Btw, there used to be an application for doing this, like Yahoo POP3 or something., just google it.

I confirmed with yahoo, pop3 can not be activated unless its a yahoo plus account, hence im stuck with opening yahoo if i intend to use it, or else buy a plus account. thanks for the help

Just an idea, but you can try to forward your messages to, for example, a Hotmail account and setup that Hotmail account in Outlook instead.
I just checked that if you click on Options at the top, right corner of the Yahoo mail page (least that is where it is on my page setup) > Click More Options > POP and Forwarding there is an option to forward messages but I don't know if that will work for you. Never tried it but surely wouldn't hurt to do so? :p
Edit: Nevermind, just tried to test it and noticed that mail forwarding is also a Plus feature, but at $19.99 a year that ain't a bad price to pay really.
