Hi,
I have spent numerous hours to get Sygic Mapmyindia to work on Android, finding the right combination of files. This is "Sygic 10" and "All India Street Level Map Version 4.1".

I know many others have not been able to get this work well.

Now that I have things working, I would like to share it with the community.

@Ioji Thanks for the Maps and KeyGen.

The major issues that I had been able to sort out are, crash after startup and states of India appearing as a blank list.

Update 1:
Here are the install instructions for those who are trying Sygic/MapMyIndia first time
1. Unzip the .rar file
2. Copy SetupAndroid.apk to SDCard root.
3. Copy Maps, Drive and Res folders as-is again to the SDCard root.
4. Run SetupAndroid.apk
5. Run Sygic after installation, and choose Manual Activation. Note down the device id.
6. Use the Keygen to generate Activation code using the device id and pointing to "MapmyIndia All India Street Level Map Version 4.1.mlm" file and give this when asked for and you are good to go.

n1geek. Thanks for posting this.

I downloaded all your files from "Set 2" links and followed all your instructions. However, the keygen does not seem to work for me. In "About" section, the version is 8.14 (not 8.22, as in your pic)

My device id is: 1b021d7d55.

Any help will be really appreciated.

For users that having problems with no Device Id just download This Rar ([Only registered and activated users can see links]) with the 2 dll files and overright it the 2 ones in -> Windows Mobile -> Drivers -> ppc

[Only registered and activated users can see links]

Then run Sygic again and then you will have your device Id

Finally found the solution to the "Unable to compute a route. low memory[3]"
It was hit and try for me so I hope it works for you too.
FYI I use the HTC Legend, Android 2.2, Sygic Mobile Maps v8.22 for Map My India 4.1

Do the following steps by either using ES File Explorer(like I did) or connect/mount your phone to your computer.
1. Go to the folder DRIVE then ANDROID
2. Open "settings.ini"
3. Go to the end of the file where you would see " ;recommendedRam=10.0"
4. Remove the " ; " symbol so that it looks like "recommendedRAM=10.0"
5. Save and exit
This should do the job.

PS: I had already changed the option on the very top the same file to "memory=high" much before so you can try it if the above does not work..

The screenshot shows the program versiona s v8.22 while the links posted are of version v8.14. And one thing more, across all the forums and links I have visited, the maps provided for sygic are mapmyindia v4.01 and not v4.1. I've mapmyindia v4.1 maps on my Garmin GPs and I can see that they are more detailed.

I tried both tweaks. Still I am getting the same problem.
One thing I have noticed is, It is able to compute route for a small distance (ex 10 km travel within city) but if I try to compute route for long distance travel from one city to other city, the problem is seen.

Any suggestions or solutions to resolve this?

Are you able to use the "Navigate to feature"?

Try computing a route from your location to another city >1000 kms.
Are you getting any low memory[3] error?

Are you using Froyo2.2? Also what is the RAM available as shown in sygic (settings -> about imobilemaps and check RAM) ?

jain_pranav
10th January 2011, 12:32
Well ya im able to use naviagate feature..
Didn't try more than 1000 kms places though.

@rajivdhan: Hey I too tried out these steps. But it does not work for me while computing route for long distances. strange though..If I try to navigate within the city it generates the route..but from one city to other it shows up the same error.
Are you able to generate route for say from your place to juhu in Mumbai :)

Hi Santosh,
Have you solved the issue of sygic stuck with 8192 kb (8 mb) or memory. I have the same issue and have tried fiddling with settings.ini. Reinstalling, even changing roms, but can't find the solution

santu71182
22nd January 2011, 17:36
@deVil06 : Unfortunately v8.22 never worked for me. But I installed v8.12 from some link (sorry couldn't store the link try googling) and used the MIM maps. It works fine for me though there are crashes but may be 1 out 10 times. Thats good enough for something which is free I guess ;)

There are 3 folders that are to be copied on to the SD card, viz. Drive, Maps and Res. You can find "MapmyIndia All India Street Level Map Version 4.1.mlm" in the Maps folder. If you cannot find it there, let me know. I'll recheck the upload to make sure that I didn't mess up anything while uploading.

BTW, It is not working for me since I upgraded to Gingerbread. But works great on Froyo.

I have installed the maps on Samsung Galaxy Tab and starting correctly however Sygic maps not able to use full resolution of my 7" screen of Galaxy Tab. Some one found any settings that can change the resolution ? I tried the DPI=220 settings it just increases the Icon size but total maps showed in the same size small window on the screen

Hi I am newbie,

I installed the application from the procedure,
1. Unzip the .rar file
2. Copy SetupAndroid.apk to SDCard root.
3. Copy Maps, Drive and Res folders as-is again to the SDCard root.
4. Run SetupAndroid.apk

After which i was not able to find the app called Sygic. An app called MapMyIndia is installed, When i try to open it it crashes out without any warning. Pls help:afraid:
