Hello,

i am thinking of upgrading my computer's RAM.
Now i dont know how many mhz exactly to chose! If i buy 1gb with 800MHz it would be ok? As i read 800MHz is faster over 400MHz..

My computer has the following details:
AMD Athlon 64x2 dual
2,50ghz 2GB RAM

I have 2 slot available of ram, and i am on XP
I use Speccy and it says:
in DRAM Frequency: 358 Mhz
in Bus Speed: 200.5 Mhz
Rated Bus Speed: 1002.3 Mhz
Stock Core Speed 2500 Mhz
Stock Bus Speed 200 Mhz
Core 0 - Core Speed: 2505.09 MHz, Multiplier x12.5
And the same for Core 1

Is it better to choose exactly the same ram as the previous one - which was Kingston? Or select another brand this time - according to cost?
Also shall i select Kingston 2gb or 1gb Ram?

Also, Motherboard:
Manufacturer Gigabyte Technology Co., Ltd.
Model GA-MA69VM-S2
Chipset Vendor ATI
Chipset Model RS690/RS690M
Chipset Revision 00
Southbridge Vendor ATI
Southbridge Model SB600
Southbridge Revision 00

Thank you!

best thing to do ;
take the existing RAM card out to your shop & buy exact same one
it will give you maximum [ 3GB ]
you cannot use more RAM , you would need a 64bit pc for it

if you need more RAM , buy [ or download] a 64bit windows [ any version]
then you can buy 8GB [ 4 slots X 2GB ]
the hardware supports it , as far as i can tell

but only if you need it !!!!!!!!!!

Hello,

i bought the 800Mhz, but the computer only recognises 400mhz... Is this correct? Is the new RAM affected by the epreviously installed rams?

no , its controlled by the motherboard , or , its BIOS , actually

i dont think its very importend , its the size that counts most [ MB ]
if your computer recognize it , its ok
