Any Symbian phone later than the 6680 have this function called "Active Desktop" This enables 5 icons you choose to be placed there, also the function alows calender reminders.

The calender function is useful on the Symbian range, because of the loss of some practical calender functions from the Series 40 range, plus it looks cool, and is v. functional.

what network is the phone as my uk 6680 has active standby on it . Guess you may be on 3 as they mess with the phones ! Just get the firmware flashed to newest version at independant shop . That way you wont be stuck with particular network firmware anymore.

My N6680 has the very old firmwarev2.04.15, is 3 BRANDED FIRMWARE and has Active Desktop.

Try flashing your phone mate at a Nokia Service Centre, that should fix your prob.

can 6630 have this feature?

no this is only for 6680 and Nsries phones. its very strange this feature should be available. i guess the flashing didn´t removed the operator crap that is blocking the top icons.

Could someone upload this active desktop plugin? I have N70 with orange menu and I don't want to loose my warranty so I can't debrand this phone by flashing it. I've found that orange menu is located at "Z:\System\Libs\Plugins\HOMESCREENAIPLUGIN.DLL" & "Z:\System\Libs\Plugins\homescreenaiplugin.rsc". Maybe this "active desktop" plugin also use those files in debranded phone. There are also two other files which probably should be altered: "Z:\System\Libs\Plugins\activeidlemytodaysettings.d ll" & "Z:\System\Libs\Plugins\activeidleoperatorplugin.dl l".

So if anybody could be so nice to extract those four files from Z drive (from phone which has "active standby" plugin) and upload them in this topic I'll be very thankful.
