So even you use the software or a device such as 6260 you still cant use if you never subsribe to the operator or 3rd party operator. In singapore we have to subscribe to "GRID" PTT operator in order to use PTT. Mostly used by big hotel company. Can we make use of normal gprs connection for PTT, since all singapore operators are providing gprs platform already? geoffrey23 25th May 2005, 13:10 no...i dont think so...i think its depend on the network. because PTT uses the cellular's network. Can we make use of normal gprs connection for PTT, since all singapore operators are providing gprs platform already? Because, PTT IS WORKING ON GPRS OR EDGE mode which is ALWAYS ONLINE. so, do you want to PAY A HIGH GPRS PRICE for something that YOU DONT USE?? nah...GRID make agreement with it. so GRID's network is a GPRS-always connected network that allow voice service also, but only for certain area, for example, HYATT hotel's staffs who using GRID only can call the user within HYATT hotel only. Understand? papajordan45 27th May 2005, 01:01 So there is no specific use for the common smartphone owners. Right?? Does anyone know if there is a network in Greece that supports this application?? Thanks Nokia174 27th May 2005, 10:18 How it work´s ? vickysharma 28th May 2005, 17:52 does it work in india? so many application like implus msn n all dont work in india, atleast with my gprs provider does this one work??? zoboz 29th May 2005, 06:45 Simple answer but please correct me if i am wrong. We have to use a sim card from the operator so that we can communicate. That means that we have to be connected to the service provider (SP). There is NO way that we can use just a software for push to talk without going through the SP network or system. This means that we have to subscribe and pay for this service if u r SP offer this PTT option. It would be so great if PTT works just from installing a software in u r phone but I 99% sure that this is impossible. :) akyh1981 29th May 2005, 19:56 Email reply frm PTT provider in Singapore... "I regret to inform you that we are an iDEN operator, which is a different platform with GSM platforms. As such, you will not be able to use our GRID service on your mobile phone. GRID service can only be used on a GRID phone. GRID service is an island-wide walkie-talkie and mobile phone service, you do not need to be near each other to use, as long as the both users are in the coverage area. You will receive a new SIM card when you subscribe to our service, which can only be used on an iDEN phone." ToYbOx 21st June 2005, 14:40 so in the end we still need to pay to grid lah wat the hell men..... singapore pay and pay.
