3RD PARTY ICONS TUTORIAL

Change all symbian application icons of your phone including the default/stock applications (like Tranfar Data, Video Editor and etc) by introducing 3rd party icon in theme studio.

PROCEDURES:

1. select '3rd party icons' from 'Theme' pull down menu.

2. from the first window you can see the information of the applied third party icons. information includes status of the icons and icon names. You can add new third party icon by clicking 'new' from the command bar. you will be asked to input the following....application name, application uid (include 0x), icon type (mark the icon type/s you wish to customize). then click 'ok'.

*** to know the exact apllication name and uid, run fexplorer, go to the directory where the app is located (ex. E:\system\apps\ETICamcoderr\).highlight the .app file (ex. ETICamcorder.aif), then press # sign of your keypad to view its properties. take a look at the image below. ****

3. mark the icon type/s you wish to change. then click 'ok'.

now go to 'icons' -> 'application icons' -> 'context pane icons'.
a new space is not alloted for your 3rd party icon.
you will noticed that the icon there is the same as your menu icon.

4. BEFORE changing it, click 'clear' from the command bar. (failure to click 'clear' will affect the menu icon when you edit the 3rd party icon)

5. the icon slot is now cleared ('check' mark below the icon is gone) and is now ready for editing.

6. you can now paste your desired icon (size should be 44x44 for context pane icons and 42x29 for application shell icons). to replace the mask, click 'mask' from editing toolbox then paste the new mask. after everything is ok, click 'save'. a check mark should be seen there below the icon.

7. repeat steps 4-6 for 'application shell icons'.


8. ETICamcorder icon should now look like the icons below.

I will try to make a tutorial on how to mask the icon in photoshop will post it on 26th maybe try to finish it before that day :)

i'll gonna look forward to that yudo :) i just noticed that masking in theme studio isn't good because it has black lines on the edges of the icon

use axialis icon workshop (try "wxw.axialis.com", sorry i forget the link , and search for the crack, ), you can convert from .bmp to .ico or .png, .icl to .ico than to .png. or you can convert from .ico to .png, than open png file with corel photopaint. its so easy to separate mask with corel photopaint using .png file converted from .ico.

not too complicated yudo. in axialis, open your icon (.ico file). then from pull down menu, choose "file/export". choose transparency with png (or simply press cntrl+shift+T). save the file, open the png in photoshop to create the mask and resize it. you're done.

Yup it does work mate we need Fexplorer to do it bcoz it need uid3 of the apps in order to change the icon :)

But I've got 1 question, how can I find the folder's icon UID code? I guess it is using a 3rd party icon, because it isn't in the default changeable icons list.

Using file manager. find u app folder. then choose ***.app. get properties for ur app. u can get ur app uid.

thanks, but i think you mizunderstood me, i'm not asking how to find the folder of any specific app, what I want is to change the menu folder's icons. But i don't know what name should I search for...

ei guys, you can also get the application uid w/o browsing the specific folder. Just Run FExplore > Options > Tools > Installed application. Then look for the INSTAPP.txt that was generated. The file contains all installed applications w/ UID :iphonepost:

If you are talking about N70 i would like to know it too, but in 6630/6680 i think it calls musicplayer (3rd party app).

how can i make a icon 44* 29 for the list view..............
without losing the aspect ratio

if i just resize 29*29...
the icon is not placed at the centre if i try to move it am not able to move the mask icon with the orginal one....
