View Full Version : Card Scanner Full
paramonline 28th January 2005, 21:55 Hi all this a s/w called CardScanner you can input phone numbers from business cards or advertisement boards by just taking pictures of those numbers. The phone numbers are automatically extracted from the pictures and you can directly dial a number or send a message to this number. You can also add the extracted phone number into your contacts.
You can see the viewfinder and the benchmark line, which show you the image of phone numbers to be captured.
Make sure that the benchmark line is floated on the phone number to be recognized and try to adjust the phone camera to ensure the phone number is moved to the middle part of the benchmark line.
After the adjustment of the phone camera position, press Option->Recognize or down of the Navi-Key to start the recognition.
The recognized phone number is displayed on the edit box. You can check the phone number and correct it if necessary. You can also press Retry to discard the current number and restart capture procedure.
Press Select to select operations: Dialling, Add to Contacts and Write Message.
Note:
(1). Make sure to capture phone number pictures according to the focus of the macro lens, i.e., 5 cm.
(2). Do not open other applications that use the Camera when the CardScanner is running.

KRRacing 1st February 2005, 08:31 Try this!!
ErnestoII 1st February 2005, 08:56 I use FExplorer 1.11 (Options\Tools\Turn ScreenShot ON/OFF) --> 'pencil' + '0' to capture.
KRRacing 4th February 2005, 11:24 Card Scanner is not compatible with my SX1. Any SX1 users managed to make it work?
stuestue 4th February 2005, 18:50 Anybody who manages to use this aspp? I'm trying to scan numbers with my 6630, but it never recognises any numbers. From time to time it suggests something wrong.
What do I do wrong?

carlx 22nd March 2006, 20:19 its like OCR on you pc when you use a scanner to say transfer a letter and then edit it on your pc sometime it just dosen't work but if you keep trying you can still get good result.

thanks for d share.
carlx 23rd March 2006, 09:17 i argee with ronitvohra the smartphone is the way to why carry 3 or 4 gadets when my phone can play all the music i need play games play videos, and with apps like this scan as well (i have by the way a 1gm card which costs less than £40)
Cjosul 26th May 2006, 17:53 I read here that on 6630 this app isn't working since the recognition isn't valid.
But on the other phones? If it's like barcode one the pic should be softened but why?
Maybe it's a sort of interpolation? Like when taking pictures, the images are softened but once the shutter has been pressed and a few time of processing, the image appears sharper than before.
What to do? Only hope in new improved software versions? :(
