View Full Version : Stellarium Mobile - touch the stars
fire4one 23rd October 2010, 01:29 Stellarium mobile is a cool App for little astonauts which want to reach the stars without a spacship^^ You may know the stellarium app from the iPad Spot on tv. Basicly this application displays the nightsky and orientates at the gps data your device receives and shows every star location in realtime.
May someone can upload it and share with us ;-)
Well I've found a way to install it for FREE!!! Follow these steps:
Download stellarium_0.10.3r4182-1_armel.deb from
[Only registered and activated users can see links]
Open X-Terminal and type 'root' (without the '')
press enter
type 'dpkg -i stellarium_0.10.3r4182-1_armel.deb'
press enter
(there will be an error but it doesn't matter...
continue with typing)
type 'apt-get -f install' and press enter
Here we go... stellarium was installed succesfully and can be used after a reboot of ur device.
Hope I have helped and best regards,
fire4one
P.S.: If someone uploads the original .deb file from Ovi Store it will be easier to install. It worked for me and I'm sorry to say that I can't help u if some problems occure. Credits goes to Zetyotka 8-)
proper mobile version here...

antizionist 23rd October 2010, 17:12 Where do I save the file on the N900 if I download it through the computer and then transfer it?
I can't seem to download it through my N900 from Megaupload. The "free download" button don't show, just the "Premium download".

Is this version any better/different than the one I've been using for the last 8 months or so?
Will it install separately from the orig Stellarium? Or do I need to uninstall it?

There wasn`t any other stellarium mobile like this before, maybe you are talking about orey? This app won a contest from nokia some months ago, but was never released. Seems that after some discussion in maemo.org they released it in ovi this week.
fire4one 23rd October 2010, 20:13 @ antizionist just put the file in the mainfolder of N900 (no subdiconary) so it shouldnt be placed in a folder and I recognized that the link is down so ill upload it here again. You have to w8 about 45 seconds before the free download button appears (hes situated under the premium button ;-P
@ luiscesjr thats wrong! indded there was no version of this program optimized for the N900 but there were already working versions aviable (ported versions or some others already have been working on the N-tablet)
@ les_garten may u realy mean orrey and if not... pls upload this file u were using so i can try to make it work for the others (upload it anyway ^^)
R2_D2 23rd October 2010, 20:17 I don't think that this is Stellarium Mobile. If you visit OVI store, you will see that mobile version has only 15,67 MB ([Only registered and activated users can see links]).
Mobile package is stellarium_mobile_1_0_3_113373.deb which is specially optimized for N900.
They say that mobile file is under GPL license and should be redistribute freely. If that's the truth, here you have the right link to mobile version ([Only registered and activated users can see links]).
aathava 23rd October 2010, 20:33 yeah, its the stellarium desktop version ported to N900, the one on ovi store is stellarium mobile,

gagandeep11 and all members, do not download .deb file of Stellarium, becoz it is useless, coz the.deb file doesn't have the all dependence packages. if u all relay want this aap in your phone then download from you app Installer. from Wifi network or GPRS, Stellarium is a very good application but there are lots of improvements are pending, but still it is fare enough to enjoy stars, we hope developers make there focus on this.
I hope my friend like this info. :backtotopic:
fire4one 23rd October 2010, 22:52 Why the hack is this download so slow? pls upload to megaupload.com pls pls pls

WarriorSach 23rd October 2010, 22:55 @fire4one

les_garten 23rd October 2010, 23:32 Could this thread be more screwed up?
How about fixing the 1st post!
I had to downgrade to install the SW from the first post. That tell you anything? That's the old ver of the N900 port of Stellarium.
WE REALLY NEED MORE ANIMATED SMILIES! NOT! What's that about....

Im sorry:sorry:
R2_D2 24th October 2010, 00:10 fire4one, don't need to apologize, I can see your good intention with sharing application, but some people can't. Nobody is forcing anyone to download from link you provided and we all must aware that downloading from "wild sources" involves some risk. Who can say that app from "my link" is not malware (have a rootkit or something)?

sachd, dickweed, just because you can't get it working is mainly an indictment of you, goofball!
The link in post #25 is perfect. I have ported Stellarium and Stellarium Mobile running perfectly side by side. Guess it makes you feel good to ding my rep for no reason...
Real Funny guy...

OUTSTANDING!
It is tons easier to use and less quirky than the original ported version.
Very nice of DarkAlucard in post #25 to make it available!
fire4one 25th October 2010, 20:47 Haha I just want to help. fofb
les_garten 25th October 2010, 21:14 Haha I just want to help. fofb
No problem, we know you were trying to help.
Howabout doing a TOTAL edit on your first post and just using the link from post 25 like you have at the bottom? Would be less confusing.
fire4one 25th October 2010, 23:04 ok nice idea but someone did it before I can do ^^ (I'll have in mind for next time ;-)
Mystery? Who edited my post? An admin!?
