After find the great Tom Tom 5 program on here I went ahead and bought This GPS device (http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&rd=1&item=5218496662&ssPageName=STRK:MEWN:IT).

Finally got it connected to my 6260, but it says "GPS signal lost" as soon as I start the program... I've been out in my mate's car and walking around but still no GPS signal - am I missing something or doing something wrong :?

I'm using Tom Tom by Coffee Cup.

Please help

Tom Tom 4.43 only works with official TomTom GPS reciever.

Tom Tom 5 works with the GPS recievers listed on their site.

So u can do 2 things:
Download tom tom 5 (somewhere)
or buy diff gps reciever :p

Hey,

Just wanted to clarify a point made here, so as to avoid any confusion.

"Tom Tom 4.43 only works with official TomTom GPS reciever."

Not if you have the all-GPS version it doesn't mate, it then works with more receivers.

"Tom Tom 5 works with the GPS recievers listed on their site."

Yep, but most if not all work as the bluetooth standard is just that, standard now across most GPS receivers.

Heh sorry, I didnt know that there was an "all gps" patch for tom tom 4.43, when I started downloading TomTom version 5 was just out so :)

And its best to use one of the GPS recievers listed on their site, cause its not only about the bluetooth connection! Bluetooth is a standard yes, but the chip in the GPS has also different standards, which can cause a GPS reciever to work or not!

Thats why I said look on their side, in that case u can buy one @ local shop and if it doesnt work, u can let them test it, cause it should work!

Anyway, its best for most people to play safe with a GPS reciever if u are unsure about what u can do with them :)

My GPS reciever only works cause of its internal antenna, so first check if it does have an internal antenna!

secondly: my GPS only worked when I had TomTom running about 30 mins with connected to GPS via bluetooth, and searchin for satellites, I was driving in my dads car (which is the "new" type) so it blocks out a lot of signals (hence why ur radio antenna is on the outside and its so long!!) at all times my GPS was close to an open window and after 2 mins I saw it was looking for satellites in the "show GPS status" (freely translated from my dutch menu) and after about 10 to 30 mins I had more then 4 signals at max, and bam TomTom worked, and after that it picks up signals way quicker now.. only takes about 1-2 mins for fully working :)

Im using tom tom 5 btw :) with an unofficial GPS reciever for 16 satellites

U can also check in shop where u bought reciever, cause in my case it didnt worked that quick, and in the shop where i bought it they had an amplifier and my GPS and TomTom worked perfectly in under 10 secs!!!!!
But once again, they have an massive amplifier which makes the signal so strong, that TomTom and GPS reciever work so quickly

Good luck
