View Full Version : PicoDrive 1.51 for S60v3 (anotherguest)
Vurhis 18th October 2010, 11:52 PicoDrive 1.51 for S60v3 + BIOS for MEGA CD (SEGA CD)
This is yet another Megadrive / Genesis / Sega CD / Mega CD emulator, which was written having ARM-based handheld devices in mind (such as PDAs, smartphones and handheld consoles like GP2X and Gizmondo of course). The critical parts (renderer, 68K and Z80 cpu interpreters) and some other random code is written in ARM asm, other code is C. The base code originates from Dave's (fdave, finalburn) PicoDrive 0.30 for Pocket PC. The Sega/Mega CD code is roughly based on Stephane Dallongeville's Gens.
needed for the emulator libraries PIPS

luispratas 18th October 2010, 15:57 Where we put the bios? In which directory and folder?
Vurhis 18th October 2010, 16:05 c/data/Picodrive
Fonixx 19th October 2010, 01:30 I just tried to load roms from memory card but emulator crashes everytime i click on one, the only way they work is if you put games in C:Data/Picodrive folder, so this is a bit useless if you short on internal memory, also there's no landscape/portrait screen selection, but still excellent new options.
Vurhis 19th October 2010, 11:54 Bios files all the way c / data / Picodrive, and the games can be run with a memory card, I did not have any errors ... needed for the emulator libraries PIPS
dhanial 19th October 2010, 12:00 I can't configure the control, i think this version its still beta
Vurhis 19th October 2010, 12:34 Is not beta)))

Fonixx 20th October 2010, 01:49 I managed to get roms running from E drive now, i have a folder E:Others/Md roms that i always store the games and old Picodrive ran games alright from there, so i just copied the C:Data/Picodrive folder and put in E:Data and all the games run now.
Fonixx 22nd October 2010, 03:26 I just remapped the slider keys to use but does anyone know how to get the screen in landscape mode so they on the sight side? It has no screen options and when i move the slider it just switches to portrait, and i used RotateMe and switched the landscape 180 mode on, but again when i turn to right it just switches to portrait. Is there any other screen rotate apps i can try or some config file to edit?
Vurhis 22nd October 2010, 13:22 Press the call key when you run the emulator, you will see green sign Ctrl, then press 2 and the screen will be in a different mode
Fonixx 22nd October 2010, 22:15 Thanks! That did the job.
skagek 23rd October 2010, 00:03 Cool to see this upgrade for picodrive my phone is getting better every week.
I have a sega megadrive + sega cd somewhere gathering dust, and it is really cool to play the old games again. Some games you can even play on your touch phone without gamepad.
Here are some test results for sega cd on nokia X6
Dune:
Playable:Fully without gamepad :)
Works great !!!! I have tried this game via dosbox and mame xm but on this emu it really works full speach!!
Sound:Some stuttering but still great!
Night Trap:
Playable:Fully without gamepad!!
This game is like a security stystem the video resolution is a bit small but it supports full speach!!
sound:great!
Jurassic park:
Playable:Good!
Again the resolution of the orignal or the emu is a bit choppy but you can play it on your touch screen phone no probs and it still looks pretty good.
Sound:Good
Sonic CD:
Playable:Good (gamepad required)
Sound:Good.
Space Ace:
Playable:Not really (Gamepad required)
The game seems to skip scene's and you can only guess what to do (could be rom realted)
Road avenger:
Playable:Not. (black screen after sega logo)
I have tried different rom versions.
Dragons lair:
Playable:Not (exit app)
Different roms same result.
For touchscreen phones it will be cool to support the sega lightgun to make the list of games playable on touchscreen phones even bigger.
zaro 2nd November 2010, 22:42 It works great.
2 questions:
- how do i set up+left and up+right keys (etc)
- how do i insert cheats
I own a Vivaz Pro so i use keyboard
julito2002 3rd November 2010, 02:47 It doesn't work on my N8 :s Well I can launch Picodrive but the virtual keyboard doesn't appear the screen is scrambled, it's a display issue 'cause I can't see the virtual keyboard but when I press somewhere on the screen where the virtual keyboard should be it seems to respond. Could you fix this problem ? Thanks a lot !
packo 3rd November 2010, 03:36 Hi, how I can set the keys A and B on my nokia N81 as in version 1.35, to play in horizontal
jhay06 6th November 2010, 06:16 what do i need to play sega cd? .iso only and disregard mp3 files? Or .iso+mp3 ? Or iso+mp3 dumped in .bin?how much ram needed for this?
skagek 6th November 2010, 14:20 Hi,
To play sega cd make sure the bios files are in c/data/Picodrive
I use the iso and mp3 files and then load the iso. i don't think there is more memory required then when playing normal sega games.
On my nokia X6 i have better sound when disabeling ARM940 sound.
And better framerates with frameskip set to auto.
hope this helps..
zaro 18th November 2010, 19:41 It works great.

I think i ll go back to version 1.3.5, since i had solved all problems. It just takes a little longer to load Roms.
Vurhis 18th November 2010, 23:05 I'll stay on this, because it is stable + runs every game with the usual Sega and some with Sega CD
Songee 3rd January 2011, 20:11 I so love this new emulator very much. ^^ It's million times better than the old 1.35 version. Fast skipping through roms, huge variety of settings, better rom compatability, more awesome options for setting controls and CD support!.... :D
Vurhis 3rd January 2011, 21:37 Yeeea man!!! Its better))))
ButcherZV 3rd January 2011, 22:30 link is dead! reupload please (or just BIOS :D)
Songee 3rd January 2011, 22:46 The only problem is that I can't get a game called Voy (usa version) to work. During the SEGA title screen, when sonic shoots some blue particles over SEGA logo, it freezes and red led stops blinking. I assume the emulator seizes to load the game. No matter what settings I choose, same thing happens. I've tried the game on my PC on a different emulator and it worked. So I guess Voy is incompatable with PicoDrive or it's just me having problems with this game.
*Updated*
I've tried Robo Aleste and it went through that SEGA logo just fine. PicoDrive must be incompatible with the Voy.

DeathsHand 6th January 2011, 19:22 I'm pretty sure that Sega-CD games that utilized Mode-7 won't work on this emulator...I tried Wing Commander and the "psuedo 3D" sprites won't show up...
Chowder995 7th January 2011, 09:52 I just tried to load roms from memory card but emulator crashes everytime i click on one, the only way they work is if you put games in C:Data/Picodrive folder, so this is a bit useless if you short on internal memory, also there's no landscape/portrait screen selection, but still excellent new options.
I put the bios files in correct folder.. and still can't load any iso... help?
Songee 8th January 2011, 19:29 I put the bios files in correct folder.. and still can't load any iso... help?
Make sure that you put them in C:\Data\picodrive\ and that the bios files are named like this:
US: us_scd2_9306.bin
EU: eu_mcd2_9306.bin
JAP: jp_mcd1_9112.bin
These are the names of my bios files that work.
nikolicaboss 26th June 2011, 15:23 Great emu!
Only one problem I noticed:
If you change scaling options (needed for some games) - it will not remember them at all, after next restart.
Cheers!
