Mame (the Multiple Arcade Machine Emulator) is an arcade game emulator for PCs that has been ported to many platforms. E2MAME is a port of MAME for mobile phones running the symbian operating system. E2MAME is free software and currently runs on:
Series 60 phones: Nokia N-Gage, Siemens SX-1, Nokia 6600, and probably most other models. The very first Series 60 models, the Nokia 7650 and Nokia 3650, can only run the miniature version of E2MAME, called "Micro-E2MAME", due to very limitied memory.
Series 60 Feature pack 2 phones, e.g., Nokia 6630 and Nokia 6680. These models, surprisingly, have a bit less free memory than earlier Series 60 phones; therefore only Mini-E2MAME runs on these.
UIQ phones: Motorola A920/A925/A1000, and maybe more?
The Nokia 9500 and 9300 Communicators.
The Nokia 7710 are supported by Mini-E2MAME.The phones I have access to are the Nokia N-Gage, the Nokia 6680, the Motorola A925, and the Nokia 9500. They are what I use for testing, and I have very limited possibilities to fix bugs that only occur on specific hardware that I do not possess.
E2MAME is based on EMame, a Symbian port of MAME for Psion and SonyEricsson devices by Peter van Sebille.More information about MAME on these devices and Peter's other Symbian projects. Peter van Sebille also wrote "ECompXL," a utility that creates self-extracting executables on the Symbian platform. ECompXL is essential for building E2MAME (and EMame). This demo is made by third party other than Vampent. Vampent have tried some improvements with this demo. Note: it is only a demo. It is even not playable because of the low speed. It shows that some other groups have tried to make even greater emulators for symbian mobiles.
This demo also illustrates it is quite hard to emulate GBA with full speed in current Symbian hardware environment. However, it CAN emulate GBA with approximately 5 fps on normal S60.


Usage:

Here's some of the emulators you requested. I don't think there's a NeoGeo Pocket emulator available at the moment... I remember an app called N-Pop, but it didn't work on my Nokia 6600! :roll:

There are 2 versions of Vsun.One for 4096 colour phones (Ngage).One for 65000 colour phones,like 6600.Sounds like you have installed the wrong version.You need the version OS7 for 6600..NOT OS6.

the latest one ...GBA emulator !! no sound and very slow. but its a big step in the right direction . posted version for n-gage and 3650. other versions can be found on the forum . only works for files which are 8MB or less !!

1.install the app to mmc
2.unzip the rom and put it in the same directory i.e e:\system\apps\vbag
3.rename rom to 1.gba
4.run the exe file using fe-explorer or file manager. (the app does not create an icon)
5. ENJOY !!

Try re-booting your phone then try again.

I downloaded some roms from a site in a 7z archive and tried opening one of them to transfer the contents to the phone. It is then that I saw that the archive contains many different bin files. Do I need to transfer all these bins in order to make the game work on the phone or am I downloading from the wrong site?

you may be downloading from the wrong site, coz the .bin files are supposed to be just one file. unless those other files are savegame files or other documentation the site you downloaded from just included

UPDATE! PicoDrive 0.18 for OS7 and 0.17 for 6630/6680

Well,finally we have an update for the Pico..again,not all roms work with sound.
Ive tested about 125 roms and out of those about 16 had sound with varying quality.
Best were Sonic 1,Strider and Streets of Rage.The sound on these were better.But still buggy.A defenite improvement over 0.16 though,but far from perfect.
Hope the next update wont take as long :wink:

The only real diff I found the newest version of PicoDrive,is the sound is improved.But still not many roms run with sound.
The speed was always there.Just the sound was crap.Its better now,but like I said in my update poste, "Far from perfect" .

Hagis, you must use FExplorer to run Vbag. Search in this forum for FExplorer v1.13. And don`t forget that you must have available memory. Run maximum 8.00 Mb roms. Higher than that not working.

0.18 for OS7 should work on your 7610..

Note: Not all MegaDrive/Genesis roms will run.And then only a few with sound.

For Pico? Yes.. extensions must be bin or smd.

This v1.3 vboy crack is kind of messed up. Will not allow start button keypress on many games, including original GB Tetris and Double Dragon...among others. For now, the only good crack is the HeXPDA v1.21 crack. Hope we get a good v1.3 soon!

Here´s a pack of my favourite roms i searched from 2000 of mame32, it´s only 5,3 mg unpacked and a bunch of the greatest.

On 6630 version turn off keyboard sound in profiles to the sound run fine on the emulator.
keys i configured for pinball action was left - 4 right 6 throw ball 5 and tilt - 3 :P wonderfull games, enjoy.

Yeah I'm sure... when I load PicoDrive the screen flashes with the Pico menu for a second and goes back to the phones desktop, then I press and hold the MENU key to bring up the task manager list, and switch back to PICO - there it is... I've played several games- and many of the ones that DIDNT work on my 6680 DO work on my N90. :lol:

Also works on N70's :) tested it on a N70 myself.

There is one around that comes with a Bruteforce keygen..though apparently its almost impossible to get it working..

My advice is stick with Vnes. :)

We cant do anything with this..This may be bug.Contact the Vampent team. They made the emulator.

Use theOdds guide. Maybe it will work for you too.

And theOdds there have not been made any wonderswan emulator.

Nope,only it will run faster on 6630/6680 than 6600/3230 etc cause they have faster processors..what mobile are you using it on?
Basiclly S60 mobiles just are not powerful enough to handle a SNES emu I guess..Perhaps there will be improvements if further upgrades are made..but Im starting to think Vampent have taken it as far as they can..
BTW,have you tried vSun PLUS? It runs faster but at the expense of no sound..

Didnt I just say that too? (Processor)...Im saying current S60 mobiles are not powerful enough..If/when updates come,they will be made for future S60 handsets which hopefully will have more powerful processors..

Guys I have just installed Vboy to my Nokia 3650, and everytime I try to play game beyond 1 megs my phone restart. Is it true that my phone memory is full when I loaded games these big or is it just a bug in the appz?And also about a minute or more, I get kicked out from the in-appz menu automatically, is it because Vboy I have installed is not full version?

I've tried Vnes on my 3650, but it says system error as soon as i launch the program. I also have tried all of the program version given, but still it won't run. I know it should have worked somehow, and i suspect this is just only a system spesific problem but i don't know exactly what happened and how to slove. Can anyone help me?

Vnes does not work very well on 3650 phones..Vnes does crash with other apps on your phone. Try to format your MMC and install it. Thats the only way to solve it. Or buy a new phone :)

You can choose the screen size in options. And about the colours.. have you try out the other versions. If that does work you may contact Vampent team and tell them about it..Sooner you tell them... they will release a fix for it in the next version

boss, i tried vnes 65k and 256k, none working on my n70,the screen unreadable, funny thing is when i press the no button/menu ( i mean the menu for vnes) the screen is fine, pls, help, i desperately want to play bandit king of ancient china with my n70....:(

As I said before.. This emu has not been updated yet to work fully on Nokia N series.. The vampent team may fix it in their next update of the emu.

You must be using wrong version.Find and install vBoy1.30 65K color version for your 7610.Thats gotta work.

Hmm...seem to be having problems with both 0.16 and 0.19 versions of PicoDrive? Everytime i sucessfully install it into my QD and try to open,i get the "System Error" message.

Well Im not really sure what the problem can be but...

1: Have you removed the old version(thats can be the problem)

Picodrive 2nd edition doesn't show a proper icon on N-Gage maybe there's a compatibility issue between them i installed it once and removed it immediately so i didn't study the files much, i'll installed it again and maybe discover what is wrong with it.

an emulator can run fast if your fons processor is that fast...and i dont think that that fon is invented....we have to wait for a high processor fon to be build so vampent can produced high quality speed emulator....thats all....thanks...hehehe

i got problem with VSUN on 6670, everything works ok, but problem is the screen size. only in 176x208 i see everything but the quality is not so good. in other resolutions the screen is cutted in all ways.

It is due to the screen resolution. SNES has a wider screen than our 6670's :P
Until they develop a better (antialiased) view, well, there's always Mario for gameboy color :)

and vSun plus sucks! :( [less compatibility, no sounds and transparency!] i think its a downgrade of the snes emu.... i suggest u stick on VSun 1.1, just disable the sounds and transparency and you have VSun Plus with more compatibility!

For some reasons, newer versions of picodrive do not work on N-Gage. there appears to be some compatibility issue, as someone here already mentioned (minimum of apps, lots of internal memory, no apps running in the bacjground). I`ll have to try the one DDJ posted. :)

EDIT: OMG, it does work on N-Gage, and all the games I`ve tried so far do. With sound, even! DDJ, I`m eternally indebted to you! You have a pint on me. :drinkers: :lol:

Seems to be running fine on other S60 with faster processors like 6630 and up.
I hope there will still be updates,just because it runs fine on other S60 that doesnt help us 1st gen S60 owners..:(

Still,its a big improvement on previous version I must admit..I tested about 130 roms,only 1 or 2 didnt work but a few others didnt have that great sound,but most do.

And for StreetFighter fans you'll pleased to know I tested StreetFighter2 Special Championship edition and it runs fine!.. Previous versions of Pico closed when match started.

But hey,I always prefered MortalKombat myself..But thats another topic..;)

sad news for me... :( sf2 champions ed works flawlessly, but it's improved version Super Street Fighter II doesn't work ok.

I tried about 5 or 6 different versions. some of them were with bad gfx, some of them didn't run at all... (red screen of death if You know what I mean :P )


oh well... at least we have Mortal Kombat :P and WWF Wrestlemania :D

eh... batman and robin does not run well... but this version of picodrive supports 6-button controllers, so MK3 is much easier to play :D

sonicboy is perfect ob 6600 so mabe also on N-gage

picodrive emulate a more powerfull console so it is normal that in not so powerfull Phones it is some time choppie.

But for what I can see picodrive 0.050 gose perfectly on my 6600 , at least good enought to enjoy the games with or without sound (just with some slow down but from time to time not so much if you run the emu after a reboot of the phone without notusefull other apps in background

Yes..As far as I know the 6630/6680 and N70 up have all the same 220mhz processors. Correct me if Im wrong anyone.

Dont know about 6630 but i can tell you on 6600 most of the roms I tested had sound..( Tested about 130 roms).

yes i already tested all roms and it works fine here using 6630, all i am concerned right now is how can i maximize VSUN to run properly, when i disable the sound it works fine and fast, however when using sound it slows down the game, as you mentioned earlier that N70 is using the same processor well thanks for reminding me cause im about to buy that model i thought that model has more processor speed.

Perhaps one day when S60 or UIQ are way more powerful..But dont count on that any time soon.

hm... I was just thinking... Imagine - phone industry is progressing very rapidly, and in next few years it might be possible.

Its a software that is used to play games with it, on other hardwares like phones. There is many emulators. like : Snes,Nes,GBC and many other.
Snes is a old console: SuperNintendo
Nes: Nintendo
GBC Gameboy Color

Choose one of the emulators and install it on you phone. search the site or use google to find games for the emulator that you have installed. Send the game file to your phone and start play old console`s games.
Fun and entertaining.

It is like to play nitendo and playstation2 on your tv(the tv would be your phone), the only difference is your taste for the games, each emulator plays their own games, the other games, java or symbian will play just the same on your phone so look around and make your choices, to many options between great games, star browsing the pages or use the search, HAVE FUN!!! Not sure why that happens, but did you download this one vboy.4k.65k.262k_759.zip and installed the 262k version? if that doesnt work then I dont know how to help.

I'm using vSun on my 6600 but I found myself in problems because of the screen size. Example: When I play Zelda in 176x208 resolution I can hardly read anything,because the screen is streched,and so are the letters... :/ If I change to any of the other given resolutions it resizes the screen outside my display so I have parts of the actual screen missing... Any suggestions?

vSun is still unstable. The Vampent team has stopped working on the Vsun emulator.We have to wait till someone else does take care of it or the team return back with new updates. So I cant help you out.

Vsun is slow and Vsun plus does not support sound mate. There is not other files then the one you can find on the first page. Only Vampent the creater of this emu can do something with it, but as I said above they are gone. No one knows where they are or if they still update their emulator`s.

Wait for new updates is the best help I can give

guys.. im using picodrive 0.19 and playing all kinds of RPG games like shining force 2, phantasy star etc.. but my problem is i cant save the game.. in phantasy star when you save you cant load the game.. and in D&D game when you save and try to load it back the game becomes very blurry and you cant see the game anymore.. is it posible to save any games in picodrive? specialy when im a RPG fanatic? if so pls tell me how.. thank you in advance.

m8 you have good enough free memory but it would be more helpful for ppl here to answer your doubt if you tell us how much free memory you have on your phone and what phone you are using...???

.gbc-roms works really well with sound and smooth graphics.
what's the problem? i don't wanna use supergoboy (the only one that play's

@ravetracer m8 there are not much choices that we have at the moment.....
ther is no other updated vBoy version around....
i still stick with supergoboy as have not many options.... ;)

i had been using pic drive from last months .it was working fine.but a week ago when i try to installl new version in 0.50 it stops working.whenever i tried to open it it opens but when i click on load rom it automatically closes.even i older version also stops working .i re-install it but no trick works for me.remember i installed too many ngage games but i deleted all harmful libs but not still working.pls help

The Sound setting are desible , you can enable sound in the option.
Not all the game support sound in this emulator. the current 60s version are 1.52

I suggest you try "Micheal Jackson" Moon Walker.......(Poor sound quality) thats why the creator desible sound (default) .

If S60 ver1.52 do not work try the others OS8 version.

Upload the Sis File to your memory card , create a Rom Folder and Send all the "Bin" file or smd" file in there .

Use select Q or file manager to install the Sis file. done and start the program and run configuration ...thats all

Here´s a pack of my favourite roms i searched from 2000 of mame32, it´s only 5,3 mg unpacked and a bunch of the greatest.

On 6630 version turn off keyboard sound in profiles to the sound run fine on the emulator.
keys i configured for pinball action was left - 4 right 6 throw ball 5 and tilt - 3 :P wonderfull games, enjoy.
I installed this and put some mame roms in the folder on my mmc, but it can't see them. Can anybody help??

I've checked these ou, but these games are shockingly bad. I was hoping for newer games like golden tee and final blow. Is it pos to get them working?

install pico drive in MMC

Hello there :)

Ok first install the emu on your phone. We can take the Vnes extract it with winrar. You will get sis files. Send it to your phone and install.
Get a rom file and extract it to your computer with winrar. You can use bluetooth or cable to send files to your phone. Send the file to your phone and you will get it as a message. Open it and the emu will start it. You can even use zip file to. It does support with the emu.

Vsun,Vnes,Vboy,Sonic Boy works great on 6600 but i think sonic boy doesnt support sound,while Vsun support sound it the sound quality aint so great but who cares as long as you can play SNES hope my post helped

Dude its easy you just both open the bluetooth play the same emulator and rom go to the LINK menu and one should "Host" and one just "Join" the model i used was a 6600 and 6630 to play "VNES" roms "CONTRA,SUPER CONTRA" with my buddies so i think nokia are supported to play VIA bluetooth

Does this last version of Vnes run with N70?

They are the .37B build anyone else know where to get other roms that are build .37B. I can find later roms but they wont work.

There is so many same questions here sometimes that I really dont want to reply to them even.

@gaga2k If you took some time to read through this emu thread you would find your answer. Many others has asked for the same question. Those emu`s wont work fully on the N80 phone. They need to be updated but The vampent team is gone.

@poq have you searched the site or did you use google to find if anyone has even created the neo geo emu for symbian phones.


@keyhan Why do you not test it self. If it does not works the version we have here then we cant do anythin with it. The Vampent team has quite updating their emu`s

When you unpack the rar file with winrar software on your computer you will get nfo file and sis file. Open the Nfo with notepad to see install notes.

But still I can give you help for it.

1Download one of the emu`s to you computer.

2:Extract the file with Winrar software to your comp to get nfo and sis file

3Do you have cable or bluetooth on you computer.

4:Connect your phone to the computer with the cable or bluetooth

5:Right click and choose send to send the sis file to you phone. The phone will ask you if you want to install it.

6: Games are the same way but you can send it to your phone without extracting the rar file. The emu`s are supporting zip files.

Remember to install the emu first and then the games :)

I am not sure if the emulator`s are working fully on a N70 phone. They need to be updated.

Please update your profile with which phone you own. It will make it easier for me to help you.
But I think you problem now is the emu. Pokemon does not work fully on the Vboy emu. The emulator needs to be updated.
The Vampent Team is gone and they have stopped updating their emu. We cant do anything with it anymore.

Please check out the first page of this thread to see all of the avaible emulator`s. We cant get you emu that supports those games. Download and try them out.

if you check the sourceforge site you'll find a few free games like beneath a steel sky and flight of the amazon queen. theres also a torrent with all the scummvm games in it, but not many seeders around so it'll take you a while

The VNES posted on this site can play the games but it stops after a minute and prompts to purchase the emulator. This thing just doesn't work at all on my 3660. Anybody? Help!!!!!

VSun can still be improved. It's so sad Vampent didn't continue to make any updates for their emulators. vSun problems such as ugly dimensions when 176X208, crappy sound and frameskip problem) need to be improved.

If they give their source code. Then we could see a better SNES emulator enjoyed by everyone... it's really a waste.... hayz...

Pokemon Emerald is a Gameboy Advance game. Vboy is only for Gameboy color games.

There is a gameboy advance emulator out VBag, but I recommend you to not try it out as it is only beta and unstable emu. It can harm you phone.

Download gameboy games have fun playing them with the Vboy emu.
There is other emu to have fun with.

Vbag is working on Nokia 6600. You must free RAM, at least 8 MB. Picodrive N70 is working perfectly on my Nokia 6600 v5.27.

is it possible to play Game Boy Advance on nokia 6630(with normal framerate)

Game Boy Advance aka. VBAG. This emulator is only a beta/demo. NO one is working to update. Its not possible to play vbag with normal framerate!


is sega megacd roms works with picodrive? (like final fight)

Vbag is working on Nokia 6600. You must free RAM, at least 8 MB. Picodrive N70 is working perfectly on my Nokia 6600 v5.27.

Mind me asking - do any emulators work on the nokia 9300? I'm quite the naive nokia user, and really have no idea how it works, nor what Symbian system I am using, or if any of these are compatable!

Any help would be appreciated.

y does VSUN unload the rom when u come to the phone desktop? this preventa multitasking and annoys me a lot...

None of the emulator are working with the nokia 9300 phone. The creater of the emulator like Vampent and other can update their emu`s with more support for other phones.

i have a problem with vsun in my n-gage qd, it runs very very very slow even if there is no sound and no other application is running, i saw an n-gage classic with the same program but his game runs very smoothly, why is that???

I own an N70 and im trying to get it to run pico drive im currently trying to using version 0502ndedition it installs correctly opens fine but when i go to find/load rom it just crashes back to the menu!

Anyone have any ideas how to fix this?

Just want to know the best Nes and Snes Emulator for my N70
having clor problems with VNes

There is three types of vnes versions. Try them all and report back. And again again.... There is only one snes emu and thats VSun. The emu is still unstable and the creator has told us that they are working to update it.

I have Nokia N70 and the newest firmware. I install ed the apps on the MMC card (512MB - lots of free space).

I downlaoded and installed vBoy and ran the vBoy Demo.zip. The screen is all fuzzy, the colors are all wrong, and i can only see a bit of the screen. wtf?

and then, i tried vNes. Guess what. The picture has strange colors (sound is working ok) but when i press the right-softkey (so menu pops-up) the colors are normal :D .

can you please suply mw with the working .sis files?

Wich picodrive version is the newest 1?
