#" as start.
It is just a small thing but do you think you can swap "*" and "#" so we can play the game with minimal virtual key pad on the right side of the screen?
Thx again i really love this emu!! :yourock:

put them into others folder. Or you can make any folder inside others folder and put the roms there. I made it like this: others/SNES/

hi every pro symbian user i beg you all to read my thread hello all guys ,if any interested please i am a professional symbian user i have nokia n96 and i consider it number 1 symbian for my opinion despite the n95 8gb its also the most perfect nokia ever made but had limited memory size which is only 8gb ;) anyway
all the new emulators worked very well for my n96 ,i mean picodrive 1.51b anotherguest and so on
used magickey and all worked like a dream
but when i only installed snes4sym 0.51b the latest version on n96 plus the pips+c++ and all the adds that it needed and even the previous versions of snes4sym as well same results
the results are:
its started all everything 100% fine send key (green) vol up, load rom then browse as well smc files of course snes extension and also zipped .... to save memory size but too bad
all my tries are useless nothing worked
the only result i had just crash while loading the roms
dont tell me please that i've mistaken or had any wrong steps because i used it on my previous n95 and worked to me
so i am very sure i've did all correct
i have even tried to move the roms everywhere and used snes4sym file browser to load them 'also used the root e:/ and root f:/ nothing helped and btw i cant reach root folders using this emulator somehow it only going to random source files ,depends on which memory that you installed in i think and going often to data/others as well.....
i've tried to install it on c:/ hoping that it need the fastest storage on this phone but unfortunately same same same results community
my question is:
if there is ever a way to emulate snes4sym (no matter any version) at all?
or anyone owned n96 and worked it for him luckily somehow and if yes? then tell me how... i will be so thankful my cheers..^^
i've tried every possibilities for my long experience and i feel disappointed that n96 cant do this
also i feel hopeless :(thanks in advance and thank you for reading all my regards guys

hey folks, if anyones still using this, i could use some help. I've got the emu installed ok and it opens fine and detects the .smc files, but wen i run it pretty much nothing happens. I'll get a message pop up like ''???i??. ?an??''loaded. and then nothing happens save for a flicker every now and again. Is it the rom's or snes4all ? My fone is an n95. pls help as i'd love to use this app cheers. .

actually i've noticed that antsnes does this too, so i figure its got to be some kind of conflict between these and another app. I have other sdl based emu's working fine so it cant be that. if you've had similar issues and found the cause i'd appreciate the help as i'm not ready to format 4 this app. cheers.

Hello. This emulator is friggin perfect. I only have one problem. I have a vivaz pro with a qwerty keyboard and therefore do not need the virtual keyboard. There's the black stripe on the side where the virtual keyboard is that i want to remove. Is there a way to remove the virtual keyboard? Ty :D
