Yeah maybe it will be available, but not until the phones can handle the quality of the games

There could be a snes emu out, picodrive is a port of a genesis emu for PDA and genesis had a faster cpu than the SNES. Plus theres a snes emu for PDA called "snesP" or something similar.

i think s60 cpu is not strong enough to emulate snes games...(100MHZ is too weak)

what about game bo advanced
any emulator coming out for that??

Snes games should be easy for a phone if the emulator is written well.

Snes Specs :
CPU : 16-bit
Clock speed : 3.58, 2.68, 1.79 MHz
RAM : 128 Kb
VRAM : 16 Kb
Resolution : 512 x 448px

:D

Kassad
10th November 2004, 01:26
Hmmm where did get that info from... Is that original resolution of the snes games.

Raiko
10th November 2004, 01:45
http://www.whatconsole.co.uk/nintendo.php

Sega Genesis (MegaDrive) indeed has a higher clockspeed, the rest of the stats are lower though, (Lower res, making the games look worse, and less ram, making for less concurrent sprites onscreen)

I don't think we should underestimate the power of phones nowadays, at least my respect-o-meter got a boost when I saw games like Skyforce running on my phone :D

i think they will release it soon... somebody must be working at it... if we got genesis well get snes too..

Well u see

N-Gage/6600 = 104Mhz
7610/6670 = 123Mhz
6630 = 220Mhz

Im quite sure they are all capable of emulating SNES games or even GBA games... but the problem would be the screen size... for GBA its widescreen, so i think to get proper game size u have to flip the phone on its side!

A snes emulator is not going to happen, the only reason PicoDrive was possible was due to fDave coding Cyclone, an ARM ASM core of the MegaDrive (among others) cpu.

Take for instance the GP32, it is a 166Mhz+ (with overclocking) machine, with 8MB of ram, but it cannot emulate snes at full speed, even though it has no OS overhead, although it does a damn good job at trying. But due to fDaves Cyclone core the GP32 has a MegaDrive emulator that is full speed with sound, as the GP32 also uses an ARM chip (ARM9 to be exact).

Actually, it is possible to emulate SNES in the phone. vSun, an SNES emulator, is now available. it's far from perfect but still an SNES emulator. Could it fast? Yes. Try programming it in assembly code and we'll see if it's still not fast enough.

is it worth it to play snes games on vsun, or is it not yet capable enough of significantly efficient emulation?

fonzi
8th May 2005, 14:24
It runs a bit slow at the moment. Lets hope they can still speed it up a bit.

A SNES Emu will only work in Ngage or mob with more RAM than 4MB

Vsun is running on my 6600 but colours are mixed (in every game i've been testing - Flashback, Mortal Kombat, Worms, Out of this world) and it's running a bit slow.

I hope that new wersion or other (is there any?) emulator will fix that.

Kassad
10th May 2005, 19:13
No there is no other snes emu.. the Vampnet team is the only team has managed to make a working snes emu.. Yes the colours are not good on ur phone.. use the right version. this is second release of the software.. they are working on a new update...
