http://img244.echo.cx/img244/771/fescr0085sp.jpg

Stuff u need,
1. MBM wizard
2. unmake sis
3. a logo template
4. Adobe Photoshop (and u need experience with it a bit)
5. FExplorer
6. A Symbian Series 60 Phone.

And everything above (except for Photoshop) is included in the attached rar file.

*This works ONLY on Series 60 Symbian NOKIA Devices.

Here’s how you do it:

Step 1:

If u already have the MBM file, u can skip to step 2. But if u don’t, continue…

*The operator logo is Theme Specific, so u need to create/change the operator logo when ever u change u're theme, to match u're theme.

Using unmake sis, extract the MBM file from a Theme sis install package.

http://img163.echo.cx/img163/3919/14ki.jpg

Step 2:

Open MBM wizard, click on “File” -> “Import”. Then locate the extracted MBM file and click on open.

Then choose the 3rd item (c16image2.bmp in “Files in Archive”), and click on “Save selected as bmp”, save the file some where u can locate.

*if u have a problem saving in MBM wizard, saying that u r missing comctl32.ocx, it’s also included in the zip file. Just copy it to “c:\windows\system32” folder and click on “start” -> “run” -> “regsvr32 c:\windows\system32\comctl32.ocx” -> “OK”, then u’re done. Run MBM wizard afterwards.

http://img163.echo.cx/img163/7047/28ck.jpg

Step 3:

Open up Photoshop and open the included “oplogo_template.psd”. You should see the guides. If not, goto "View" -> "Extras".

Also open the bmp file in Photoshop u saved under step 2.

http://img163.echo.cx/img163/805/36zp.jpg

Step 4:

On the opened bitmap, press CTRL+A (select all), then press CTRL+C (copy).

Click on the template, press CTRL+V (paste).

Now u may close the opened bmp file. (not the template).

http://img163.echo.cx/img163/9352/44eb.jpg

Step 5:

You should always stick inside the guides; make sure nothing goes out of it. Because that’s the part where the operator logo on your symbian phone is displayed.

Just as shown on the screenshot, type or create something within the middle section of the guides.

http://img163.echo.cx/img163/7532/52fb.jpg

Step 6:

When u’re done with it, Click on “Layer”-> “Flatten Image”.

http://img163.echo.cx/img163/6513/61ue.jpg

Step 7:

Using the “Rectangular Marquee Tool”, select the middle area on the guides. If the selection tool doesnt snap to the guides, goto "View" -> "Snap".

Then press CTRL+C (copy).

http://img163.echo.cx/img163/4398/71xf.jpg

Step 8:

Go to "File" -> "New". It should be by default of 97x25 size. Make sure that’s the resolution and click OK.

http://img163.echo.cx/img163/9671/85ro.jpg

Step 9:

Press CTRL+V (paste).

http://img29.echo.cx/img29/7864/105vk.jpg

Then click “File” -> ”Save As”. Make sure the “File Format” is “BMP”, file name can be any thing u prefer. Click on “Save”.

Transfer the created BMP file to u’re phone.

http://img163.echo.cx/img163/4894/90li.jpg

Step 10:

AFTER HERE, everything happens on the phone.

Open FExplorer in your phone. Using FExplorer locate the BMP file u created.

While the BMP file is highlighted, press “Options”, Select “File”, Select “Set as operator logo”, and press “Select”.

FExplorer should alert u that the phone requires a restart, Press “Yes”.

THAT’S IT :), now you have u’re own oplogo, use u’re imagination to do more wild things ;)

***IF YOU WANT TO REMOVE YOUR OPLOGO***

Using FEexplorer, Delete all the files inside the folder "C:\System\Apps\Phone\Oplogo" in the phone and restart u're phone.

I learnt this from a friend,
Great thanx to Josh!...i just made his teaching a bit public :P

Logo is fine, but if I change to other theme, the logo is still stuck there.
How to reset to original standard operator logo?

u said s60 phone??? I don't think it works on NGAGE. can't it work???

grippa
2nd May 2005, 00:29
dont really know that...u could try on u're ngage. but i think u should just use a white background instead of the theme background for the ngage.

and no u cant use this on SERIES 40 (7250, 6610, 6230, etc)

U mean tat this program cant work on n-gage QD ? And the mbm wizard i facing the same program.... wat shld i do ?

1. copy comdlg32.ocx (included in archive) to c:\[windowsdir]\system32\
2. start -> run -> type -> "regsvr32 c:\windows\system32\comdlg32.ocx", then hit OK. u should get a DLL register successful confirmation.
3. after run mbm wizzard.
4. if it says more ocx/dll's are missing, just google them, u can find them easily. follow the above 3 steps, u should be fine.

NOFI finally came through with this prob, now he's fine. am i right NOFI?

u can use operator logo's on the ngage (and other symbian 6 devices), what u have to do is, use a white background instead of the theme background used in this guide.

I have used the same method to create my logo, only I used a screenshot from my mobile and edited it in Photoshop. However, in both cases this is not really a transparent logo, is it? Sure it matches the background but there is no transparency there. Changing themes stills requires you to create a new logo using this method.

grippa
24th June 2005, 13:52
yes true, its sort of a mock transparent logo. but thats the only way u can do it though...

I've got a Nokia 6670 and I'm using the Fido net here in Canada. I went through your guide and have created my own oplogo. For some reason when I "set as oplogo" in Fexplorer and let the phone restart. My oplogo NEVER shows up, it always says the carrier's name.

What do I have to do to change this.....?

Can someone help plz...

I must've restarted my phone like 10 times and I know that the size and details of the "created oplogo" is perfect 97*25

Thanks,

Also open the bmp file in Photoshop u saved under step 2.

Step 4:

On the opened bitmap, press CTRL+A (select all), then press CTRL+C (copy).

Click on the template, press CTRL+V (paste).
