Is there any way to hide a running software
i mean to say that in nokia 6600 when we press the Menu button for more than a 3sec it shows all the running softwares .

So there must be some way so that when we press the Menu button it doesn't show in that.

plz reply i need this urgently

no thtere is not as the services have to be immbedded with number 32 as a hidden criteria

wat does that mean

means that the specified app u like to "hide" must be "imbedded" with the 32 "tag" that the sistem recognize as a app to hidden. Your program surely has been compiled with another number so the only way I think is to crack it and change. Of course it is very hard to do if u aren't an expert.

I think I've understand right, anyway it's better than someone else confirm it :)
cheers

no crypto wont work on applications.... try smart guard pro... it wont encrypt ur application but only hide the application... smart guard pro is posted on the forum... try it... might solve your problem

Very good exactlly right but even if someone hides the program through a simple repack it is bound to cause problems due to conflict with other integrated services ongoing in the system....

guyz u didn't got my point
see if we use a software like phonepilot it has a option to hide but when we press the Menu button of nokia 6600 all the running software are shown, even phonepilot is shown bcoz its running in background but

if u use a software like Call Register used for logs,if u rename the folder name of CallReg in Fexplorer the icon gets hide and if u wanna run and c the logs u can go to Fexplorer and run directly the CallReg.app file it shows the logs even though its not running in the background.

So i have Smartcrypto n Smart gaurd pro they just hide the icons but they dont hide the running softwares u can always run just press the Menu buttom for 5 sec.

I need some tricks so that the software runs but not shows when the menu button is pressed. like i use to run CallReg.

plz help me out

i see what you mean. but i still don´t see the point of it. editing the the laucher and cion file of the apps on fexplorer might work but it might also corrupt the app. why do you need this trick?

In n70 ,
if you press the disconnect button then the app closes automatically
so when you hold the menu botton ... it shows no apps running coz they are closed (except in the case of log and contacts ,which is not closed automatically)
Now whether this is a boon or a curse ,definately depends upon the user

And BTW i am with you @kun_r_d in regard to this issue

I would have given you some suggestions (though not sure it works on 6600) if you merely don't like to see the running application's icon but it is clearly not the case....

SmartCrypto Does Hide the Running Software
but in 6600
when u press Menu button for some 4-5sec it shows the list of applications running in background.

I need a software which doesn't shows these applications when we press Menu button for 4-5sec

Come on people is not hard to understand what he is asking for - how to remove an icon from the task list when you press the menu button for 3 seconds. Its a good idea if it could be possible. For example, at the moment, in my task list I have icons for Telephone, SmartAnswer and smsCount - it would be nice to hide SmartAnswer and smsCount as they just clutter that menu. SmartAnswer and smsCount should be background processes like MumSMS, TaskMan and SmartProfiles which are all running in my phone but as "true background" processes so dont show in the task list like SmartAnswer and smsCount do. Id you run Appman you will see that MumSMS, TaskMan and SmartProfiles are running in the background but not showing in the menu's task list.

Any program to hide programs from the task list (pressin menu button 3 sec) but still keep them running as a true background process? Would be nice :)

Mates, I know that on informatic everything is possible to do.. yes, with lot of work everything could be done, but be realistic.. if the people here say that it is NOT possible with standard tricks/procedures to hide a generic program it means there aren't easy WAYS.

If u ask me why your car won't run on 2 wheel like your moto, it is because your car is projected to run with 4 wheels! Of course if u work over it an year you could modify enought it it could be run always on 2 wheel (maybe??)
On symbian is the same, if u project an application to run as an application u can't pretend it works as a SERVICE application (which is generally hide), and there is no application that can convert your .app as a service!
Many "background programs" are written as services working always since u start up your phone, they are .exe or .dll files (not .app!) and they're stored on system\programs or other system's folders (not system\app!). So u can't ask a .app to be a service file migically by one touch. On other way there is a way to hide a .app but it must be compiled on .app itself, changing the file contens (where? in which way?)

Hope it helps to understand, may I could be wrong but I think it is the point.

if u require simple hiding ... go to fe explorer ... find the path where application is installed ... suppose you want to hide an apllication called "smartmovie" .. then go to the program path ... and locate the filename with extention .app e.g smatmovie.app .. just rename the file and remove one "p" from .app and LO ... the application won't be visible in menu..

dude i did that
but try this if any application is running in the background then u cant rename the file + if u rename before then u cant run that software..

Now take a example of CallReg.
This is an Application which gives us the log of all incoming+missedcall+outgoing
even if u delete some no. from the log of ur cell this software gives u the complete Call history and also u dont need to run this App. in the background.

It's because there is a SERVICE PROGRAM THAT RUNS EVER! , not the log application itself!, another service system hided program. Log.app is only to display logs!!
Could you understand the differences?????

and one more thing .. if u are trying your hands on callreg... let me tell you even if u kill the process .. the os is designed such THAT .... your phone will restart if anyone of the essential services are killed .... so dnt bother the callreg.. cheers...keep deleting the logs..what dod you say barbara

Hi!
You should use selecQ and go to system/apps/the app folder you want to hire then rename all stuffs inside the app. After that you go to option/properties and turn "hide" on. That's it and you can't see the app on the manu.

since where in the thread about "hiding", is there an application that can hide a folder?

Mark
