If you install Community Seamless Software Update (CSSU) ([Only registered and activated users can see links]), you can set up to 9 desktops. At this moment CSSU is in testing stage, but in a few days we can expect stable version, so I recommend you to wait a little bit.

Stable CSSU is just released. If you want to install it, just click on this link ([Only registered and activated users can see links]) to trigger installation process.

If you already installed testing CSSU, then you can't go to stable. You should take my advice and wait until stable CSSU is released. Now you are stuck with testing CSSU and there are only 2 options, to stay with testing CSSU or to reflash device with latest firmware and install stable one. If you decide to stay with testing CSSU, then it's highly recommended to remove stable repository.

.apps developer for maemo currently is very few..thus making few apps in repo..if u have extra-devel enabled, thats how much u can get within maemo repository..
alternatively, u can manually search in the internet the .deb files..but be careful, dont install .deb files as you wish..if its not incompatible, dont use dpkg..and some apps that are not inside maemo repo, is sometimes outdated or not maintained which will cause memory leak or problems that can point to last measure of flashing your device.

There are few mistake in 4# post ([Only registered and activated users can see links]), where the word Fremantle in Distribution field should be written with small first letter!

Fremantle-1.3 --> fremantle-1.3

Fremantle --> fremantle

---------- Above post added at 19:04 ----------
Below post was at 19:13 ----------

The right configuration

Extras
Catalog name: maemo.org
Web address: [Only registered and activated users can see links]
Distribution: fremantle-1.3
Components: free non-free

Extras Testing
Catalog name: extras-testing
Web address: [Only registered and activated users can see links]
Distribution: fremantle
Components: free non-free

Extras Development
Catalog name: extras-devel
Web address: [Only registered and activated users can see links]
Distribution: fremantle
Components: free non-free

The field "Catalog name" is not essential, so you can use your own names.

i think there are a ton of themes available and it requires theme customizer (which included in package when downloading themes)..try R2_D2 config..and update your catalogue.
