and also,to add on... are you aware that there are applications that can enhance 6600's picture quality ...not sure about 7610.

i have a 6630 and its so good...da cam quality is very excellent..i can post sum pics if uwant me 2....
i can give u a tip for snapin pix.....Snap pictures using the the left selection key as it would not move the mobile while u snap...da quality is beautiful....snapping pictures in white lite is more preferable.

I took a lot of pictures under the same condition. Picture taken by 7610 is brighter and sharper than 6630. I sent the 2 pictures to all my friends for judgement without labeling the picture as 7610 or 6630. All agreed 7610 pictures taken is better when view in PC.

i think 6630 still has some bugs left to rectify not only firmware problems such as pallette color unchangeable but alos some hardware problems

so those who havnt brought the 6630 yet like me and are thinking of gettin one just wait for a month or two for the problems to ger rectifyied then go in for it and the ones who have awready own one just try askin ur nokia care center for help with the problem :)

i dont agree with johnny skf. i tested both the cameras for 7610 and 6630. overall 6630 is better but if u zoom in full in 6630 it does get a bit blurry but not that u cannot see the picture at all.

from the pic i uploaded above, u can see that the colour of the orchid is blue!
do u all know what is the real colour of the orchid?
it's red! how come it became blue after i had captured it with 6630 camera?

the colour of the pictures which are by captured 6630 camera is different from the real one!

johnny_skf

the other thing is 6630 has not more than 8mb RAM (empty rsmmc without any softwares installed), although it has 20mb RAM (showed by seleq v1.70)

can u imagine how much RAM will left after u installed softwares in 6630?

Why dont you just go to a Nokia Care center and tell them all your problems cuz if the problem is hardware related of even firmware related nokia should do the neatful for you for free may b they may even exchange your handset if itz under warrenty

I own both 7610 and 6630 I have absolutely gotta side with 6630 for its superiority in quality...

Lotsa factors to take note really..
Setting.. (duh)
Hand movement when taking a shot... (keep it still now)

Most importantly.. If u wanna compare image quality..
Do upload it on your pc and you can distinctively see the difference in quality.

Cheers.

For my case, I compare it with 7610 and 6630, at the same location, same place, same angle of taking pic. 7610 picture is sharper and brighter. Try if u have these 2 phones with u n u will see the differences...

Totally agreeable that 7610/6670 camera is better than 6630 in terms of taking still images. But notice 6630 video cam is far off better than 7610/6670 ? Reason being a so call 3G phone, 6630 has a different encoder/decoder in that those of 7610/6670. 7610/6670 is fast and sharp when taking still images and the integrated ware inside the phone does alot of filtering and rendering. If you notice, when taking pictures using 7610/6670, at the moment of pressing the "Shoot" button till it display what you have shoot, the time comparison is longer than 6630 which would display what you have shoot in like just a second? 6630 has lesser filtering and rendering elements inside the phone and that is why pictures taken are not as sharp as 7610/6670. And vice versa, having all the imaging data going thru less processes on 6630, that is why the video camera is so much faster and less jerky (in fact not much of a jerk) than 7610/6670. The imaging data packet transfer of 7610/6670 have to go thru more processes which in return gives you the jerky output after you have taken it. Maybe not many will understand this theory but hardware engineers/programmers should know this well. Personally I'm a engineer working for Sony Enterprise, this are the things I've been working on daily. Hope its useful to all.

i think u all must use the same size to compare like 640x480 not use the 1280x960, coz all picture size is totally difference.

another thing is the quality setting.....basic,normal or high?

shamnemesis
13th March 2005, 13:26
You have to be noticed about the difference...

1) not because of the camera quality it's self but the LCD also can cause the clarity and quality of the images .

2) even me i take 3 6600 handphones at the same time to compare the images taken by the 3 6600 phones ..it was totally diffenrent ...

3)i guess this is because of the improper storage of nokia because it's officially released ...

After taking some landscape, close up and potrait. Found that my 6630 is slighly sharper compare to my brother 6670. Uploaded to the computer screen to compare also. Having so many different opinion on the 6630 camera could it be from different manufacturer have different quality for the phone camera.

Lighting and staying still when taking photo is very important especially in low light condition. Activate night mode when in dark area. It help to take clearer and sharper images.

the colour of the pictures which are by captured 6630 camera is different from the real one!

first of all, this is very easy to explain, it has nothing to do with your camera. The UV light from the SUN reacts to a particular chemical in the red orchids, and releases a particular frequency of light. We see this light as red, but the camera doesn't pick this up, so misinterprets the color. This is also true if you have one of those Glass Stove Things:

[Only registered and activated users can see links]

If you turn it on High, the stove should glow red, its very hot. However, if you look at it through your Nokia 6630 camera, its bright blue.

Frankly, the Image and Video Quality of the Nokia 7610 is not that bad. Its comparable to my Nokia 6680.

Below is a video i took with my bro's 7610.

my 6630 version is V3.45.111 08.12.04 the latest one!

I doubt that, latest version out is V 3.45.113 04-01-05 RM-1

I heard rumours about a new 6630 firmware release comin' out real soon... anyway I don't think image quality can depend so much on software version, don't forget that camera is an hardware component!!!
I'm a little disappointed by pics taken in nighttime, but if you buy an add-on called Camera Flash you will surely notice the difference in quality. Anyway, hope my next Symbian phone (6680! ) will at least fill part of this lacks...

The picture quality also depends largely upon the resolution. If you guys cpmpare 6600, 7610/6670 and 6630, all the phones supports different resolution and pic size. So if you click a picture wit h6600 it give you 640x480 and 6630 gives you 1280x960, bigger the image more picture noise it will have. So 6630 will give you better results if you use it in good light conditions where as 6600 can give good results even in candle light.
Try a simple procedure. use your Digital camera without the flash and seewhat you get. You'll be surprised how blur the pic can be.
So far 6630 rocks and its the best camera phone in the market.

All i can say is that 6630 camera is better than 6600 and 7610 camera its 1.3 megapixel duh??? and i test it on good ligt conditions and its really good. but yet the problem is when in low light conditions it will be grainy picture... but what the heck buy yourself a flash for nokia 6630

Well i do agree the 6630 camera is blur but once you switch to night mode its very clear!! It has nothing to do with firmware its gonna be blurred even if u get the latest version!!! And 2.39 was the best firmware because it played mp3s louder and i have upgraded to 3.45.113 but its not good!! It slows the phones speed dramatically!!! The other thing is when you switch to a lower resolution like 640x480 the pictures are clear but once u switch to 1280x960 they are not good!! And no point in taking it to the nokia center they'll say the camera is how its supposed to be!!

Oh, come on man, i've done the same comparison before. the pictures from 7610 just look sharper and better on the screen of the phone. 6630 is the clear winner when the taken pictures are viewed in a computer....

7610 pics are sharper than 6630.
but the quality of 6630 is good

punjabi_munda
30th January 2006, 21:14
I've compared pics...and the 6630 (with the latest firmware) really has a wonderful camera, possibly only comparable to the s700i. The 7610 on the other hand yields images somewhat lacking in brightness as well as sharpness when compared to the former. Moreover, they have this blueish tinge which seems rather queer. So it's not just a matter of 'being 0.3MP more' than the 7610...the faster processor on the 6630 makes use of better algorithms for photos...hence, the better quality. Just my 2 cents.

JF-GINO
30th January 2006, 21:22
I agree with aryan.
My 6630 is only clear in optimal lighing conditions.
In low light, it suffers major 'NOISE'. The picture becomes very fuzzy and noisy. Its almost unbareable. I hear that firmware updates do solve some of these problems but Im at a loss since there are not true Nokia dealers here in Toronto CA. Only the cellphone providers offer firmware upgrades and my phone is not even offered by any of my providers so I guess ill have to find someone who can do it privatly.

This photos are taken by 6630. Do you think are so bad? I think no...you have only to be able to shoot with static hand and with a little trick for night photo's. Just turn on night mode. Take a photo and delete it with "C" key. Now you have to shoot your photo just few second before light turn to maximum value. Try it yourself.

You can do this only if macro mode is supported. And 6630 hasn't macro mode. Try with a lens behind text

when u say macro mode what do u mean?and is there any way to make the phone support this?

ItalBoy
1st February 2006, 00:03
Well, in general the digital camera macro mode allows a digital camera to photograph close-up pictures of petite objects like flowers, insects, coins, etc. Macro mode potentiality vary from camera to camera but almost all digital cameras offer this exclusive feature to enable the users to have good quality on close-up object.
for example SE k750i/w800i, sharp 902/903, nokia N90, motorola V3x and LG 7200 have macro mode. The only way to have macro mode on nokia 6630 is to put a "Magnifying eyepiece" in the middle from object and camera lens.
