Finally, im done on how to make a tutorial for ultramp3 skin with screenshots.. this is my 3rd tutorial with PICS. the other tutorials were ICON MAKING and FONT MAKING. it's all here!!

Now, time for ULTRAMP3SKIN MAKING.

i found that some members were still lost in making the skins for ULTRAMP3 so i made one.

hope this helps and easily to understand..

PS. the tutorial requires of the following softwares installed.
1. WINRAR
2. ANY GRAPHICS EDITOR(it's ur choice)
3. IRFANVIEW(search on google or search for it here)

but i got a question on this.
did we need to change anything in the *.ini file??
coz i hv make the skin b4 with just overwrite the skin.pcx , urs is much complicated but very useful.

the .ini file is just configuring on how to locate the song number, song title, etc.. u can use Paint for this. just open ur 176x208 image in paint and you can see like 1,2 at the bottom right corner. just copy it to the ini file.. and about the colors, u can use adobe photoshop or fireworks(for me) to see the colors(number code for colors), you can see it if you export it..

btw, i've given the tutorial STEP 4 if anyone wants it.. it is your choice whether you change it or not..

can any one tell me from where did v get the .mp3skin file in the first step

on the first step, i've created that mp3skin.. if you want it, i'll upload it here.. you can edit and you can download some mp3skin in the Stciky Topic above the Section..

Thanks a lot. But how do you make the skin file 8 bit palletized and what does it mean. In paint shop pro it means to make it 256 colours or something, is that right?

@needsoftware.. here's how to modify colors of the font..

btw, forget about the 8-bit palletized.. i think you can use any images with different quality of resolution.. correct me if im wrong..

When I change RAR extension back to .mp3skin it stays a RAR file but wit extension .mp3skin.rar :evil: :evil:

[TIPS] problem with the extension back to .mp3skin

click "my computer" then "tools" then "folder option" then "view" then uncheck the box "Hide Extensions for known File Types" then click ok.

NOW, rename it again to .mp3skin. POP-UP will appear like in the tutorial. just click yes.

That's it :D ..

Lovekonadj if you know how to make the skin.pcx file with adobe please tell because I share my computer with my bro and he is the administartor and Im not and I cannot install Irfanview. He wont install it either because you know how big brothers are.

as im using adobe photoshop 7.. i just open the 176x208 image in jpeg or bmp format, then i click "save as" and follow steps below.. :D

You know something the problem for me was that I kept saving it as .rar then .mp3skin and it didnt work. When I saved it as .zip the .mp3skin it WORKED!!

YEEEEEEEAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAH!

After finding out about the zip thing I changed the song colour name at the bottom to white. :D

Change the file from .zip to .mp3skin.

here's how you do mate :D

download some mp3skins here.. forget the 8 palletize as i've mentioned earlier.. and to make it 176x208.. make ur own image first then just resize it.. use irfanview, much precise for me..

Note: if you are going to open the .mp3skins with rar extension or zip, you will find all the files that the tutorial mentioned.. btw, it's for you if want to configure the .INI file.. it is just to change colors and location of the description.. So I suggest download existing mp3skins and edit it by just replacing ur created .PCX files..

for 9500.. im not sure how 'coz i dont have any to experiment but as i have found on the forum that there is a mp3skins for this mobile, create ur wanted image in 640x200 pixels, and save it as skin.pcx.. about the other files, download the .ZIP file and maybe you can start with it.. just follow the tutorial for futher details..

just create the word, use adobe photoshop.. u can input words there, etc.. like in paint.. regards

Its not working for me! Are you sayin that i should only change few things in the existing pic of the skin and not the whole pic? As when i tried to change to a new pic made with adobe and made given changes in skin.ini file then also it doesnt work and it reverts back to default skin.please help what should i do?

forget about the skin.ini first.. just go on the tutorial, rename it to rar or zip extension then open it. . i suggest better use IRFANVIEW! open image with 176x208 pixels. save it as SKIN.PCX. now drag the skin.pcx to the rar file. rename it back to .mp3skin.. be sure that u uncheck the hide extensions in folder options.

i downloaded a working mp3skin from another thread, then i have worked back, meaning, i remaned it to .zip, unzipped the files then renamed the picture i have worked in photoshop to skin.pcx, then zipped it again, renamed the zipped file to .mp3skin, transferred the file to my phone yet i still got the default ultra mp3skin. very unfortunate for me.

i guess we are downright lucky these days. just search in the forum, there is a program to create ultramp3 skins. it made creating skins so easy. just try to search the forum. godbless
