Movie Preview :-
After the success of Maine Pyaar Kyun Kiya, comedy king David Dhawan returns fast with a mega-starrer that promises loads of trademark David Dhawan masala. And for this movie he gets together with producer Vashu Bhagnani with whom he has always come up with No.1 movies – Coolie No.1, Hero No.1 and Biwi No.1. Storyline

Raj (Fardeen Khan) loves to paint the town red, maroon and crimson too. Bhavana (Ayesha Takia) prefers the colors of spirituality. He wants fun 'n' frolic in the bed room, she prefers pooja paath in the prayer room.

Veer (Zayed Khan) moves to a flirt beat. Diya's (Esha Deol) heart beats for acting. He wants to rock 'n' roll in but the only role she will consider is the one in films.

Aryan (Sharman Joshi) is god's gift to women wanting love. Sonia (Soha Ali Khan) is a life line for women wanting divorce. He will appeal to woo her in bed.

Meanwhile, no one knew that three bomb shells Madhuri (Ria Sen), Dimple (Sophie Chaudhary) and Rekha (Arti Chabaria) will have an explosion blast with Raj, Veer and Aryan.

And most important of all is the ‘Kabab Mein Haddi’ Lucky Bhaiya aka Lukhwinder Singh (Sanjay Dutt). He will add namak mirchi to the perfect khichdi cooked by the guys and make their wives suspicious and their lives suicidal.

Movie Review :-
KYON KI… is special!
It teams Salman Khan and director Priyadarshan together for the first time.

It also pairs Salman and Kareena for the first time.

It is inspired by a classic Hollywood flick and it would really be interesting to see how the makers have Indianized the story.

Most importantly, it comes at a time when Salman's career is at all all-time high, with a number of hits under his belt, the recent one being NO ENTRY.

All these factors put together only enhance your expectations from the movie. Unfortunately, KYON KI… disappoints.

The problems with KYON KI… are manifold. If the story fails to involve you [it's outright predictable], even the grip, so vital in a love story that promises loads of drama, is clearly missing.

With three accomplished names [Salman, Kareena, Priyan] teaming up for the first time, you expect fireworks, but what you get in return is old wine packaged in a new bottle.

Priyadarshan has missed the bus this time!

Anand [Salman Khan] is in love with Maya [Rimmi Sen]. Maya too loves him, but is always out to play a prank on him. Anand and Maya are planning to marry, but Maya's prankish nature results in a freak accident in which Anand throws her in a swimming pool on their engagement day, not knowing that she can't swim. Maya dies…

A devastated Anand is convinced that it was he who killed Maya. Unable to overcome the shock, Anand loses his mental balance and is hospitalized.

Strict and old-fashioned Dr. Khurana [Om Puri] strongly believes that brutal force and oppression are the only way to tackle insane patients. Initially, even Dr. Tanvi [Kareena Kapoor], his daughter, feels the same, but she has a change of heart later.

Dr. Sunil [Jackie Shroff] develops a special bond for Anand. He also gets to know that Anand's family was instrumental in making him a doctor. Anand revolts against the strict hospital regime and rebels against the system. Dr. Tanvi takes up Anand's case and treats him with utmost compassion. Anand gets completely cured, but during the course of this treatment, Tanvi loses her heart to Anand.

But the father is against the match…

Remake of Priyadarshan's Malayalam film THALAVATTAM, which was loosely based on ONE FLEW OVER THE CUCKOO'S NEST [1975], KYON KI… is one of the most predictable stories to hit the screens in the recent times. Starting with sequences in the hospital and going into a flashback [Salman-Rimmi's love story], to Kareena learning the truth and the Salman-Kareena love story subsequently, the story is such that it doesn't need much to guess what's in store next.

The screenplay of KYON KI… is a major stumbling block. The narrative is devoid of anything exciting. Perhaps, Priyan wanted to strike a fine balance between pleasing the elite and the aam junta, but neither does the drama have the stamina to strike a chord nor does the emotional quotient tug at your heartstrings. The formula may've worked in the 1970s and 1980s, but it's a complete misfit today.

The hospital sequences at the start of the film actually put you off completely. The way the nurses and hospital security thrash mentally challenged people black and blue is highly objectionable. How could such brutality on patients be depicted on screen in the first place?

Another glaring flaw is that the moment Salman regains his memory, he starts singing and dancing with the doc [Kareena] who treated and cured him. Hello, but wasn't the untimely death of his fiancée [Rimmi] a major setback for Salman which made him lose his mental balance? Can anyone overcome such a major crisis in a jiffy?

Even the Suniel Shetty track -- Om Puri fixing Kareena's marriage with Suniel -- is least convincing. The Manoj Joshi outburst also looks completely forced. Ditto for the end, which is very depressing.

Priyadarshan's direction is an absolute letdown. It just doesn't look like you're watching a Priyan film, for there's not one scene that has the unmistakable stamp of a genius. Also, the director is letdown, and terribly at that, by a lifeless screenplay.

Himesh Reshammiya's music is okay. A few numbers are seeped in melody, but a hit score is clearly missing. 'Dil Keh Raha Hai' and the title track can be singled out, but the remaining tracks are passable. Cinematography [Thiru] is eye-catching, especially the locations of Romania. Dialogues [Sanjay Chhel] are quite nice at places. Editing is loose, with the second half going on and on endlessly.

Salman Khan delivers an honest performance right through. He may not be as convincing as Sanjeev Kumar in KHILONA, but it's a pleasure to watch Salman shed all inhibitions and come up with a near-perfect performance. Kareena Kapoor is natural to the core. Clad in cotton saris with minimal makeup, the actor shines even in a non-glam role.

Rimmi Sen doesn't really get scope to display histrionics. She is strictly okay. Jackie Shroff gets ample footage and he is likeable as well. Suniel Shetty is wasted in an inconsequential role.

Om Puri plays the Hindi film villain of the 1960s, shouting and screaming throughout the film. Asrani is alright. Manoj Joshi is loud.

On the whole, KYON KI… lacks the power and punch generally associated with a Priyadarshan film. At the box-office, it's a complete letdown.

Sahara India Mass Communication and Percept India in association with Silvertoons is all set to release their animated mythological flick Hanuman. The film is about the astonishing journey of this mythical superhero from his days as naughty but blessed baby, to his eventual triumph in the army of Lord Shri Ram. The film is about 100 minutes in length and has over 40 individual characters. It has been recorded officially as India's first indigenous animation film in the Limca Book of Records' 2004 edition.

Storyline

Hanuman was born to Anjani, a female Apsara and Vayu the Wind God. He was blessed with supreme intelligence, strength and divine powers. As a baby, Hanuman was quite naughty and used his powers to pester the saints living in the nearby forest. Once when he was hungry he leapt to catch the sun thinking it was a fruit.

On the instance of Vayu, Indra and the other God’s came together to bless baby Hanuman of immortal life. Blessed with divine powers Hanuman grew up to be powerful and mighty. No harm could befall him from any weapons, fire and water could not harm him. He could overcome death and above all he could transform his body to take the smallest form or attain the biggest form of life.

At 34, Mithilesh Shukla (Rajpal Yadav) is a bachelor. A librarian with the University of Lucknow, Mithilesh had successfully avoided marriage, despite all the family pressure.

Despite all the plans and blessings, this time Mithilesh is unable to avoid the, Veena-any other man interaction. Factors like, Akash and Veena’s similar preferences, a lot of catching up to do, Akash’s boyish charm, often make Mithilesh feel like the intruder.

Watching Veena and Akash together, Mithilesh can’t help but think about how well suited, they are. In Akash’s shadow he realizes that Veena deserves better. Restless and contemplating his next move, Mithilesh is shattered when he finds out that Veena feels the same.

Movie Preview :-
Sameer (Aryan Vaid) and Devika (Preeti Jhangiani) are married to each other. Inspite of their middle class setting, they are happy in their lives with immense love for each other. Devika is a painter by profession.

No Entry is the story of three men. Kishen (Anil Kapoor) - 'the married man' Sunny (Fardeen Khan) - 'the Bachelor' and Prem (Salman Khan) - 'the married bachelor'.

Ironically, while the faithful Kishen has a very suspicious Kaajal (Lara Dutta) as his wife, play boy Prem has a trusting wife Pooja (Esha Deol). And then there is Sunny's-to-be wife Sanjana (Celina Jaitley) who is a bit of both.

An Aamir Khan film is special. And if the actor happens to take a [almost] 4-year sabbatical from work and returns with a period epic, MANGAL PANDEY, you wait with bated breath for the overtly choosy actor to mesmerize his fans and cinelovers yet again.

Aamir's teaming with director Ketan Mehta as also producer Bobby Bedi, names synonymous with quality cinema, conjures images of an ambitious epic that could well be India's answer to the Mel Gibson classic BRAVEHEART.

Talking from the economics point of view as well, there's a lot riding on MANGAL PANDEY. The stakes are high, the industry can't afford biggies to bite the dust.

A slice of history that explores the mutiny of 1857, MANGAL PANDEY balances form and content beautifully. Lavishly mounted and recreating the era with precision, MANGAL PANDEY suits the term 'landmark cinema' and has all it takes to help Bollywood take a giant step into world cinema with pride.

Ketan Mehta's execution of the subject leaves you tongue-tied, the visuals appear true to life, the performances [so essential in a film of this genre] are absolutely spellbinding, the sequence of events that led to the mutiny are carefully explained. Result: The viewer cannot help but get transported to an era when British ruled India.

Recreating history is difficult and making you glued to your seats for the next 3 hours could be taxing if the content doesn't live up to your expectations. But MANGAL PANDEY talks about the martyr, his heroism, his contribution to India's freedom movement so effectively and immaculately that you can't help but salute the great freedom fighter.

To sum up, MANGAL PANDEY is a brave attempt on the part of its makers to bring to life an important chapter from history. And make you realize that the freedom we enjoy today is only because of our predecessors, who gave their blood for the nation. The film succeeds in arousing patriotic feelings without a shred of doubt!

Mangal Pandey [Aamir Khan] is an Indian sepoy serving Britain's East India Company. Mangal rescues his commanding officer William Gordon [Toby Stephens] on the battlefields of Afghanistan and the two men develop a friendship. The Hindi-speaking Gordon is sympathetic towards the locals, which is in stark contrast to most of his white colleagues.

The story takes a turn when the British introduce a new set of rifles. To use them, the sepoys are required to bite the bullet. The paper cartridges encasing the gunpowder contain beef and pig fat.

Neither Hindu nor Muslim soldiers are prepared to use the new cartridge on religious grounds. Trusting Gordon that the cartridges do not use beef and pig fat, Mangal bites the bullet, but when the sepoys learn the truth, Mangal revolts and leads a rebellion that sows the seeds for the end of the East India Company's reign.

Attempting a period film in an era when the focus is on candyfloss, escapist cinema is nothing short of a challenge. It's a risk, as the storyteller just cannot deviate from history, indulge in cinematic liberties, throw songs whether or not the situations warrant them or try to balance serious with light moments. If you talk of national heroes, you ought to remain faithful to the subject-material. And that's precisely what Ketan Mehta does while narrating the story of a great freedom fighter.

MANGAL PANDEY grips you from the very start. A number of sequences [screenplay: Farrukh Dhondy] leave you spellbound --
The very start of the film, when Aamir is being taken to the gallows.

The fight between an English officer and Aamir, when the former forcibly tries to molest Rani soon after the mujra.

Toby rescuing Amisha from the funeral pyre.

The turning point of the film, when Aamir uses the gun cartridge that has been greased with cow and pig fat.

Aamir angrily confronting Toby Stephens at the intermission point.

Aamir facing the British army alone and when he realizes that he would be overpowered, trying to commit suicide by shooting himself.
The sequence in the hospital, when Toby tells Aamir to apologize, but Aamir sticks to his stand.

The finale, when Aamir is publicly hanged and a brief B & W newsreel follows.

Besides, the battle sequences [stunts: Abbas Ali Moghul] have been executed with flourish.
Any loopholes in an otherwise perfect film? The songs seem forced in the narrative. Ideally, the film could've done with two songs, 'Mangal Mangal' and 'Teri Adaon Pe Main Vaari Vaari'. The Holi track as also the romantic song [filmed on Aamir-Rani, Toby-Amisha] can easily be deleted since they only act as barricades in the otherwise smooth narrative.

Another drawback is that certain characters remain underdeveloped. The women don't have much to do in the film. Even the track of the maid [Mona Ambegaonkar], who feeds the British woman's infant, appears incomplete.

Since the film deals with history and British rulers specifically, the usage of English language is imperative, but Om Puri's voiceover in those scenes makes it easier for the average Indian moviegoer to decipher and fathom what's being spoken on screen.

While Rahman's music may not be ever-lasting, his background score has that international feel, befitting an epic. Cinematography [Himman Dhamija] is exceptional, again matching global standards. The locations and the colors only accentuate the visual impact. Special mention must also be made of the production design [Nitin Chandrakant Desai], costumes [Lovleen Bains] and makeup [Penelope Smith, Slash Apeni Sandhu]. Dialogues are natural to the core.

MANGAL PANDEY would look incomplete without Aamir's awe-inspiring portrayal of the great hero. Not once do you realize that the role is being 'enacted'. It's Aamir's splendid performance that makes the film a memorable affair, besides Mehta's storytelling of course. It goes without saying that his performance in MANGAL PANDEY should rank prominently in his enviable repertoire.

Toby Stephens is simply amazing. For an English actor to deliver lines in Hindi and match it with appropriate expressions is no ordinary task. The actor compliments Aamir at every step and delivers a knockout performance that would only draw applause from Indian moviegoers.

Both Rani and Amisha don't get ample footage. Rani is wonderful in a small role, but Amisha is relegated to the backseat completely. Kiron Kher is effective in a neat cameo. The film has a number of actors, but those who make their presence felt are Mukesh Tiwari, Sohrab Ardeshir and Amin Hajee.

On the whole, MANGAL PANDEY is a film of epic proportions. A genuine attempt at bringing alive a great hero on celluloid, the film will only bring pride and prestige in the domestic market as well as on the international platform. At the box-office, with the distributors flooding the market with extensive prints and multiplexes performing 12-15-18 shows a day, the first 4-day weekend [Monday, 15th August is also a holiday] will witness historic collections, with the distributors recovering a major part of their investment from the proceeds of the first week itself. Overall, the merits coupled with its business will undoubtedly make MANGAL PANDEY a big grosser.

The film deserves to be tax-exempted in every state of India, so that the heroic fight of a great freedom fighter has an extensive, wider reach.

David Dhawan is back this summer with another laugh riot, something at which he excels. Under the banner of Shree Asthavinayak Cine Vision, Maine Pyaar Kyun Kiya is a Sohail Khan Production.

Storyline

There's no doctor like Samir (Salman Khan) - he mends broken hearts but there is no remedy for the hearts he breaks. That's because this orthopedic doctor just can't resist woman. Neither can woman stay away from this charming Casanova.

But there's one exception - his work obsessed dutiful nurse Naina (Sushmita Sen).

She has no life except the doctor's clinic and she's always busy making sure that the doctor keeps his appointments with his many patients and his as many girlfriends.

To make sure none of his affairs become serious, Dr Samir has one instant cure. He tells all his besotted girlfriends that he is already married. Most of this swallow this bitter dose and leave him alone.

But there's one exception. His latest love Sonia (Katrina Kaif). She is beautiful, bright and very sensitive. Sameer is finally in love and tells her he wants to marry her. But she has one condition. She will marry her only after she has met his wife!

Now Samir is stuck. Because there is one problem - he has no wife!

To make his lie true, Samir has to tell one more lie. Then another. And yet another…

Helping Samir cover the truth with his lies the reluctant but loyal Naina. Helping Sonia discover the truth behind the lies is her besotted neighbor Pyaare (Sohail Khan).

Into this shindig drops Samir's mom who likes slapping before speaking and Samir's best friend Vicky (Arshad Warsi) and his fake patient Thapa (Rajpal Yadav) who have their own lies to protect.
