- Based on Theme Studio 3.0 base graphic set 'Digitiles'.
- The many errors in digitiles base (for n90) have been corrected.
- Other items have been changed to suit my preferences.

EXTRAS

- n90 alternative Cover Wallpaper (Install Manually)

KNOWN ISSUES

- Some minor areas do not work on some phones (shows base graphics/colours instead). This is a phone compatibility/firmware issue and/or theme studio 3.0 issue.

- Some third party applications hard code the text colour to black and/or pick up the incorrect theme text value which results in black text on a dark background. This is an application bug not a theme bug. Developers should use the themes active background text colour setting if they are going to use use the theme active background as part of their application or give the user an option to change text colours.

1.2.1 Create a private key and self signed certificate

makekeys -cert [-v] [-len key-length ] [-password password ] -dname distinguished-name-string private-key-file public-key-cert

For example:

makekeys -cert -dname “CN=DSymbian OU=Development” Dkey.key Dcert.cer

Open a dos cmd window and manually run makecert.exe and makekeys.exe with parameters (u know old cd\dir cmds and so on) If you run makekeys alone you will see options help screen. help is in the TS 3.0 artists guide on this.

As the title reads these are only for N series... sorry but I am only interested in making themes for my model phone (n90) and other N series at the moment (n70 and n91). There are plenty of themes already available and many theme makers for other s60 models but very few supporting specifically newer N Series resolutions, vector graphics and other capabilities.

query, i own an n70 and there remain but a few of you who make themes for this series. could you please make something based on the justice league unlimited or maybe the xmen or some form of anime like the avatar, the last airbender. i just think there are too many car themes out there but your first for the n-series is great though. keep up the good work. i hope i don't get banned for requesting here. it seems none of my requests with other threads was paid any attention to.

They all download correctly for me and sizes are also correct. I think this is a download problem for you only. Try again and if you still have problems let me know.

Does anyone else have any trouble downloaiding or installing with the last 4 base colour uploads?

They all downloaded ok,but they wont install,'file corrupted' on the red,blue and gold themes!
This is after e-mailing them to my phone from my work pc and downloading via opera straight onto my phone!

As you can see people i'm having trouble downloading these themes(red,blue and gold)would anyone please be able to send me the sis files(not zipped or rar files)
Quozl has sent me rapidshare and megaupload links which i cant use due to work server restrictions!!!!
If you would like to help me please let me know via PM as i am desperate for these themes as i requested them last night!

Quosl,i sent the 3 files(red,gold and blue)to my mate Elton at www.symbianthemes.com to see if he could find out what was wrong.He said there is something not right cos upon opening the files in theme studio only default images are shown and not that of the previews!

I've never had this trouble with any of dingo's other themes(i have all of em)like i said the black base installs fine its just the other 3 themes that give me the 'file corrupted' message!
This is really puzzling me as other themes are installing without problems.

When i had the themes still in their rar file's on my phone the rar plug in with my zip man kept giving me the file corrupted message which is strange as its never happened before.Now i'm at a pc that has winrar,i extracted them and now they are all installed and i'm very happy!

Generally you can not just open compiled themes in Theme Studio so I expect thats why your friend is seeing base graphics only. You really need the exported tdf file with original source files to edit someone elses theme.

Vector graphics in the new version themes are stored in a file named .mif and bitmaps in a file named .mbm. To date only utilities are available to extract bitmaps from mbm's. I have searched for a tool to extract vector graphics from .mif with no luck yet. If anyone knows of one please post it in the forum. It is possible using api calls I beleive if anyone can code such a utility.

Thanks for the support people... I enjoy making the themes but the appreciation and comments do help all themes makers who put a lot of time into doing these just for fun, personal use and sharing worth it.

Many people ask for other s60 versions and I will investigate myself a bit more but the main reason I have not made cross compatible is as follows:

1. Time.. yes its preceious :) I can easily convert all themes to s60 version 2.6 but automatically any main white text becomes black.

2. Compatibility with white font colours. I have a 6260 for testing from time to time but it appears to my knowledge that only N series (or more precisely s60 2nd edition feature pack 3) is supporting white font colours as main text. Can anyone confirm this? Most themes I have made would look terrible with black main text and the backgrounds contrast is just too dark to support it.

3. Vector Icon support. Once again when compiling for version 2.6 all theme vector icons automatically become non visible on phone and the theme will simply only show base phone icons instead.

In summary I want my themes to remain of great quality and useability and to look like they were designed. Using and converting vector icons to bmp's is very time consuming (masking etc) whereas with vector graphics no masks are needed halving workload by allowing built in transparencies plus allowing scaleability to any size without loss of quality. Trying to support both older (mainly bmp compatible themes) and newer vector graphic themes is a great task to achive in spare time having to in effect create each theme twice to be of quality.

Yes these base themes were taken straight from exisiting themes as mentioned in posts which means they have some theme orientated graphics still in them such as signal and battery images like 'clouds and lightning bars' from stormwater which doesn't always suit a base theme meant for everyday use and any kind of user made wallpaper.

I plan to make a common set of good graphics 'non themed' and use the same common graphics across a larger range of base colours consistently.

I would love your themes on my 6680 but understand its just not possible to and retain the themes originality and look . I have aco kuna s60 remake of black surfer and although its really good is nothing like as good as your n-series original. Its just how it is that us with s60 must use different themes. The white text to my knowledge is n-series only so again nothing can be done . Please just continue making your themes how you wish to make them and for the phones on which the will work the best ! I will have n-series sometime and already have all your themes stored on pc ready to install when the day comes :-) best regards to you , your work is superb, and your now an iphone 'Theme Master' :-) congrats you thoroughly deserve it ! Fantastic theme! However there is one tiny glitch with it else it will be perfect. When you go into tabbed screens (e.g. logs, phone settings..etc) the tab fonts becomes white like the background and u can't see a thing. I hope u know what i mean. BTW I'm using a N70.

I downloaded the them again and restarted the phone. Doesn't work. I attached some screenshots.

This must be a bug/compatibility issue with the new theme studio regarding the N70 (sorry my english sucks)... All N-Series themes I've tried have those tabs and it really destroys a lot of themes. The only n-series themes that have nice tabs on my N70 is some of the pre-installed default ones like the Lights, Glass & Standard theme.

Progress made and almost ready to update first of new batch (hopefully tommorow I'll load a preview). Found some interesting things in my latest developments...

1. People using my themes (and any others made using TS3.0) may have noticed any customised wait progress bars stop animating after one run through. This is a TS 3 bug but I have managed to work around it so all future themes will continue to animate while waiting.

2. Solved the issue with TS3.0 not allowing or showing third party icons and will include some high resolution vector app icons in the next updates. I really want to update many more than I have so far but there are so many possible applications so this will take some time so I think I'll just upload a preview copy and keep going after that on adding more n more icons.

3. I am trying to solve some of the other minor bugs as well such as the volume controls and tabs not working in TS3.0 but have not gotton that far yet.

Its just the standard n90 font. A lot of people comment on n90 theme images and want the clear font. Its available or a clone is anyway if you search but it does not make fonts on the n70 or s60 other phones look like n90. The reason fonts look so good on n90 is solely due to the higher screen resolution I believe being 352x416.

Dingo,the theme looks great on my N70!
D'ya want a few opinions?
The clocks nice but the 'dingo quartz' bit does'nt look very good,it probably looks great on the N90 cos of the bigger res,but on the N70 it can get in the way of the hands because the text is blurred(see pic).
And the custom icons are ok but i prefer the icons you usually use!

These are just my opinions though mate:-)

Sorry,i read that you have spent alot of time on the icons what i meant was i prefer the folder icons on the other base themes!
The new folder icons dont seem to belong with the other icons.

Thanks for the input... I am not sure of the folder icons myself either... Have changed the overlapping icons since preview and completed call grahics so just finalising/modifying a few graphics before compeltion of the base. I don't like the old folder icons much at all... they boxy looking and not very clear on n90 so I imagine worse on n70... Hmmm... maybe a bit more fiddling with these to get some middleground.

Don't worry bout writing on clock it will go in release version anyway. I tend not to mark any release versions. If I was using someone elses themes I would prefer them unlabeled too regardless of looks.

Hey that screen shot looks like the clock date box is out on n70??? Is this correct? Mr G can you email me a few more screen shots from n70 like the tabs screen and any others that have minor problems. Rather you email than fill up this thread with testing pics though. I'll pm the email address again in case you have lost it.

This is my theory on the tabs and volume controls not working in themes made with TS 2.0 and 3.0. Probably this will only make sense to theme experts with knowledge of element names/components.

1. Older themes for s60 show custom volume controls whereas new versions do not. I believe the elements that make up such graphics on n90/n70 are still like old phones being qsn_volume_on etc whereas in new versions they are using qgn_volume... etc. The graphics compile but the phones ignore them.

2. On n90 tabs work but on n70 they don't. Same reason I think in that n70 is using old tab system still with preset grids for 1 tab / 2 tab / 3 tab / 4 tab / etc whereas n90 is using dynamic setup.

Of course another reason may be firmware and system support for themes. Anyway just some thoughts for the xml code junkies (and if thats you then pm me to talk more on this).

If anyone has particular apps with crappy low resolution icons they are using on N series and want high resolution icons included in updates then just Private Message me and included UID3 and Application Name and Path Name (or to avoid errors use FExplorer to generate installed applications list and copy from there).

There is one serious BUG with the Black n Silver beta/1.0 release.

When you have WHITE background (for example adding access points etc), you can write BUT you cant see anything. :partyman:

Interesting... Need to see a screen shot to work this one out properly. On n90 those screens are light (have light grey backgrounds and yes white text but it is readable/useable). Perhaps its different on n70.

Note that this was on purpose. To keep the themes looking good sometimes I compromise the lower screens that have not much use. I mean everything should be readable and useable but with the deep settings screens which in theory are used in general once off or seldom I do not place much emphasis on having excellent contrast.

Basically one font change or one highligh change can chnage a lot of other main screens also. But its no good if its not readbale at all.

Good idea... just need then to support 2 versions of every theme which is painful. I made the n70 look alike icon to replace the horrible and boxy default phone icon which looks like no real modern phone at all. Thought n70 look was more common in marketplace than n90 and closer look to n80 which in my opinion will be the best next phone for both n70 and n90 users to upgrade to (well once decent software support is available anyway as I wont rush to get this model due to that fact alone).

I also use n90 so for some of the best themes I might just make a n90 look alike version too.

I would also really appreciate if you compiled the Black & Silver Theme for older s60 phones. It is definitely possible, even Mellie75 has already compiled most of her themes which were originally also only meant to work on nseries phones only, so far.
If you took the time to do that that would be great!

You the theme has made him Kalka. And is a good theme!

1. Calculator graphic highlight not showing. Yes I know but not know how to solve. It just doesnt show on n70 for any black background themes it seems (very strange) as graphics are no different to my other themes... so for now this one problem is unsolved. Personally I dont use this calculator any as Calcium is sooo much better. I suggest if you realll ylike the theme and must use a calculator to try Calcium... its great and takes half the time to perform calculations (using direction pad as opperand) and similar look to an ipod.

2. The message icon at top of screen when you go to messages has always been like that. No theme can change the default message icon. Its the same with the default Installer icon if you look at the previews. This is not editable in TS3 unfoturnately on Nseries so not a bug in theme just a bug in TS3.

3. S60 (non N series models)... Once again I might do some conversions for older s60 if time permits but BLACK IS NOT POSSIBLE! How is one to read black text over a black background. Older s60 phones do not allow white font text as main text colour for grids or lists!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Only N series themes that do NOT use white text as main text are somewhat convertable to s60 but need bitmap elements for many graphics. I will not do bitmap graphics for older phones as I am only really interested in vector graphics. In other words some vector graphics work on older s60 and some wont work so you end up with a theme that looks half made and non consistent. Sorry but if you really want older s60 versions in any hurry ask in another thread titled "Themes for s60 2nd Edition Feature Pack 2 or older" and take a screen shot of my themes and maybe someone will make for you.

I found 1 small bug in v1.1: black text in a black pop-up box (see image) maybe you can correct this . . .

Unfortunately this is an application bug and/or non fully compatibile n70/n90 program. I could load light grey highlight to this screen popup but how far do you go before the whole theme looks too grey. A sacrifice of using a black theme at present I think. Like MS dictionary (I made the active display grey only to support programs like this).

1. While a s60 program may work on N series it may not necessarilly be supported by the Developer. Its a general s60 version and all older nokia s60 phones only supported black text hence many developers did not have the knowledge or foresight that white text would become possible in future phones and have hard coded the text to black. Resulting in the screen you posted.

2. Some Developers actually claim the program is supported for N series (like F secure if you get the N series version) but then in this case F secure have a bug and overlooked the now possibilites of themeing in current models. The more people that write to such developers and state they have found a bug the better as then they may release an update to fix such in their software. All N series supported software that use the themes elements as part of applications display should either give user option to set text colour or pick up the themes text colour as well as the backgrounds (and stop hard coding text colours into applications).

This is not something that is readily editable in TS and savable in a theme package. I have not looked into custom ones but I imaging you would need to repalce the inbuilt op logo with a correct graphic type with FExplorer. If anyone can confirm what is required I can make the graphic to suit for you.

Went to Holland (and around Europe twice) last time many years ago. Relatives near Amsterdam and outskirts (I think its called neimhagen (spelling is probably wrong) about 15 minutes bike ride form Amsterdam center.

I love amsterdam,been twice before and i'm going in the summer and i'll be going again next year for my stag weekend before i get married!!!!

Well Done! Great Work. If you read carefully though it was not claimed to be impossible to mimic such themes to older s60 versions just impossible to simply convert them in their original form/graphics without more work and patience as you say. This extra time I can not afford as mentioned.

Some things to my knowledge are impossible to do with TS3 and older phones. Things like white main text on a black background. This makes it impossible to replicate the exact look of some of my themes especially the dark ones. If anyone can do this then tell us all how please. Knowledge is key.

Don't get me wrong... I am glad someone has taken the time to reproduce the Processer theme and wish you more luck in the others if they desire.

P.s. Have been very busy with work stuff of late and no time to make more themes for a while. Hopefully soon I can relax again and put some new updates together. I am still using Black n Silver at the moment and have not tired of it yet :)

P.s. If anyone wants the source icons in vector format just ask. A lot of time can be saved by using the originals rather than re-creating them.

Attached are the orginal vector icons and graphics as used in the Black n Silver 1.1 Theme.

Note there may be several versions of the same graphic inside archive which is because TS3 will create a new copy of graphics each time you modify it. Therefore for example the following is present with some graphics of a similar type just slightly updated in each version. The most recent should be noticable by date modified - In short you will need to choose which one to use from many edits in some cases. Sorry too lazy too sort them all out. BTW the numbers dont necessarilly show the final version used. (I think I just confused myself with that dribble :)

TIP: Many different icons can be made by ungrouping parts of other vector icons and re-using them in a new icon.

And here is a single vector file with many of the individual vector icons on scratchpad. Open with Adobe Illustrator or possible other vector program editors.

Having all the icons on one page allows you to easily grab parts of others and mix n match to create new icons.

Note its good practice to surround the final graphic with a border to match theme background but not absolutely necessary. Just adds better contrast. This process can be very difficult for beginers in vector graphics to master or trace outline evenly... i cheated on many and some did not bother with like third party icons.

Hope this helps any N series vector theme makers and also those wanting to use the N series icons may find useful also to convert these to bitmaps with more efficiency than screen dumping.

Hello everybody and all the iphone community, just joined and still find it difficult to log off.

Yes these problems as mentioned in past few posts are beyond our control until Nokia fix theme studio 3 to be compatible with n70 and n90 properly.

In my opinion (from experiments and documentation) it looks like n70 and n90 theme components use some newer and some older elements mixed which then makes it difficult to have Studio 3 compile for both. Really they need an option to compile for the n70 or n90 specifically not just version 2.8 as a whole as both phones are utilising different elements. Or so it seems.

I do not hold my breath as I see them focusing on new N series compatibility and it seems to me the N70 and n90 are stepping stones into the newer op sys's and likely to be left behind as far as backward compatibility goes.

As the saying goes... If you are the first to try new technology expect bugs and betters versions in later models of a similar line of products. N90 and n70 owners are in effect 'Guinea Pigs' in the prodcut cycle :)

n90 owners are probably more unlucky in that volume sales must be low compared with n70 which means less demand in this prodcut and support line as well!

Dingo, the Storm water is a great theme! But, could you please improve it a liitle bit? When a message arrives, it doesn't display any icon. And one more request: could you make this theme with the same background as in the main window? I mean, without blur, cause I like the picture very much.

I'm still around... but unfortunately for theme making I have taken on new job and have other urgent projects to work on. Spare theme time is zero to -1 :rolleyes: . It will be a while before I do another update on themes... sorrry all, and thanks for the support.

I notice nokia released another update to the Theme Studio 3.0 but it also seems from the release notes they have not fixed the minor bugs that affect n70 and n90 themes from being perfectly compatible. Instead moving along with support for new models and os to no suprise.

I am still using Black n Silver on my n90 which is my favourite creation. Will have to check out what other theme makers have done of late to see if any good ones are out there.

Depending on time it could well be that my next creations are for my next phone which will be in the new os versions.. n80 or n93 or whatever may be next...

Great theme but for some reason I don't seem to have got the "wallpaper" - still my old one. I have searched my phone but can't/did'nt find it. Any ideas?

Have gotten rid of the ol n90 and moved on to n80. Like it so much better!

Here is my favourite theme converted ONLY for N80 and other v3 phones. It was a straight conversion from the existing n90/n70 version and may now need some improvements to take advantage of newer op sys and features so post any bugs or dislikes and I will add to mod list for next update.

Note: I have tested it on my n80 briefly and it works fine. Got a warning 'theme may not be compatable' during install and not sure why but it works as i said.

Do not have screen dump app yet installed so please refer back in this thread for picks of the black n silver theme on n90/n70.

Lastly for those who have tracked theme making and TS 3.0 bugs for n70 / n90 it now appears with TS3.0 for n80 all those problems are solved (on first glance anyway). Things such as volume controls now work, along with other bits and pieces. There are also some text colours that work properly now also so in this version for n80 you may find some text would be better in white which will be perfected in next updates. Just goes to answer my own theories that TS3.0 while supporting n70 and n90 was made really for n80 and the like proving support for entry level N series was never properly maintained or much effort put in by Nok.

Anyway enjoy this pre-release... It looks awsome on the black and chrome n80 model and craps all over the default themes that come with the phone (in my opinion - but i am probably biased :)

P.s. Please no messages to make themes for anything specific or other models than n80 (or compat). I am still short on spare time and will only be perfecting this one theme in comming days/weeks for now. When its perfect on my n80 then I might make another but again only for n80.

when it says "theme may not be compatable" most of the time you won't be able to uninstall it.. it won't show on the app manager...

i'm trying it with N73 and will post my result.... i like finding bugz.. i hate bugz tho... and it would be cool of you if you could post the theme with defualt icons as well :)

Both suggestions will be done. Those are the early things i noticed also on straight conversion. Grey background turned to black and top bars + text is different (needs silver bar or lighter text etc etc).

I also was thinking the same with making the black theme without any icons included so defaults will all be the same.

The third party apps for os9x v3 phones seems to better pick up right colours so a full black background may now be possible to remain (needs some more testing).

Has anyone found a prgram like mbm wizard for vector icons? Love to be able to rip original icons out in vector format to do mods with. Black background with silver trim around all icons like originals would be great.

I hope you will do a version with the current icons and a version with the default icons for N73 owners. I personally am bored to death with the N80 default icons, there seems to be some very nice icon sets out there at the mo that are much better than the default ones.

Known Issues:
- On N80 gives warning during install may not be compatable with phone (works fine and unistalls fine also). Nokia's own N80 add on themes made with TS3 such as Crimson Tide and Induce Vault also give such warnings).
- Noticed some third party apps are still not using/referring to correct theme text colour or allowing text colur change in their settings. Most for N80 that I have tried now include the right text colours or options but one I found such as myweather does not. Minor thing.
- Possibly some otherminor colour/text issues but thats common to many themes especially when using solid black backgrounds. Overall I have worked around many issues to provoide a solid working black theme.

Silver Groove v01 (Pre Release)

This theme is 99% vector graphics with only 1 .bmp background used in the Music Player application (thanks to Omizzay for the music wallpaper :idea:). I'll call it a pre release (majority is already customised from scratch/new graphics) only because I will further enhance a lot of minor things soon.

The package includes 2 .sis Themes with and without new icons:
NI = No Icons (Defaults)
I = Icons (Customised Digitile Icons)

Post any suggestions or bugs if you like.

ah true.... but as u can see the icons aren't aligned with the theme's lines...

plus when on offline mode the X that replaced the signal bar doesn't show well because there is a bar on top of it

Silver Groove v01 (Pre Release)

This theme is 99% vector graphics with only 1 .bmp background used in the Music Player application (thanks to Omizzay for the music wallpaper :idea:). I'll call it a pre release (majority is already customised from scratch/new graphics) only because I will further enhance a lot of minor things soon.

The package includes 2 .sis Themes with and without new icons:
NI = No Icons (Defaults)
I = Icons (Customised Digitile Icons)

Post any suggestions or bugs if you like.

p.s. Downloading new Theme Studio now and hoping it is a vast improvement on 3.0 which will bring more power and speed to the development cycle for all Theme Makers.


Awesome theme man! It's now my new theme =)

For the final release though, when in offline mode (as pointed out by someone else), the "x" doesn't appear correctly since the service bars are still there.

Also, this is just my personal preference, I was wondering if you could get rid of the little ball thing at the bottom that separates the two soft key options? (I think it'd give it a much cleaner look). No biggie if not though.

Thanks for feedback. Yes I see the lines on n73. I thought this might occur on different models. The dotted lines are on all standby themes by default but I have precisely covered them with the grooved lines for the n80. Please post a full size 24 bit bitmap and I can use that to precisely line the graphics for your model to cover the dotted default lines.

Alternatively I could remove the solid groove lines but I think I like them better than the dotted ones (gives the standby apps section some depth)?

I dont use the active thingy bob so i'm easy..........any of your themes are cool with me D.

Hi Mr G! Been a while since Ive had time to do some more themes. Thanks for you helpo in the past and obviously your continued support in the forums!

Thank also to all others for the feedback!!! Great help. I will look into the Offline problem X problem.

I found one other bug - the text highlight over the date entry on a calendar iterm is black which stops text being seen. Will fix that too.

Going to try new theme studio to see if I can swap over or not.

New Theme studio 3.1 on first glances seems great compared with 3.0

- Program runs a lot faster.
- UI is more robust with better previewing (take some getting used to from 3.0)
- 3.0 themes imported, compiled and tested on n80 without problem so far
- Ability to set screensaver as .sis, .swf or .svg (although this may only be support by v3 FP1 phones yet to be tested on v3/n80)

- *** For newbies now key and certificate generation is built in so expect those that couldn't get TS3 up and running before due to lack of using DOS commands or general pc knowledge to wisk past that hurdle.

Could also mean more themes being made by newbies along with more buggy themes too ;) hehehe I just love trying a new theme that has a wonderful picture on the front screen but everything else is crap or unreadable due to pictures used without proper thought on useability. Just kidding... go on... give it a go :)

Now to actually try modifying elements and using third party application editors to see if it only gets better from first glances.

Well TS3.1 is just awesome. Great upgrade.

As for the latest Theme I am progressing to polish it off and upload new version soon:

1. Well if anyone wants the lines and dashed lines to look perfect on 320x240 screens (n73 etc etc then please post a full size screen shot in 24 bit preferred so I can line up the graphic for your models... otherwise on N80 or 352x416 versions its perfect already).

2. The offline X is masked by the signal off placeholders. I can either remove the black placeholders or leave as is. I prefer to see the number of placeholders so its very clear how low or high signals are and in offline mode all are black (off) anyway. Each to their own?

3. Have lightned a few screen backgrounds further (typing a msg the cursor was not very visible on the edges.

4. Will now complete landscape mode graphics and all the other little bits and pirces to be refined for release version.

for the offline X... the bars doesn't look that good.. cuz it shows that there is somehting behind it and the lines comes up really missed up... if you can remove the X and leave the empty bars then it will look cool... or just the X by itself...

Yes this is fixed in release version.

Attached is the Illustrator Template I use for Theme Designs. I created this to streamline the theme making process and now share for other designers and anyone starting in vector graphics.

The main advantage is you can quickly design a new vector theme without using Nokia Theme Studio at first. Once happy with the design the template then helps to quickly replace all the theme components in the Studio program.

There are many other advantages doing it this way, such as easily going back and edit any elements and replace them again quickly, among others.

Some notes to anyone using this file:

- This template file includes almost all the main graphics from my latest Theme Silver Groove v1. (No Icons Included). This is to ohelp beginners understand vector graphics (No strokes/lines just fills for TS).

- Most elements are on individual layers and positioned perfectly (select all on any unlocked layer and copy) will copy the completed element parts ready for replacement into TS.

- Some layers also contain multiple elements on one layer and are not aligned to the grid. On these layers one should drag a boundign box around just the elements parts they want to replace (eg: 9 piece elements or volume controls).

- All element have a bounding box!!! The bounding box is normally transparent and is the exact size of the element you are replacing. Smaller parts of the visual graphic are set inside the bounding box. For elements such as backgrounds the bounding box is the outer part. For elements such as signals there are many smaller parts inside a bounding box that make up the whole element. Note in TS3.1 you can see the elements bounding box dimensions and grid position (pixels) in the values (0,0,88,88)
= Position 0,0 from top left corner
= Element Bounding Size 88,88

- Illustrator preferences/menus should be set to (Grid x1 pixel) and (Show Guides) and (Units/Measurments in pixels)

- If you plan to share your theme creations I suggest always designing for max phone dimensions (352x416). The phone itself will scale accordingly for smaller or odd sizes down. While vector graphics will scale up and down without distortion occasionaly bmp's will be used for backgrounds and these can only be scaled down to maintain quality.

- As mentioned above not every layer or element is positioned or scaled to the correct sizes. Some were done on the fly to my own preferences. I think there are a couple of layers that I did not use at all (blank) and others you may have to zoom out a fair bit to see the graphics (off centre grid).

- Theme elements are not all as you may expect. There are some tricks in getting the desired results for some elements. Some elements MUST be transparent in the center to work (eg: input highlight) and others must only have outer edges filled in and centre part null (eg: progress bar frames).

- Do not copy and paste directly from this template into TS as trasparency of bounding boxes will be lost. You must click to edit the TS element in vector program new window, remove all exisiting element parts (and release crop marks if using CS2) and then paste, close and save the opened Illustrator window.

Hmmm, I cant save a backward compat version from CS2. Odd though i though CS2 and CS1 files were compatible.

Worth the upgrade to CS2... with live trace feature which can trace bitmaps into vectors along with some other nice add ons.

I hate to ask this but I have a huge favor to ask you. The latest version of your Silver Groove theme is my favorite theme but I accidentally deleted it when clearing some unused themes off of my memory card. Now I can't reinstall it. :(

Is there any way that you could repost a new build of it with a slightly different name? That's the only way I know of to enable a reinstall without formatting the phone...

Sorry for the wasted post but I was able to fix it on my own. FYI if this happens to others just use uNsIs to extract and WinSiS to repackage with a different UID (I created it with the .skn file from the original SIS package, a new version number, and a new name.
