Can someone help me out here.....
Any software to convert avi files into "video Ringtones", like the phone plays a video when someone calls instead of a tone.

first record the film using a TV-tuner 2 trnsfer ur video clips to the pc or if u have a digital cam its best to use its own software to generate clips from ur cam... or if u down know what i mean, use Microsoft Windows Movie maker and u can transfer ur video clips using step by step procedure in it...
then
before recording u must set ur template or rather the settings of ur video output into either NTSC or PALSECAM setting
choose within this two
NTSC is FOR ASIAN
PALSECAM is for European and so on
------------------
NTSC 29.9 fps
PALSECAM 25.5 fps
------------------
note: dont alter both video sizes choose only between those two formats(NTSC, PAL) which will be display on video (T.V.) it depends upon ur country.
then
once you've record the film to ur pc using ulead video studio 9 it is automatically converted to mpeg which is uncompressed file...
now edit ur video and split it into 2 parts when ur recording time is longer than 1 1/2 hours this is very essential.
now when its done use NERO 6 ultra edition, it has a very nice feature that automatically creates a VCD file format and it converts any avi or mpeg files into the blank cd.
viola ur problem is done!

Rule of thumb: your source should be of higher quality than the target media. So capturing it in VCD quality then burning it with the same profile would just pixilize and haze the final encoded movie.
So if you plan of converting your videos to VCD (352x240) you should atleast capture (vhs-vidcam->avi) your movies to a higher resolution like 640x480 (for VCD/SVCD or DVD 1/4) or 480x480 (for VCD only). After that Nero or ulead could transcode to a lower profile much better.
Since assuming your just using a Software base capture card, meaning the encoding of the video capture is entirely software based (true for most tv tuner card). If your using a hardware based capture card you could straighly encode in the media you intended and have a clear final media.

Why not use mp4 instead..coz 3gp format sacrifices quality over size. There are no settings to tweak coz its already a fixed setting.
