Guardian is the new antitheft system for Symbian Series 60 devices.
Every time you switch on your mobile telephone, Guardian proceeds with authentication of the inserted sim card; if authentication fails, Guardian send a notification sms message to a previously set telephone number.
In addition, the system features remote control functions, i.e. deleting your photographs/phone book/text messages/video/audio data in case of loss or theft of your mobile phone.

Features
Here are the main features of Guardian, the only existing application of its kind today:

- Sms Notification -

Guardian automatically sends an sms notification about the change of the sim card containing additional information (new owner’s phone number, GSM cell ID of the terminal to which the telephone is connected, country ID and current network). Such sms messages are sent without notifying the new user.

- AutoStart -

Guardian autoruns every time you turn on your mobile phone; to be fully operative, users simply need to install it and set it up.

- AutoHiding -

When an unauthorized sim card is inserted (or in case the mobile phone is turned on without any sim card inserted), the program will switch to invisible mode (and therefore will not be accessible anymore). The new user will not be aware of the presence of an antitheft system. When an authorized sim card is inserted, Guardian will return to visible mode.

- Multilanguage -

Guardian includes multilanguage features; it is currently available in these languages: English, French, German, Spanish, Italian, Turkish, Dutch, Serbian, Russian, Hebrew, Greek, Portuguese, Khmer, Chinese, BrazilianPortuguese, Czech, Tagalog, Croatian, Farsi, Malay, Bulgarian.

- Uninstall Protection -

This feature protects the system from unauthorized uninstallation. The program is not visible among the installed programs; to be uninstalled, a specific procedure is required, which may be accessed from the program only.

- Hard Reset Protection -

Modern mobile devices are equipped with a procedure (hard-reset) which allows to restore default settings (removing every installed software). Similar antitheft software programs may be blocked by using this procedure. Guardian features an advanced shadow copy system; in 90% of cases the program is not deleted after a hard-reset.

- Low Overhead -

During the day-to-day usage of the phone with an authorized SIM, Guardian will not use any memory resource, and it will not even run in the backround. The program will start every time the phone is turned on and if the SIM is authorized it will simply turn off without wasting any resource.

(*) Remote Control Plugins

Once a sim card change has been notified, users may send sms commands to Guardian. For example, users may delete sensible data such as sms/photographs/phone book/video/audio data, simply by sending a single sms. See Plugins section for more information.

(*) Sim White List

A maximum of 10 authorized sim cards can be registered.

(*) The latter two features will be activated after a donation.

After updating, you'll have to insert again the "Donation Code" you already have.

Now I'm adding new features to Guardian and developing a new plugin: FORWARD. This plugin will allow to retrieve the last sent/received sms, last made/received phone numbers calls and retrieve numbers from the phonebook

If the .sis file starts with "Guardian" word, then it won't compare in the app.manager, just rename the .sis present in this .zip ;) before install, or download the .zip available from official website.

About CALL plugin, it will arrive after (or with) FORWARD.
And will be much more powerfull... You'll have to send an sms to the phone eg. //YOURPASSWORD//CALL//+39328123456 and Guardian, after receiving sms will INITIATE a new CALL (the hard part is avoid user notification) to the number +39328123456, so you'll be able to spy the phone and HE will pay the call costs ;-)

Programme puts very simple go round!!! !
Installation here of programme is guidee right on the disk C, but hardly anybody knowsthat that the installs also on memory card.
If carry out format memory cards and format phone (*#7370#), programme guardian won't exist A won't function!!!!

Can it survive after a firmware upgrade? Theft cannot be affected even a firmware upgrade. Tested on both N90 & N70.

don't worry mate, ur sim number is different from your mobile number. the number appearing on the sim is unique from all the sim cards. this is primarily for identification. meaning ur guardian once installed only identifies ur sim and nothing else. hope i was able to help?=>

what happens if the thief inserts a prepaid sim without any credits? Will guardian try and try to send the notification sms until it succeeds?

dnt think this app will be cracked, at least not by any of the traditional crackers including binpda, specially after all the fuss that happened after binpda cracked FlashSMS, and the many emails that binpda must have received after the author stopped development for FlashSMS which will also happen to Guardian if it gets cracked. So it would prob require a "wanabe" solo cracker to crack it. However, its just easier to register it, its only 3 euros (which is not even the cost of a bus fare here in London :P)

As far as I know, most people don't activate PIN request. At least, to me, I never activate it. I think it is more convenient but of course, convenience always come with risk.

This feature is useless to those who has set the PIN request on but it is definitely useful to me...

Hi illusion ;) It's exactly the same option, no difference, but if you haven't enabled that request before, you can enable it after you lost your phone to "force" the theft to replace your sim with his own.
For the forward, I still have to finish it, and probabily it won't be present on this upcoming release, but on next will be for sure :P

Guardian never does nothing by himself, except sending the "sms alert".
In the next upcoming version, you'll be able to lock the phone also if sim has not been changed.
So you'll be able to lock the phone, using the LockPhone plugin, to avoid password guessing, when an authorized sim is used.

P.S. don't use an easy to guess password :P

Reading thru the threads I hav the impression I'm passin aside somfin. Where are all the plugins, forward, call, lockSim n lockphone plugins. Where can I find for example the settings "run in background",etc.. I'm sorry guys but I'm a bit lost. hope my questions are clear enough. my n70 was stolen with Guardian 1.0 installed, i have since granted a donate code which i installed successfully with Guardian 2.1 [latest from m. bellini's website-no more donate option under Options]; i have already received sms from the stolen phone w/ the new sim-telling me about country code, imsi, imei and so forth.

ONLY one problem, after numerous attempts at sending the plugins, //lockphone; //forward, etc.. no replies from the stolen phone, nor Guardian. it was enabled and i know i'm using the correct pw, i know that there hasn't been any dscussions abt different versions, and i know that you could only use the plugins after donating 3euros, i have since contacted il.socio 'marco about this but he's on vacation, can anyone still point me in the right direction? the thief has since been used 2 different simcards. i also used the //LOSTPASS option just in case i am using the incorrect pw; the PLUGINS don't work for some reason. UNLESS the thhief's phone may have not enoughcredits [load]- i'm afraid that my sms w/ the password i've sent via sms would render my stolen phone's security features vulnerable.

am i paddling without an oar down shitcreek?

guys, just donate 3 euros. i also have the same problem in my area, cannot use paypal...dunno why? but my country's banned i guess. so i asked a relative to shell out the cash via paypal [which is available in his location, i had to reimburse him of course], here's the deal: i am willing to pay for a good product and i understand about giving something for reaping the benefits of other people's hard work and talent, but i guess i am getting duped, cause up to now, i haven't been able to use the plugins promised for the 'donation', haven't been able to receive anything from the stolen phone, even the //FAKESMS command didn't give me anything back, zilch. lesson learned?

@demonoid plugins are not network dependent, if you've inserted your "donation code" inside Guardian the plugins are all immediatly available.

A good "Guard" if you know what you are dealing with, otherwise it can be a handful.

i tired the other plugins, //YOURPASSWORD//DELETE//ALL, and the MISC, and FORWARD, but can't get anything from the thief [no SMS replies], if all i can get from the thief's new sms is the sms telling me abt his new number, maybe i'm just missing something so obvious, i cut and paste from your website all the commands that would at least get me a response [not just an SMS about the thief's newly inserted SIM...] can u help me out pls? i tired verifying my password and used both capitalized and lower case and it works [alarm] on my phone, so i don't know what the problem is..would 2 different versions, one on my phone and a different one on the thief's phone matter? i know the program works 'cause i still get an SMS whenever he uses a different SIM, i understand that he may not have enough credits on his SIM to send me a bunch of his NEW data, but i'm really hoping that you could point me to the right direction, @il.socio, thanks in advance.

In Guardian Version <= 2.1 all the sms commands must be written in uppercase, or will not work.

By default, plugins doens't send you back any sms (except Forward).
If you want to receive an sms to confirm the correct plugin execution, you have to add the REPLY keyword, see the following examples:

//YOURPASSWORD//DELETE//ALL REPLY
Guardian will delete all the contents from the phone (ALL), then will send you a confirmation sms (REPLY).

//YOURPASSWORD//MISC//SHUTDOWN=5 REPLY
Guardian will send you a cofirmation sms (REPLY) and the will shutdown the phone after 5 seconds (SHUTDOWN=5)

In Guardian Version <=2.1 there was a bug on Forward plugin (on some particular configurations) this plugin causes Guardian to crash, preventing any further sms command execution (any sms command sent after the Guardian's crash will be visibile in the stolen phone) to restore the correct behaviour a phone reboot will be needed.
I know, this is very frustating :( but it has been fixed in 2.2 Version! :)
