now there are 1000s of softwares available on this forum including all the old and new versions.

why dont u put up a sticky thread in each forum which only the moderators can edit or reply in which u list "not post" the latest version of the softwares available. and u can update the list whenever a new softwares version has been launched.

it will really help us.

Thats a good suggestion mate :-) may be worth doing. Will put to other moderators and see what happens. Hopefully mods will post opinions here also ...

yes i already replyed to a user saying that the symbian games and apps sections were very desorganized with lots of thanks posts in the topics and i said to him that the only way was to a mod to collect all the softwares in a topic and locke it so that there was no way of users keep saying thx.
but that means someone has to e available to do something like that. it would take a lot of work to collect all new apps.

I think he means a list of apps updated so only newest version of each app is on list , not the actual apps themselves as that would be much work... A list of available apps would be useful but of course the user would still need to search to find them ...

the only use of that would be diminishing he number of topics requesting the existence of an app that could do this or that. they still needed to search. but to do that every app would need to have a description of what it does. very hard work indead :roll:

how about splitting those "thanks" in one topic and can put in into trash.. like in Ngage games in Annoucement Topic.. or other topics that have a lot of "thanks".. you can choose those posts and split in into one. hope this helps..

i think in this way, posts of certain Announcement or Sticky topic can be reduced..

Well myself and mark 6600 have slightly differing opinions on this issue... Basically it boils down not to the usefulness of it but the practicality of implementing it which we both agree would be incredibly hard to achieve. In regards to lovekonadj's suggestion well i have already done a few topics like he has suggested. Only yesterday i found a topic in nokia s40 that was a file as topics 1st post then 7 pages with merely "thanks" . i split it down to 1 page and trashed the other 6 pages. This i do as a matter of course whenever i see a topic in need of cleaning ...

First sorry if im joining this topic as the topic says "only for moderators to read.." thanks for doing that as you've done it already.. but i think, it's better not to trash or delete some posts. 'coz for example, in SmartMovie updates in Nokia(S60/S80)apps, there's a lot of posts there, but these posts are containing some questions that answered it already.. If and only if everybody have the patience to browse for the pages, he can solve his problem without posting any topics anymore.. it's hard to delete some posts like this, 'coz if it is deleted, somebody will reposts their questions.. you get my point?? allowing the "posts questions" make easy for moderators to delete the topics or posts.

i also suggest that, it is easy to delete new posts came from new members, 'coz they only post "thanks" just to reach 20 required posts. though they cant download, they just drop by and say thanks.. what do you think??..

@lovekonadj...No one would delete the kind of topics you mention. I refer to those that are literally pages of thanks with nothing Else besides.New users who post thanks do have access to all files except firmware so we monitor their posts to find those that are here to spam...

for that the search engine should be more efficient .

Like if i search for a file ... i get only the link to the post ... n if ther r 20 pages in the post , i need to browse to each page to find th file .

So if the search engine can point to the exact page .. it will be very helpful and wil encourage people to search

adnans point is really very valid and i myself have faced this problem many times esp when i am looking for a book or a clip and the search engine shows me links like all ebooks here / all smartmovies which contain 100s of pages. and to find what i am looking for, i have to go thru all, literally all of them.
so pls solve that problem 2.

for me, no problem in searching for a certain app.. maybe try to configure when u search..

i don´t know if you done it but have you tried choosing display results as posts on search panel? that way you get directly to the post you want and do not need to search through the entire topic.
shure it displays more results and it maybe more difficult to find but thats the way i always do and i manage pretty well that way. :)
sorry if i´m saying something silly :) but you are talking about going through all the pages when you do a search and i never have that problem.

That a very good point you raise mate. There are various options on search to make it easier... Give em a try :-)

i tried that ... "results as posts on search panel" ... n it works quite good .... better then results by topic ....

Cheers for your positive comments on the point mark 6600 raised.. Using the search options that way is indeed more effective.

well i hope every one uses this method from now on because it is so much simple and used it right away on my first days of the forum.
but also if you search by topic normally when you search an app the name of the topic is the name of the app and normally the app is right on page one so its easy to find.

My suggestion is that if you would not give a chance to other to express there views and a chance to appereciate their work then the uploader dont give much interest in uploading his work. I dont agree with you people that thanks giving is a waste at all.Just Imagine if you have created something unique and want it to share with your friends and then someone dont even give a chance to apperciate your work. then he will be dissappointed.

true azhararmar i totally agree with your opinion :) but what we are saying is that if people wan to support make them good comments not only thx or good but comments like "very nice job you are doing great and keep sharing" and also when posting comment about app also say if it works and in wich phone. now that is a usefull comment that also serves as support.
just check all the support comments us mods make and you will see what i mean :)

So true :-) not just thanks... Just some constructive comments about app suitability , usefulness etc are asked for . Yes its important to be grateful to those who supply all the apps etc to us but to add reasons is not much more to ask either.. Remember this forum is for discussion as much as files , its important not to forget that and talk to each other about our thoughts , experiences and opinions of what we see/download here :-)

Many different mods on many different sections... Not all moderation requires a post.. If you have checked and nothing wrong then nothing to post :-) myself and mark_6600 moderate in many sections so you see more of us than some of the other moderators...Please see each section for list of moderators there... Br , dmoe

yes some mods have specific knowlege about some areas of iphone. some are just for symbian games and apps like kassad and edan and cikke but others are best in hardware sections like the boxes sections and stuff like that. me and dmoe we are more general mods so we like more to help people and help organize the forum and keep it clean of trash and spammers :)

Absolutely nothing wrong with saying thanks... But in context. To say just thanks is not contributing to the forum. By downloading the file you are thanking in a sense. Members need to add more details if showing gratitude. If it works on their phone and what model it is ,why the download is useful to them and/or what they will use it for etc etc. Lets not end the 'thanks' but make them constructive and informative to others making them useful and interesting to read :-)

ok i have a suggestion

all the thank yous and wow really good appz etc

y dont we just have a Thankyou Button????

see if ppl stop all the un needed and jus use the button there will be a big difference on the server load

and that will lead to increasing the speed of the forum

even the replyies in every post will decrease only to important matters like the problems with the appz etc

even if a thank you button oike you are saying existed that wouldn´t stop the spammers from keeping posting thx. and if the only way to say thx was with the button they would find another way to spam be shure of that.

oh yes but im very sure that spamming would decrease dramitically and users would rather spam on more helpful things like wther the game has problems or not or works on a certain cell or not that would be better then just a post filled with thankyous from the start till the end what do u think??

and abut spamming on stupid things the staff members here could make an announce ment not to have un-necessary discussion inside posts

making anouncements doesn´t do anything because nobody reads them :) and even if we said that people should post whether if the software works on his phone or not and stuff like that i doubt anyone would follow that rule.
i think a better way to solve this is like a user said here to make a limit of words per post so that all thx posts would be eliminated.
