This app is just what I was looking for. Great find! I did find out that to properly convert PDF's I had to download the TCR converter, but now it's working perfectly. Who else has Hawking's "A Brief History of Time" on their cellphone? :)

simply convert ur ebook with the shell.exe (make sure u choose the right phone type before u click build button..)
after the shell converted ur ebook to .jar file, simply send this .jar file to ur phone via usb cable, bluetooth or infra red... and install it...
now u can read ur book in application menu...

it's happening in some case only... not all pdf files...
and in my case... it happens to a few of downloaded pdf ebooks only...
i think it's not the shell's fault...
it's encoded with different methods maybe, or it's encrypted...
that's all i can think of...

if u wanna proof it's not shell.exe fault, try to convert the same pdf to other format (with other app, eg. pdf2word)...
or copy some texts from the pdf, and paste it in notepad...
u'll get the same result...

i have no SE Z520, but i'm sure it'll work fine in ur phone, coz this app supports phones with midp 1.0 and/or midp 2.0 java...
give it a shot, and tell us the result here...

k750i support both midp 1.0 and midp 2.0...
should work with no problem at all...
coz i have k750i too... :supz:

run Shell.exe (download on page 1)
simply choose the SE k750 type from phone list (upper left)
add ur document/ebook(s)
press build...
send the converted book (.jar) file to ur k750 thru bluetooth or irda or usb cable...
and install it...
u can find ur book on application menu..

no matter how hard i try , its been a week nearly i still cant get the jar/jad file working i installed them into the phone's other folder like u had said it installed succesfully but when i open it the program flashes and it went back to the menu agen when i restart my phone the result is the same and T_T it dosent work for my k750i???

make sure u choose Sony Ericsson K750i as the phone model before u build any ebook...

hmm... AFAIK, there's no extra stuff to download...:???:
simply convert the txt to .jar format, and send it to ur phone...
install it... and it'll be ready to be enjoyed...

simply run tcbr (tequila cat book reader) , and drag and drop the .txt file to the tcbr converter window... and then choose the phone type at the top left of the window, then click build... just like that..

the file did converted.. just that the file is not properly converted .. have diffculty reading thanks.. anyway thanks for yr help. cheers

try to play around with the layout settings on the bottom left of the window...
eg. change the font, font size, screen orientation, etc...

My first post here and already at this app. I tried it with much poorer instructions over at esato and never got it working with my old K750i.

Man I'm in HEAVEN with my new W810. Sure its old news to most of you but I think it'll last me quite some time.

1. download & extract tcbr-2.2.8.rar file attached by LiveDevil
2. download gettext.zip and extract to PLUGINS folder, replacing all files.
3. Now you can freely convert your ebooks with shell.exe

LOL I solved with is Acrobat Reader v7.

Any Ebook that contains watermarks or Photos will result in that gibberish issue.
I just select File Convert to text ... it asks where to save it and BAM its a .txt file. Now use shell.exe and ADD the newly 'txt'd' ebook and create the resulting java file and send to you're phone.

Man I love SE phones with this kind of ecosystem. Me and my w810 will go through some fun adventures.

yeah, that is a powerful ebook maker. But does anyone have the certificate to signed the ".jar" ? I think it would be better, we have got the signed ".jad" to get rid of the security authorization quetions. Cause I am using w810, and I would like to make a pure TXT-READER or TXT-Explorer, but NOT an Ebook.

try this...
convert one of ur chosen book to jar with this app...
send it to ur phone, and install...
run it... and instead of selecting ur converted book in Jar Book folder, try to browse and open ur .txt file...
guess what?
it can directly open .txt files with no problem at all...
about the certificate... i'm sorry... i tried to install with the generated .jad file... but it's still asking for permissions when trying to browse the file system...

However, can we only read txt files on it ?
I mean yea, we can convert all those formats like pdf into txt using the converter, but what im asking is that when put on the phone, it recognises only txt files ?

If so, then whoever made this application could look into the possiblity of creating a new ebook format that would also support images along with the txt, and then maybe create a converted to convert the other book formats to the new format for TCBR.

Just a suggestion for future improvement maybe...

coz bookmark works just fine in my k750...
to add bookmark: press 0 (menu), then 3 (bookmarks), then 1 (add bookmark)
to jump to bookmarked position: press 0 (menu), then 3 (bookmarks), then 3 (Go to...), then select the bookmark position u wanna go to...

when i add a bookmark, it does get added and i can see the bookmarks that i saved in the list of bookmarks... however when i click a bookmark, it gives me the usual "FileReadAccess" security prompts... when i click yes, nothing happens...

when i return to the text, im still where i was...

Beacause you clicked the wrong icon. Just select you're file and click the first icon in the top.

and currently i don't have any .prc file, so i can't test it myself..
if it doesn't work, then find a .prc to .txt converter with google..
convert ur .prc files to .txt first, then convert it to .jar with tcbr..
it should works fine...

btw, i use s700i settings simply bcoz my phone res is the same as that. Even using all other SE settings gives me gibberish.

open ur PDF in acrobat reader or other pdf reader app...
then save as text... so u'll get a .txt file from ur PDF.
after that, u can use that .txt file to be converted by TCBR's shell...
this issue has been asked a few pages back if i'm not mistaken... perhaps u wanna check it out...
