I'd have a go with PSP because it has a GREAT display and excellent graphics and i think it will have better games. But since i don't own any of them I can't say for sure.

thing i like about ngage is i dont have to pay for the games (but if i really like them i do buy them) with ds i think they will have the roms to download and u buy the blank cartrages and transfer them accross like the gba. other thing i didnt like about the ds is no mp3 or movie functions but seeing that nintendo have brought out a like card reader for the ds that can use the sd cards to play movies and mp3. so with these features i think it will be better than psp and ds is more like a pda

hey my brother just got his ds 2day and its pretty impresive. nice graphics on metroid prime and mario. 2 screens is good touch screen is good and bonus features like wireless messaging and pico chat is great. but its pretty chunky and i thought my qd was a brick even the origional ngage looks anerxic compared 2 the ds, but the psp is pretty chunky as well with crap battery life
so i think the ds is an excellent handheld console to say the least.
but price i know its only cheap but for $200 illd rather an xbox

PSP is a proper gameing machine cum PE whereas Ngage Qd is phone cum gameing machine cum PIM cum recorder cum PE cum 3rd party supported software. If you want good graphics go for ngage 3 or 2 ( Call what you may ) which is going to be realeased the fall of this year......!!!!!!! My PSP crashed after i used a 3rd party software

I think that PSP is better. It has bigger screen and great graphic. And i think that better games will be realesed for PSP (Need For Speed underground, Gran Turismo, Grand theft auto...) :D :D :D

although the nintendo ds is cheap and has a dual screen i would still go in for the sony PSP. the reasons being the features it offers . an inbuilt graphics card , excellent microprocessor and the ability to read both memory stick and UMd discs. and also each .the only thing being that sony has made the UMD discs high on security and virtually uncrackable ..and thus dont expect any cracked games in the market. also as of now users cannot write their own umd discs ....which hopefully will change in the future. otherwise ...this is one hell of a mean machine !!

Well i would say PSP would have more titles then DS or Ngage so wat would you prefer more games or better functions. Not to mention that Psp too has better functions and obviously more games like the PS2!! Now let X-BOX they already having tough competition even with HALO series on their side!!! So at the end of the day i would stick to sony!!!

but u guys have to remember that the psp doesnt have a camera and is not a gsm mobile phone . how i wish sony had developed the perfect plaything by including these two features too. then it'd surely be a huge seller...like the ipod !!

I'm A HUGE NINTENDO FAN... nothing no-one can say will change that. Nintendo really supports their products and you can always count on the fact that it will have some quality games.
Nintendo Ds seems great with dual screen capability, I only hope they actually use this to full potential.

PSP looks SEXY... like the design and screen a lot and also like the upcoming games. Battery life really puts me down though.

I'd buy psp for 1 reason. FINAL FANTASY
Final fantasy advent children will be on it and possibly ff7: before crisis...

I own a N-Gage and a Nintendo DS.
When the PSP will arrive over here I probably Buy it too :)
Why the PSP and Ds ?
I like Mario,Zelda, metroid games but you wont find them on the PSP.
I like Grand theft auto , Grand tourismo and so on.....but i wont find them on the DS.
So both Sysrems for dubble the fun. :)

the thing i love most about the ds is the touch screen any 1 who has played the mario ds minigames would agree, this function i reckon makes the ds more fun than the psp, psp is sexy but has **** all batterylife and is pretty chunky. 3 hours is not good battery life nomatter what any 1 says whaere on the ds it says 10 hours attery life i have played mine for a whole week without charging it which is probaly 15 hours, and yes the games are my favrioute yes they r for kids but i like the mario, metroid and zelda games, GTA is pretty weak graphics wise on pc so what is it gunna look like on PSP? i am a nintendo person eva since the good old game boy, and have been ripped on by friends at school for not getting an xbox or PS2 instead i chose game cube for games like metroid and resident evil, and since the release of resident evil 4 (the best game eva :-) ) they all have either bought or asked to borrow my cube, so go nintendo!

kikomanexe
16th April 2005, 08:09
i own a nintendo ds and yeah its chunky.. but the psp is chunkier.. when we say portability, its not only talking about the size, but what important is the battery life.. thats why we called it portable, we can bring it anywhere, fir it to anything, and play with it in a long period of time.. and i guess the PSP came short with its crap battery life.. Nintendo has been in the handheld industry for over 15 years now, and i think they know handheld better than anyone else.. but there's room for improvement in the PSP, and yes it has a potential, but we're talking about innovations here, touchscreen was a very good idea for the DS.. the PSP is just a sized down PS2 so there's nothing to be excited about except if you're a big PS2 fan (which i am by the way).. and the DS can play GBA games so with the DS, you're getting the best of both worlds.. PSP is good, but i think once the DS games gets released, it will be the other way around.. PERIOD..

Mark
19th April 2005, 01:09
i think the psp is the coolest of them all. i certainly would rather have a psp or ds for a ngage just to play games because i have my 6600 for everything else
however i would choose psp over ds not only because it looks cooler it also allows to do other stuff like listening to music and the screen quality is just amazing.

kikomanexe
19th April 2005, 23:24
i bought my own DS because i think it will win over sony's PSP.. i read in some websites that compared the two next-gen handhelds, the PSP won over the DS in support of publishers and games release.. but when it comes to hardware issues, PSP has some major disturbing flaws, especially its crap battery life (someone even testified that the PSP lasted for only 90 minutes! that's worse than my gamegear!!) one question only came to mind.. yea we all know that the DS can play GBA games, but there is no GBA link cable port.. they have released a device that will be put into your GBA and it will allow to connect to other GBA's wirelessly.. now with this device on the GBA, can it enable playing multiplayer games with the DS since it has wireless features?

Psp is the best portable console that has been made.. Its a fresh awsome quality console.. worth having one.

Mark
20th April 2005, 00:06
kikomanexe i never noticed that about psp. the battery life only lasts for 90 minutes? :?
that is a real point against psp but even so i think psp will have better games than ds like it always has been over the years with playstation and nintendo. playstation is always better :D so i would still buy a psp.

evlspcmk
21st April 2005, 02:40
the thing is right from the beggining sony have over exadurated the PSP they said that it was more powerfull than a PS2 they lied its only a bit more powerful than a PS1 and that is shocking 90mins battery life what a load of crap and theres all these other flaws on it. sony really needs to fix this up fast.

but on the other hand the DS is going great no flaws or anything great battery life ive gotten 15hours outta mine so im pretty bloody happy with it try getting 15 hours on a PSP with out leaving it on the charger.

evlspcmk

@ mark 6600
the only reason that the PS2 was so popular was that it was released 1st out of all the new consoles if the xbox was released 1st then it would have won same thing for nintendo.

Mark
21st April 2005, 15:25
maybe its not just that evlspcmk . maybe its because the ps one was very famous around the world because it used cds that could be burned :) instead of nintendo that didnīused them. people thought that if ps one was so good the ps2 had to be the best and in my opinion ps2 is the best console on the market but its a personal opinion.

evlspcmk
21st April 2005, 17:22
lol yea i gotta giv u that 1 it was good to have a chipped ps1 i just went to the video store and hired and burnt them so yea ur right on that mark6600 but its also who came out 1counts as well the DS had a record launch here in australia evn though nintendo dosnt care about us here in AUS but us aussies r just so impatient

kikomanexe
22nd April 2005, 18:45
ei evlspcmk.. have u tried connecting ur DS to a GBA via the wireless thing that is popped into the GBA? feedback is needed asap.. and by the way, i also love the PS2 because of dragonballZ budokai 3, but when it comes to handheld gaming, Nintendo is the champ because they know how to make a handheld.. they know what gamers want and they even try new and innovative things.. there's nothing special about the PSP except its just a toned down PS2 with this silly multimedia features but that's all.. but the DS has 2 screens and a touchscreen means u can interact with ur games.. and also, future DS games will require voice commands via the DS built-in Mic! now that is what innovation is all about!

jpasakura
22nd April 2005, 19:00
i think psp would be my pick since i like playing sony playstation 2 games and some would be ported to PSP so my games will be ready to go on the road with me... :)

Mark
22nd April 2005, 21:50
evlspcmk thats right you see the ability to burn the games is possibly the most important thing on gaming devices today :) but off-course good quality games and the latest technology inovations as kikomanexe said also make an important role on the gamming industry.
*jpasakura i donīt know if this is what you meant but you canīt actually take your ps2 games and put then on psp because psp uses minidiscs not cds and thats one of pspīs biggest setbacks in my opinion

evlspcmk
24th April 2005, 07:52
@ kikomanexe no havnt tried that wireless adapter thing on my old gba with ds coz i neva had the need to buy one. so im not really the guy to ask on that question i gave up on buying gba games when i found out i could dwnload and play them on pc.
yea also i got warioware a few days back and it makes good uses out of the touch screen and miropone its pretty cool but that microphone has some real potential besides the virtual harmonica on wario lol. i would like to see a rainbow 6 game or something that uses voice commands on it. and even on the upcomming zelda remake the ocarina of time i we might actually get to play the ocanena , that would be cool, but a game like donkey konga on the ds using the touch screen and the mic i think that would be an instant calssic, but im still not ruling out buying a PSP when it hits australia but in my opinion touchscreen and mic gives the ds more potential over the PSP which is full of bugs

evlspcmk
8th May 2005, 07:25
thing is the PSP only has like 90mins battery life also so its not like can take it on a long trip without a charger, my ngage qd is great for long trips last week was my school camp it was 7.5 hours long i brought my ngage and a portable dvd player, the dvd playa lasted 2.5 hours then it was ngage for the rest of the trip and after the trip finished i still had 1/3 battery left, so in my opinion PSP is not very portable and very expencive for what it does. my point if u have to play it while its conected to a charger for long periods of time why not just buy an xbox and modify it coz even that option will turn out cheaper

kikomanexe
8th May 2005, 08:46
the PSP will run at most of 5 hours MAX.. and that 90mins battery life was true according to a website that compared the two systems (and mind you, it was a very informative webpage).. but still, 5 hours playing time is not good for a portable, and even lesser number of hours if you use the multimedia thingy of the PSP.. (2.5 hours if you watched movies with it).. the only good thing about the PSP is that some PS2 games will be ported to the PSP, but that's just about it.. if you want a "portable" mp3 player, get an I-Pod instead.. the DS may have a poor line-up now, but knowing Nintendo, they will never give-up the handheld wars in which they ruled for over 15 years.. by the way, need for speed underground 2 was already confirmed for the DS and i think it will be out by next month.. and it will be released to the PSP too..

ajai_dev
8th May 2005, 10:42
PSP is an extreme machine DS does not have the power, speed or graphic"s to get on PSP"s bad side only ngage 2 can have a true war with PSP fr now PSP the king.........

14th May 2005, 12:15
the psp is slimmer and cooler looking than the bulky ds. Also the graphics of the psp is unbelievable! Fast frame rates and graphics 4x better than the ds. Also, the sony psp will have a greater lineup of games such as:
- Halo
- Need For Speed: Undergroumd
- Metal Gear Solid
- Splintercell
- NBA Live 2006
- Final Fantasy 7-9 (ported from PSOne) as well as a new Final Fantasy game specifically made for the psp.

And nintendo ds is stuck with crap games like Pokemon and Tetris.

Tried out the PSP this week and it's like comparing a Porsche to a Go-Cart! The PSP is unbelievable. Games look incredible and play flawlessly but the real clincher for me was the Movie playing quality. I have four DVD players at home and none of them compare the the crystal clear PSP. I can't purchase one quickly enough.

I prefer the PSP over the DS. Mainly because you know what you're getting with the PSP. A playstation 2 in your pocket. With the DS its an unknown. It could be good, or it could suck if there's no innovative software. Warioware touched got old in 2 days.

The VOIP solution for DS looked cool. But does the DS connect to standard 802.11b networks?

Choices, choices ....

Just a story to share. Ppl ard me have been comparing phones with cameras and videos when they first came out. I asked them.. how often do you use them anyways. In the end, the phone's gonnna be used for making calls and smsing.. basically that's it..

But then came the ngage... now, that's something else cos u can kill time (waiting for girlfrends or something) and it's so practical with the phone and all. The mp3s are a bonus, the games you can easily get and there's lots and lots of support for them..

As for the PSP and DS, they are not in the same comparison group as the ngage. Firstly, no phone function... It's basically a game/entertainment console.

Price wise, the PSP SHOULD be better cos it costs so much more than the DS. It's like comparing a SEGA genesis and an XBOX.

To me, ngage's the best of both worlds and I have not grown tuired of it. I've tried the PSP, loved it but practical and money wise, not my cup of tea.

Hope the new batch of ngage can push the limit further....

Not seen of the gameany micro yet mate ! We still await sony psp in the uk ! Its released 1st week of september at Ģ179 ... Wont be getting one but girlfriends brother pre-ordered his so will try that once its finally out here :-) the nintendo ds been out a while but in my opinion is a load of old rubbish ! Bad graphics etc etc nothing new on the technical front either just old console in a smaller case ! No doubt psp will sweep the board here and all stocks for release day are already sold out ! Nothing like that could have been said about the ds !

16th September 2005, 14:27
It may no be doing so good over their but DS is infact the prefered handheld, The DS definatly lacks in the graphics but the technology is far ahead of the psp, psp is nothing more then a minatured PS2 and the cost over here is double a ps2, whilest the DS has newer technology with each release.

DS also has the unique titles where as PS2 has anything that comes out.

"The DS is ahead even more significantly in software terms, with 23 per cent of DS owners claiming to own more than six titles for their console, compared to just 11 per cent of PSP owners."

"Overall sales of the two consoles see the Nintendo DS with an 800,000 unit lead over its rival, with 2.4 million units sold as against 1.6 million units of the PSP according to Screen Digest figures."

"Those figures are borne out by the overall sales of DS and PSP software in Japan to date, with WarioWare Touched selling 740,000 units, Super Mario 64 DS selling 710,000 units and Nintendogs currently on around 400,000 units and rising - while the best-selling PSP game remains Hot Shots Golf with 350,000 unit sales."

It all comes down to the price, and DS is the cheaper option, alot of people prefer PSP but how much of them actually own one?

About 200 MB. Some of them are even smaller. Only couple of them are really big, about 500-800 MB.

after playing both consoles i think the PSP is nothing new. its hard to play and has **** battery life, although i do like the screen when there is no dead pixels and is really expensive. i know a guy who has bought the PSP ova a year ago and hasnt got a game for it yet lol..... the DS may not have the graphical advantage but its got a great feel to it. touch screen is great and really fun cant eait to get a flash card so i can just download the games and play

Well, my vote is absolutely for PSP. I had one but i already selled it because i have no time to play. But it's really a piece of art and it's a joy to play games like PES5, F1GP, NFS, etc.

PSP every time.
I've owned both, but returned the DS, as I found it had become an expensive paperweight, and that I took the PSP with me far more often.

I like the PSP because it's much 'neater' than the DS, great for watching films on, *and* if you get a 1.5 or 2.0 version firmware, will play all the homebrew you can handle.

Also I see that there are workarounds for most of the higher firmwares if you've got the GTA game.

My only complaint would be the load times, although with the fastloader (where it copies the disk onto the memory card), this problem can be circumvented!

DS games are better.
If you want a PVR/MP3 player etc get an archos they have a 20 gig drive which is much better than messing around with flash disks. UMF movies are too expensive.

Only problem with DS is its lack of support for WPA.

There a no good PSP games. Sony is no innovator they just copy Nintendo's ideas. I suppose by the fact that you say DS's are for kids that you are a kid. Most of the people I know with DS's are not kid's (whereas the only people I know with PSP's are kids).

Sony is evil (As the rootkit incident proves).

The only use I would have for a PSP would be running a SNES or MAME emulator.

I like the DS for games and innovation. PSP is good for a portable multimedia machine plus it boasts excellent graphics and has some good exclusive games. But for overall gaming, I'd go for a DS.

PSP of course. Firts because it's SONY. I'm not spamming and I'm not saying that Sony is the best! But companies as sega, nintendo had products in the past that hadn't the support sony has. We have seen that Sony supports its consoles for a long time. I want to have a console and I know that I will be able to play a lot of new games for a long time. Second because its graphics are imazing! With a PSP you can do a lot of things using homebrew progs.

even if i own the ngage
but i will pick psp...

graphic is so cool (better then DS)

I think S'pore will be cheaper.... ard 300+ so if you're living near S'pore, why not make a stop and buy it?

Well i use a PSP and N-Gage, and i will just steal my sisters DS when she gets it for X-Mas...

Its a hard decision, as PSP is great for graphics, DS is great for interactive stuff (ie the touchscreen pad) and the n-gage is a phone as well...

i chose n-gage for no reason really...

NDS advantages:
-Stylus, for great interface when playing Wii-like games.
-Dual Screen (though I consider not this an advantage as it is rather pointless having two screens instead of a large one like that of the PSP)

PSP advantages:
-Superb graphics
-Web browsing with WiFi
-Multimedia functions
-Add-on camera

However, we must take note also of the undeniable fact that when in comes to comparing game consoles, it is usually, if not always, from a GAMER's point of view, in which case, such user-friendly, stylus-using games on the NDS are deemed lame or otherwise a desperate attempt for innovation. The PSP on the other hand, offers richer, albeit traditional gameplay experience; but then again, is the traditional analogue control not what we want and have become so accustomed to? Plus, the PSP also boast an arsenal of highly playable games like Final Fantasy and God of War
among others, all of which easily outshine any NDS game; usually NDS games require preinstilled interest in the game before playing. This is especially exemplified by the game Nintendogs. Non dog lovers would hardly find this manifestation of Nintendo's "greatness" appealing, rather it is only played by canine enthusiasts.

Conclusion:
The PSP wins hands down.

I love my nintendo Ds with R4SDHC + 4gig Memry and Supercard Micro + 2gig Memory.

The game size is much smaller compare to the PSP thats why i can put lots of games.
