I'm a new user for N-Gage QD. I'm very thankul to you all because I able to get and solve most of my problems in this forum.

I have some problem and hope you all able to help me. Currently I'm looking to application that can block someone from dialing to me. I tested Advance Call Manager but it doesn't cannot work in my QD>> :(

I set a template to deny someone to call me and when that person call me it show ADVANCE CALL MANAGER APP CLOSED and my phone started to ring.

I did tested with blacklist software but it can't work too. When I run it gave me error message. :(

Beside that when I play games like Ashault and KOF, the game will slow / not smooth. Currently I'm using RS MMC card (512MB) and left 18MB free space. I did move out all my data in my RS MMC card and out it back in my memory card but still the same... :(

try upgrading ur firmware . press *#0000# and check what version u have . the latest is v4.10 . get it upgraded at the nokia dealer.

My QD current version 03.15 (27-04-2004 / RH-29). Is the any place that I can download the latest version firmware because I want to try to do it myself.

hey jclio ..you can download the latest firmware from the forum itself. all the flash files are posted here. but a word of caution... plz dont try and do it yourself unless you have the required hardware and knowledge. you will need a flasher box..and u can buy one from iphone. i would recommend u tell some experienced flasher to upgrade ur s/w..rather than do it yourself .

May I know what's the different latest version QD firmware with my current version firmware and will it solve all my problems ?

i am not saying for sure that an update will solve ur problems. but maybe it could be the reason ur software is crashing or ur phone is slow.are you sure you are using the right software versions ? i.e software versions made for nokia 3650,7650,ngage etc..and not software versions made for 7610,6600 etc ..coz they are both different. you can even try to hard reset ur phone to see if it makes any difference.but be warned ..all your phone memory data will be erased and the phone will be reset to the factory condition.the code is *#7370#. but remember to backup ur phone memory data before doing so. also remember to remove ur memory card before resetting.

If I upgrade my QD firmware will all my phone data will be removed?

I tried to backup my phone memory data but it show 5 files unable to backup. Will it cause my phone data lost ?

yes !! ifu upgrade ur qd the phone memory data will be lost..but you can restore it if you have a backup on your memory card or on your n-gage qd datasuite. the 5 files unable to backup warning is probably because some applications are in use at the time of backup. restart your phone and close any applications that run on phone startup. dont think the 5 files will make any significant difference. could you list them out here ??

When I run backup it show me this error App. closed AppArcServerThread -> only left Ok button to press.

It didn't show me which files are not been backup.

I tried to reset to factory default (*#7370#) but it didn't erase my data. Only date, time and profiles been reset and the rest still remain the same.

yes..even my qd gives me the app closed apparcserverthead message. but i guess thats normal. but i'm sure the *#7370# code works. i've used it like a zillion times so far...and it worls every time...all my phone memory erases and as good as new. then i pop in the memory card and restore the backup ..an volia ...i'm back to normal again !!

i'm afraid not ...either use the *#7370# code ..or take it to the nokia ppl n tell em to do it for you .

I tried so many times but still the same. I also deleted C:\System\System.ini file too but still the same. All my data are still there.

After I press *#7370# it will prompt me for password and I key in the password, my QD restarted and prompt me for date & time. All my profiles been reset but my contacts, SMS, alarm clock are still there nothing changed.

I also tried *#7780# and is the same too.

Can this be my phone hardware problem ?

My QD is v3.15 also.......I have problem with my phone a week ago....and I have flash it to the nokia centre......now it back to normal....hey guys do u know where to download QD firmware v 4.0/4.1......cheers :wink:

You CAN'T flash your phone unless you have the flashing tool (a hardware).
The best way to upgrade the firmware is to take the phone to the Nokia Service Centre in Melaka or anywhere.

whats the use of downloading the firmware ?? unless you've got a flasher box and plan to flash your phone yourself...downloading the firmware is a waste of time . just take it to the nokia centre or any flasher you know and tell him to upgrade ur software to v4.10 ..thats the latest version.

My friend had the flasher but don't have the lastest firmware. If I can get the firmware I can ask him to flash for me.

Hey jclio call cheater may help you coz the software doesnt blocks the calls but it plays some sound like raining, thunder,traffic jam and many more you may fool your friends or anyone with that software.

No it will not protect them from reading sms from your phone.

Then I cannot use this software to protect my sms.

As far as i know there isnt any software that can protect reading sms for you. but there is a software that can protect seeing the images. it asks for the password.

there is a software called "sms guard" and its posted on the forum. use the search button .. ;)

Now my N-Gage QD firmware just upgraded to version 4.00 (08-07-2004 / RH-29) and it's true that the LCD brightness been reduced.

I restored all my data back into my phone after upgrade the firmware. May I know is there any software that can just backup contacts and sms only? I worried that the file that I restored also will contain old data which I don't need it.

I plan to re-format my RS MMC card too because my QD still slow during playing games.

for guarding sms/mms even filtering logs of calls, try using gina. it's the best of them. it's here in the forum.. :wink:

I found the software and just want to confirm Gina v1.53.S60 is it the latest version ?

I found out the problem why I cannot reset my QD using *#7370# it is because I installed chinese fonts and it causes me all the problem.

I recommended to remove/rename the additional fonts folder that already installed in C:\System\Fonts before reset the phone.

i tink mumsms is another option for hiding sms from prying eyes, got my chinese app here -iphone ;) so far so gd. do a search n u will get it :)

:roll: so...when i need to do a HARD RESET in my QD...first i need to delete the fonts? WITH "FONT REMOVER".....because i have anothers fonts installed in my QD, no the original what come whit the QD...

I recommand that you rename the font folder 1st before you do hard reset.

For my case I only installed chinese fonts and I just delete the C:\System\Fonts folder and it allow me to reset my QD.

It is great to have my QD back because after change with my brother HP iPaq H6365 (4 months ago) gave me lots of problems. It auto hard reset and all my data gone. :D

I think there is some mistake.

I'm not using Nokia 3230, I changed my phone with my brother's iPaq H6365 and it gave me lots of problems (send back to HP service center twice to repair it).

By the way I heard that Nokia 3230 is a good phone for video recording. Is it true ?

Info for N-Gage/QD:

Everytime we use back-up/restore N-Gage devices theres always "AppClosedServerThread" and it slows down the back-up, specially the restore process because it reads the files *.mdl files on the System|Recogs folder.

My solution for this is everytime i need to back-up/restore my device, i encrypt *.mdl files on Recogs folder first using smartCrypto. and recently i dont use the built-in device back-up/restore anymore, im now using Sprite Backup so i dont need to encrypt mdls every back-up.. i encrypt them during restoration only. of course after back-up/restore process decrypt mdls again then restart the device.

I hope it'll help you guys.

Thank you very much everyone. Now I feel save with my contacts because I lost my contacts few times and I'm worried it happend again.

I had problem with my QD last time, it hang at Nokia logo when I try to switch on and my friend told me is software problem. He re-flash my QD and it work but all my contact lost.

I apologize giving you all so much trouble because I'm not familiar using forum to search for program. Please advice me how to use this forum to search for program that I needed / recommanded for my QD. I tried to seard from S60 app. from this forum but I couldn't find the program that I needed to backup my contact until now only I found this software.

What should I do to spruce up my ngage? I've used 7610//6670 before. So it feels a bit backdated for ngage. Is ngage a generation before 7610?

Anyone know how to solve this problem about MUMSMS 4.15, when I receive 4-5 SMS my MUMSMS will auto turn off and I need to switch off my QD and power on it again in order for me to use MUMSMS.
