Hi is there a way in which more RAM can be put into the qd coz i find that sometimes when i play some of the official ngage games, they tend to slow down?

try with FExplorer wich you will find on this site...

in FExplorer go to: Options--->Tools--->Compress Memory

U can try booting ur phone in safe mode, turn off ur phone, than back on while holding the pencil button until it ask for sim code (if u have) or until it get to phone background.

Well, lots of people using this method for non-ngage phone to get to safe mode, no automated startup application, good for freeing up ur ram. Give it a try, maybeit can solve ur problem.

there is no way to increase the ram. if you have many apps opened close them before opening the game. long press menu button to see open aplications on the background.

offline mode will give you back a bit of ram

the only way to get more Ram to run an n-gage games is to remove j2me games, avoid install too many applications , compress memory , and do run themes ..you will able to have 9000 k of free ram .. :)

Sorry, whats j2me games? I always find that the games are pretty slow, with a lag, and I can't seem to clear the memory, even though there is no other applications used.

1.) install the latest smartlauncher on n-gage.

2.) charge your phone.

3.) turn off you phone (don't remove your phone from charging)

4.) after the NOKIA screen, you should see a white screen. then you should see the charging bar at the top right corner.

5.)if you see the charging bar, press menu then you should see smart launcher. take note that sim activities are not active. and if you remove your pfone from charging, it will turn off.

6.) and now you have almost 12mb ram.

blive, J2ME stands for java 2 micro environment, its java games basically.

yep, actually it is good not to have many java games on the phone, their mere residence on the phone already slows the phone down, i cleared out all the java apps and now things are smooth

is it effective? after got 12mb ram, can i plug-off the charge?

nah.. ngage have its own offline mode... dont need to use other software...

this is what i do to get more memory on my n-gage

1. install nothing on phone memory...

2. move all message from the phone to memory card.

3. using contact from sim card... well not really confortable but i remember mostly all the phone no i got... :P

4. dont use those 3rd party software launcher on phone...

with this i still got all free ram on my phone..

No java games and "Offline mode" on n-gage does the trick, or if you have the n-gage silver ed dummy-sim, use it. Use offline mode, that's why n-gage have it by default.

yes do that.but i can give u one more tip mate.its good when u play n-gage games to listen the music with headphones.that gives u a kick .believe me i play the asphalt always with them,coz when i play without it sais always "close some application and try again"

But there are two main disadvantages of using this way:

1) You can do this, only when at home. Or any indoor only, where you have a charger with you and an electricity socket.

2) While you are playing your game, whenever someone tries to call you, your phone will be found as "Switched off". Nobody can call you during that time.

I have another way to overcome these problems too, and also no need of uninstalling your favourite Java programs.
I will put it in my next post.

I think the best way is to use the "System2 trick".
For that, you need to have FileMan, or FExplorer, or any other Explorer.

1) Make sure your Explorer is not currently installed in the memory card. If it is so, do this:
By using the explorer itself, COPY it to phone memory (for eg: from "E:\System\Apps\FileMan" to "C:\System\Apps\FileMan") - then exit your explorer and open it again. This time, your explorer will start from Phone Memory.

2) Goto "E:\" Create a new folder, named "System2"

3) Now, rename your "System" folder with "System1", or any other name you like, but you must remember both the names you kept: "System1" and "System2"

4) Now change the name of the folder "System2" to "System"

5) Then, by using your explorer or without it, remove, or transfer, or install your favourite N-gage games to this new "System" folder

6) Restart the phone, and you will have more space in the RAM

7) After finishing playing your games, Rename back your "System" folder to "System2", and then "System1" folder to "System" and Restart the phone

Note(1): During transfering your favourite games, remember to transfer the following apps too:
(will be helpful - not a must)
1) Any RAM memory-compressing app, (for eg: AppMan, or FExplorer, or MemTest, etc.) - no need if you have any one of them in the phone memory. You never know when you might you get need of it.
2) Restart - (a program to restart your phone quickly) Since the method requires to restart before and after playing the game, by this app, you can restart the phone much much faster, (will save time).

Note(2): If you are lacking of space in your memory card, while copying the games, then instead of copying, Cut and Move them, and before the Step.3, uninstall the games, you want to transfer. (but only if you have their SIS files or any other kind of Backup with you, so that you can install them to the new "System", later at Step.5)

By using this trick, you donot have to uninstall your Java programs. Let all of them be there, in the older System. ("System1")
