View Full Version : Exclusive- N-gage Game Installer - Remover and More
mywindow 6th November 2004, 17:14 As new games are released it is getting more difficult to install and remove multiple N-Gage games without messing up others. This confusion about the LIBS files have driven many questions about how these games work. This file addresses these problems along with others.
FEATURES:
Written in Windowz batch language for easy editing with a text editor
Automatic recognition of MMC drive even if drive letter changes
Install or Removal of individual games or all games at once (games can be installed or removed in any order)
Install or Removal of all current LIBS files (Fixes corrupt installs)
Listing of all games installed on MMC
Directory tree listing of files on drive
Format of MMC drive
Defragment and Repair MMC drive
Full backup and restore of MMC with compression and 256bit AES Encryption
REQUIREMENTS:
This program should run on Windowz NT, 2K, XP, 2003, and Longhorn. Everyone else will have to modify the file. You will also need a USB card reader for the N-Gage QD and other phones since this program will read the USB Port and is completely useless with Bluetooth. You will also need your own copy of the games. I did not provide them since they are available from this site. You will also need to repackage and rename your game files before they will work. This is a onetime thing and is really no big deal.
Enjoy! Hope it's as handy for you as it is for me!
Major Update Released 04-24-2005 - version 44

GeeJay 7th November 2004, 03:41 i dont understand how to install games...
i understand that i need to download the games, and "repackage them"
what do you mean by that? i have put them in files with the same names as the current ones, but comes up with error sdaying it cannot be installed, as the game may be damaged/missing
Dmoe 7th November 2004, 03:55 I have windows 98se . You say file will need to be altered. Do you know that this is possible and if so is there anyway for me to find out how ? Cheers dmoe
tech.junkie 7th November 2004, 08:35 if it works as advertised, this would b a very useful program 4 n-gage users. but i dont have a USB cable 4 my n-gage qd. will it work using a USB card reader :?:
d4v35 7th November 2004, 09:03 Thanks mate... God Work... Hope your support would be best.

I was afraid this would eventually come up? I tried too keep it simple? It sounds like you may not understand compression and are unaware of the 7-zip .7z format? Altough it is not nessasary for this file to work you may want to download a Windoz compression utillity capable of handeling the .7z format, I choose the .7z format because of its 30% better compression over .zip files. You may use either without any problems. Here are a couple of freeware products?
http://www.7zip.org
http://www.izsoft.dir.bg
http://www.zipgenius.it/
All of these programs handle many more extensions then .7z .zip .rar etc, etc...
Now thats out of the way by "Repackage" I mean that most released games are compressed numerouse times to decrease file size. This script will not handle files in this condition? So you will need to "Repackage" them to a format the script will expect. I have included such demonstration files in this release.
If the above is to much for you try this?
1.) Plug-in Your MMC card to the USB Port of your computer
2.) Run my script "start.cmd" Select the M option and F for Format. Format your MMC but DO NOT make system folders.
3.) Install your downloaded games as you would normaly do without my script. (Make sure the game works!)
4.) Now run start.cmd again and select the M option and B for backup select file type give it the appropriate name and press enter for default folder.
5.) Now that game is packaged and ready for use.
Good Luck!
I have windows 98se . You say file will need to be altered. Do you know that this is possible and if so is there anyway for me to find out how ? Cheers dmoe
Sorry that Windowz did not keep batch oommand consistant between versions? I may intergrate DOS functionality in the future since I want this to run from a boot CD. The biggest problem is user input. DOS and 98 use the "CHOICE" command over the "SET" command. All the "SET /P" commands will need to be changed to the appropriate "CHOICE" command.
if it works as advertised, this would b a very useful program 4 n-gage users. but i dont have a USB cable 4 my n-gage qd. will it work using a USB card reader?
Thanks! It does make life a little easier? I would reccomend the use of a USB card reader.
Thanks mate... g** Work... Hope your support would be best.
You are most welcome? Not sure what you mean about support though?
Dmoe 7th November 2004, 13:17 Cheers for the advice ! As always your more than helpful mate , much respect . I'll give it a try .

I would rather see you post a link to this site for support and maintenance reasons? Not to mention the games needed are located on this site!
That being said I don't really care what is done with this file. There is no licence or expectations. This is mostly for my enjoyment. I would not have released it if there was another solution.

Linko 15th December 2004, 05:29 Hey there, I think there is a small bug with the latest release. When I try to install X-men beta, it installs KOF beta instead. :) Youy might want to take a look at it to come up with a patch or something. :)

Are the game descriptions usefull to anyone? Have been considering there removal... Any ideas???
Linko 16th December 2004, 05:02 I was thinking that the descriptions are useful, but they do get boring after a while since if I'm to install and uninstall it, I keep reading it over and over again. How about an option to read the game description instead of letting it come full blown in the face everytime? Just a thought.
Linko 16th December 2004, 05:04 Hmmm...another thing, I can't seem to find the files for the mods of red faction anywhere. And clues? :)
d4v35 16th December 2004, 05:13 cheers to mywindow.
I've download your first /original files of the installer, and I want to update it with more new games.... pls telll me where can I get the last updated of your program ( ver 40 12/2004)?

It's right back where you downloaded it. On the 1st page of this topic. The latest version alway replace the last.
d4v35 16th December 2004, 05:33 Thanx... I've download it but I got extracting problem.... hang when I want to extract it...?

I am feeling the same way? I will work on showing game info on request... Maybe a separate .HTML file is in order to combine all the info? Since it really bloats and clutters the script?
The Red Faction Mods were placed in the wrong part of the script? They Should have been placed under the Red Faction choice and been conditional upon the game being available. Although this would leave 2 open spots requiring a renameing of all game files.
Thanx... I've download it but I got extracting problem.... hang when I want to extract it...?
I have re-downloaded it and did not experiance any issues on any of my machines? What are you extracting the file with? which file are you having trouble with? I really need more info?
Can any one else verify?
Here are the Red Faction Mods referanced in the install:
First Up is Blue Faction versions 2 and 3 and Green Faction versions 1 and 2 already in the 7z package.
Just extract to your games directory.

The double post was unnessasary.
I can assure it is not a virus. If you still feel unsecure just delete the 000s-Symboot.zip. The installer don't care if installed. Symboot only allows for an easier way to reboot the n-gage.
If you read the readme you would have known to disable all virus software before running the start.cmd. Virus Scanners will dramatically slow down a script of this size.
bambotcha 2nd March 2007, 21:21 does it work with 3rd edition phones(symbian 9.1)???
