View Full Version : [NGAGE gamez on 6600] OUT OF MEMORY after format
barbara 19th March 2006, 22:34 hello people
please help me as soon as possible with this problem:
I have some NGAGE games installed on the MMC card of my nokia 6600
so as FIFA 2004, TONY HAWK, SONIC, etc.
these games were all working very well on my 6600... untill I had to format my 6600
since then some games don't work anymore, although they are installed on the MMC card, which was not formatted
so for instance TONY HAWK PRO SKATER is no more working: when I start the game, it gives me this remark: "Out of memory".
I repeat: before formatting (only) the phone, this game was working perfectly!
Wat is the problem? can someone help me please?
I already re-installed the game, but still the same problem
this is very strange!
I hope someone can help because I love this game!
thanks for the quick help!

enej 19th March 2006, 23:26 try with fexplorer to compress memory...
barbara 19th March 2006, 23:50 try with fexplorer to compress memory...which memory must be compressed? (which directories?)

keropi 20th March 2006, 00:54 after the format, are new apps running on the background? like an antivirus??? do not be mistaken, the error refers to the phone's RAM and not the c or e drives... I think you have new software installed that runs on the background...
eshlen 20th March 2006, 00:54 Restart your phone, start FExplorer, then go to Options > Tools > Compress memory. Good luck. ;)
enej 20th March 2006, 01:44 yeah... like eshlen said... P.S.: if you have installed norton antivirus 1mb of you RAM is gone by this antivirus...so uninstall it...
i dont have any anti-virus for my phone cuz i download only software wich is on this site so on this site there is NO viruses...

momo53 20th March 2006, 04:16 its nt the phone problem is wat u have running on ur phone... dun install too much ngage games too...
alienx2 20th March 2006, 11:02 Or use Appman.. its better useful.
barbara 20th March 2006, 12:14 hello everybody
thanks for the help!
but it is not working yet
FExplorer indicates that I have 1401 of 1403 KB ram (D drive) left over
so that can't be the problem, can it?
or is it the Z-drive? (that indicates 0/23552 KB left)
when I go to "tasks" within FExplorer, I get this:
SysAp 30,7 KB
ScreenSaver 21,3 KB
Phone 188,6 KB
Menu 13,9 KB
Autolock 12,1 KB
FExplorer 122,8 KB
Abouve it indicates: "FreeMem: 7544 kB"
are thes app's nokia applications (can I shut them?)
another thing: I have about 16 NGAGE games on my 1 Gb MMC card and I put them all together in a directory 'ngage"
thanks again for the help!!
keropi 20th March 2006, 12:57 get an app like DEVMAN (I recommend it) to see the free ram. the D drive is a ramdrive, although it is based on RAM, it does not affect it. With 6600 you should have 9MB free Ram... download devman and see what app consumes your Ram!
another thing: I have about 16 NGAGE games on my 1 Gb MMC card and I put them all together in a directory 'ngage"
Are you reffering to the shortcuts on the menu? if yes there is no prob at all, put them wherever you like, but if you mean that u have move all the game files to a folder named ngage, using a file explorer, they won't work...
barbara 20th March 2006, 14:58 yes, I refer to the shortcuts on the menu
the games themselves are installed in their own folders (they have worked before formatting the phone)
keropi 20th March 2006, 15:03 ok this does not affect anything... have u checked devman?
barbara 22nd March 2006, 13:28 ok this does not affect anything... have u checked devman?
yes I installed DEVMAN
it gives me free ram = 7331840
should that be enough to play TONYHAWK PRO SKATER ?
keropi 22nd March 2006, 14:10 don't know, you should have 9MB free on 6600... give a detailed list with the running apps!
barbara 22nd March 2006, 16:18 don't know, you should have 9MB free on 6600... give a detailed list with the running apps!
these are the running apps:
- Autolock
- DevMan
- Menu
- Phone
- Screensaver
- SysAp
Devman, Phone and Menu are clear to me
But Autolock, Screensaver and Sysap are not; what ares these apps?
I can't kill the task Autolock
are these apps phone applications?
is there a way to startup the phone (6600) with minimal apps running? (a trick with the pencil or so) ?
thanks
barbara
Rogacz 22nd March 2006, 17:08 What about processes? Give a list of them, they are very important too. When I want to clear some memory, i kill processes instead of tasks.
keropi 22nd March 2006, 17:16 the apps running are normal,
- Autolock - Menu - Phone - Screensaver - SysAp
belong to SymbianOS, do not kill them :)
perhaps the answer lies in the processes...
barbara 22nd March 2006, 18:13 how can I see the processes with DevMan?
When I click on "View threads", I get this (looooooooong) list:

barbara 23rd March 2006, 18:40 can someone help me please?
thanks

keropi 23rd March 2006, 21:44 I fail to see any malicious threads.... or at least this is where my knowledge goes :D my suggestion for 100% success, since even if you close the problematic thread(s) after a reboot u must do it again and again, is this: format BOTH the phone AND the MMC... and then take your time to store again the ngage games... perhaps u need to use DMOE's libs...
luigi545 23rd March 2006, 22:16 @barbara
what i suggested is use Appman to
see what processes running in the background
Open Appman / press right to Processes / press Options / Settings / choose Exclude ROM processes
and kill all processes except Appman, then go back to first page and compress memory
try start the game u wana play again.
For some of the installed apps they have autostart processes running when u on/off phone
they might be the culprits eating up alot of rams and thus preventing ngage games to startup.
Do post results, hope this helps :yawinkle:

Must install them again (allmost all).Doesn't matter they are in MMC.When You format phone You must install all aplications again (all stored on MMC and phone). When You run some appl/game instaled on MMC or for the first time You some files are automaticly stored on phone (on C:/).Like on PC when You format system particion (with Operating Sustem on it) You must install all applications again.Doesn't matter if they are not on system particion/s :).
adesurf 25th March 2006, 10:24 i have opinion that u must buy a new n-gage
simple things rights??
shamnemesis 25th March 2006, 16:52 please ensure you remove your mmc card before format ..then try format your phone memory in two step
1-) press *#7370* then enter lockcode
format again
2) press *#7370* then enter lockcode
after that try to insert your mmc again but take note when you installed old n-gage games like Tony hawk, it needs to re-install again
lixchad 31st March 2006, 15:37 y did u format your N6600?
ofcourse you cannot play those games when you format your phone. coz there are some registry in your phone memory to play it....
the best thing u do is... download it again.
pardalslb 14th March 2007, 05:04 Its this simple, and im really telling you the truth because same problem hapened with me, you must install all games again because some files go automatically to the phone memory.i know its really bad but there is no other solution.by the way, in fexplorer the messeage on top that says freemem is the one that is important and to play you must have at least 8000kb free.wen its not this value you either compress memory or restart your phone.
hope i was able to help
hasoon2000 1st April 2007, 20:30 format ur memory card and ur fone again. reinstall the games it should work. i used to do dat 4 my 6600 wen i used to have it

I also experienced this problem before on my Nokia 6600 when I formatted my phone for several issues I'd rather not divulge. Anyway, ngage games I installed on my MMC stopped working all of sudden. I found out that when you format the phone it interrupts the system flow of some applications and disrupts the function of the ngage lib files that is needed to run the games. It is also a factor that when you formatted the phone it lost some important lib files to run the games. What I did to fix the problem is that I just reinstalled the "All In One OS7-OS8 NGage Fix libs" found on this forum and just to be sure I also installed the ones provided by bayXSonic (for it contains some lib files not installed by the first fix). You can also try it and call me in the morning when it works. :weedman:
I hope the admins won't mind with me reposting it for the benefit of our friend here.
