Active Desk is the ideal solution to personalise and customise your Nokia 7610/6600/36x0 & SX1 imaging phone. The application allows you to fully customise the display - including choosing wallpapers (“skins”), text colours, and operator logos. Active Desk provides five information rich, full featured, customisable views of the key information stored on your Nokia 7610/6600/36x0 & SX1, including calendar entries, to-dos and messages. The combination of customisation and personalisation makes Active Desk the essential add-on for the Nokia 7610/6600/36x0 & SX1. Active Desk now allows you to download themes from our website, or to send your own theme to us for publication or to a friend.

Active Desk takes personalisation to a new level. Capture the moment with the built-in camera, and immediately use the images as a wallpaper in Active Desk. A different wallpaper can be set for each of the 5 views provided by the application, increasing the level of personalisation possible. You can even configure Active Desk to play a sound file during startup of your Nokia phone. Your phone's core functionality such as missed calls and missed messages continue to pop up using Active Desk.

Active Desk is fully integrated with the Nokia Series 60 phone, and uses the Menu key for navigation and task (application) switching. It also fully supports the memory card.

Navigation:

Active Desk is fully integrated with the phone, and acts as a third “home” application. After the installation of Active Desk, the Menu key will switch between Active Desk, the Phone application, and the Menu application. This effectively keeps all your key information and primary functionality one key press away.

Task Switcher:

Active Desk introduces an enhanced task switcher to the phone The utility is invoked by pressing and holding the Menu key (), and displays a list of the applications currently running on the phone.

In addition to the ability to switch between running applications, the Active Desk Task Switcher provides the following features:

A report of the total free memory (RAM) available on the device.

A report of the disk storage free on the device.

The amount of RAM being used by each running application, with a report of any special status a running application may have.

The ability to close running applications.

Home View:

The Active Desk home page provides a summary view of all the information presented in the different views. The view also allows you to create new messages (MMS, SMS or e-mail), new agenda entries (meetings, day memos, anniversaries and to-dos) and initiate phone calls. If you have a meeting today, the next meeting today will now show on the home view.

Active Desk allows you to configure the right soft command key available in the view – you can configure this button to launch any application installed on the device. The addition of a clock, battery metre, and other indicators allow you to use this view for all important information. Your Missed Calls and New Messages notifications will also now pop up directly into Active Desk.

The selection of applications to start automatically at device reset and the selection of the sound file to play at device startup are done through this view.

You can also lock your phone by pressing 'Options' followed by the * key to lock and unlock your phone in the same way as on the Nokia phone page.

Calendar:

This view presents a consolidated view of the upcoming calendar events (meetings, day memos, and anniversaries) in a clear easy-to-use view. The number of days presented in the view is configurable. You can also create, view, edit, and delete calendar entries directly from Active Desk.

To-Do Lists:

The Active Desk to-do functionality improves greatly on the very basic in-built to-do application that is pre-packaged with the Nokia Series 60. Active Desk provides support for to-do lists, with the ability to filter the view by to-do list, ‘done’ status, and due date. To-dos can also be sorted by a number of parameters including due date and priority.

Active Desk also provides a purging feature, where you can delete all ‘done’ to-dos through a single command.

Messages:

The Messages view provides a summary view of the state of the messaging inbox, e-mail accounts and other key messaging folders, and links directly into these folders. Message counts are reported by message type with new messages emphasised.

New message can be created through the Messages view. All message types are supported including MMS, SMS, and e-mail.

Favourites:

The Active Desk Favourites allows you to create links to frequently used applications so that they are conveniently available from within the Active Desk application. The list of links can be ordered as required. Active Desk Favourites integrates with the Nokia Favourites application to provide easy access to shortcuts to specific documents, multi-media files, and on-line pages.
