View Full Version : Flash 6630 with Phoenix without Dongle
Muffin 17th January 2005, 02:01 Hi,
If I understand it correctly, the 6630 (RM-1) can be flashed using the dku-2 usb cable, and Phoenix 2004.39.7.70 or later.
I have this cable and software and the most current RM-1 firmware (RM-1_dp_v_3.0_MCUSW3.0445111_EURO)
Phoenix will not install without a dongle - is there any fix available to get this to install without needing to purchase additional hardware?
Thanks!

FolkenFanel 1st March 2005, 14:11 Does no one have a fix for the dongle problem??
leosedf 1st March 2005, 23:16 Guys.
There is no way you can flash a 6630 whithout a PKD-1.
It's the protection from phoenix software.
You WONT find a crack for the latest phoenix and if you do find one IT WILL NOT WORK.
You just have to find a PKD-1 dongle (clone or original) and install it on your LPT port.
That's it
BenLee20 6th March 2005, 02:51 can i install the phoenix if i have Twister Box installed ?
thanks
Ben
jusluke 6th March 2005, 03:14 can i install the phoenix if i have Twister Box installed ?
thanks
Ben
No you can't. Twister just uses the same directory structure as phoenix but can't be used as emulator of PKD-1. Sorry
n00b_fr33k 6th March 2005, 09:35 just found a link that you can flash 6630 through dku-2. then again neevr tried it. but certainly will do it if more people confirm that you can;-)
dzeuk 6th March 2005, 09:55 yo man. where's the link then?
n00b_fr33k 6th March 2005, 10:55 heres the link sorry about that: h**p://209.152.184.107/viewtopic.php?t=22991&start=15
you need to scroll down a bit to see that a dku-2 is enough to flash n6630.
seems like the phoenix software (a15) only includes dk2 (or something) drivers. maybe thats why its not detecting the dku-2 dongle but not really sure. im not an expert on this just to let you know. ;-)
hope somebody is working on this problem.
dzeuk 6th March 2005, 15:20 gave up on that. so i just took my phone to a nokia care center and flashed it for free 'coz if warranty.
2.39.15 - - 3.45.113
there were some noticeable improvements, though camera still sucks at minimal lighting conditions. dang...
n00b_fr33k 7th March 2005, 11:40 my research update!
seems like most of the software available for now requires a dongle to be present when installing or before a software starts up (eg. phoenix and wintesla).
if the requirements of having a dongle present is removed, flashing 6630 will be easier for everybody without having to buy expensive dongles and flashing apps/devices.
for now, nokia care center is the only option to do it.
but im still hoping that home flashing without these expensive devices will be available for the consumers. as we all know, nokia 6630 is one of the first phone from nokia that you can flash using your regular usb data cable.
so anybody got a crack on how to bypass dongles? i know it would be close to impossible. but i hope somebody in there is working on a work around.
:-)

kolovodza 19th September 2005, 04:19 So there is no way to flash without a dongle?
fireboud 29th September 2005, 00:33 thank you
Sene 13th October 2005, 01:45 You need a dongle for it although it can be flashed via usb because of the ADLloader. Same as the 6680. Just flashed mine with JAF (great box by the way). 6630 with fbus and 6680 with usb. The software of jaf is pretty similar to phoenix although much simpler. But does the same thing. If you are familiar to using Phoenix jaf is a piece of cake.
